Sermon Outline

Ralph Waldo Emerson said, “Nature is too thin a screen, the glory of the omnipresent God bursts through it everywhere!” Paul Little writes, “God is not a substance spread out in a thin layer all over the earth - all of Him is in Chicago, in Calcutta, in Cairo, and in Caracas, at once and at the same time.” Psalm 139:7-12 (CEV), “Where could I go to escape from your Spirit or from your sight? If I were to climb up to the highest heavens, you would be there. If I were to dig down to the world of the dead you would also be there. Suppose I had wings like the dawning day and flew across the ocean. Even then your powerful arm would guide and protect me. Or suppose I said, ‘I’ll hide in the dark until night comes to cover me over.’ But you see in the dark because daylight and dark are all the same to you.” Isaiah 7:14, "Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, a virgin will be with child and bear a son, and she will call His name Immanuel.” Matthew 1:22-23 (NCV), “All this happened to bring about what the Lord had said through the prophet: ‘The virgin will be pregnant. She will have a son, and they will name him Immanuel,’ which means ‘God is with us.’” John 14:16-17 (Mess), “I will talk to the Father, and he’ll provide you another Friend so that you will always have someone with you. This Friend is the Spirit of Truth. The godless world can’t take him in because it doesn’t have eyes to see him, doesn’t know what to look for. But you know him already because he has been staying with you, and will even be in you!” Acts 1:8, "But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth." His presence makes me somebody

His presence allows us to exchange our worries for His peace

Sermon Notes

Psalm 29:11, “The LORD gives strength to his people; the LORD blesses his people with peace.” Matthew 6:31-33 (NCV), “Don't worry and say, 'What will we eat?' or 'What will we drink?' or 'What will we wear?' The people who don't know God keep trying to get these things, and your Father in heaven knows you need them. Seek first God's kingdom and what God wants. Then all your other needs will be met as well.” Philippians 4:7, “And the peace of God which transcends all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.” His presence gives us the direction we need Psalm 32:8, “I will guide you along the best pathway for your life. I will advise you and will watch over you.” Proverbs 3:5-7 (MSG), “Trust God from the bottom of your heart; don't try to figure out every-thing on your own. Listen for God's voice in everything you do, everywhere you go; he's the

one who will keep you on track.Don't assume that you know it all.”

Hebrews 13:5-6 (MSG), “Don't be obsessed with getting more material things. Be relaxed with what you have. Since God assured us, ‘I'll never let you down, never walk off and leave you,’ we can boldly quote, God is there, ready to help; I'm fearless no matter what. Who or what can get to me?” John Wesley wrote, “Cheerfully expect that He, before whom you stand, will ever guide you with his eye, will support you by his guardian hand and will keep you from all evil." His presence gives us the power to overcome Reflection…

Doug Sleight, after spending over 3 years in Eastern Asia teaching in universities and advising students is in the process of transitioning to serve the Lord in a different country.

In the beginning of 2015, Doug will be entering a new field as he travels to Uruguay. He will be working as an English teacher as well as getting involved in local ministries and active church plants. Doug plans to spend some time improving his Spanish in a language school, and he is looking into teaching opportunities and hopes to begin teaching in March. Mis-sionaries on the ground in Montevideo have found that emotional health is a strongly felt need for many Uruguayans and are using teaching as a means to get involved in people’s lives and share God’s truth, love, and power with them.

PRAYER MINISTRY TEAM MEETING OVER AT THE JOURNEY OFFICE SUNDAYS AT 6:30 PM

Come join us as we enjoy our God through prayer, Sunday evenings at 6:30pm over at the Journey office (the white house). We will have a time to praise our Lord through prayer, as well as pray for each other’s needs and those of our church body.

Also keep in mind, even the disciples had to ask how to pray. So if this is an area of your life you want to grow in, come join us as we disciple each other in prayer. Let’s seek to live out Hebrews 10:19-23 together. If you have any questions, email Mike Ambroso at [email protected].

SPECIAL OFFERING FOR LIVING WATER TODAY We will be taking a special offering today to help build a well. Just make your checks out to the Journey and mark “Living Water” on the memo line. We have set up a table in the lobby with more information on the Advent Conspiracy and Living Water International, and there are special cards out on that table that you can use to let someone know that, instead of giving them a gift they don’t want, can’t use or don’t need, you have given the gift of clean water to someone in their name!

MISSIONS TEAM END OF THE YEAR MEETING TODAY!

Join us in the back of the sanctuary right after the second ser-vice. Snacks will be provided. For more information contact: Gary Ulrich - [email protected]

JOURNEY MEALS TO GO Journey Meals To Go is an area of our church ministry that directly touches those in need. Currently, we provide meals to those that have had a new baby, had surgery or

had any other circumstance arise that put them in need of meal support. The meals are coor-dinated through the Meal Train website, making it simple for the Journey Meals supporters and recipients to get all the important details. If you or someone you know within the church is in need of support, or if you would like to help provide meals, please contact Ramy Ruiz at [email protected] or Lisa Steedsman - [email protected] via email.

LABELS FOR EDUCATION - MOUNTAIN MISSION SCHOOL Please save the UPC code/lids from the products listed in the flyer which, due to construction, is now located on the cart in the lob-by. Also save the “Box Tops for Education” coupons on various products, including Kleenex tissues, cake mixes, and frozen prod-ucts. Place them in the box also provided on the cart in the lob-by. They will be sent to the Mountain Mission School in Grundy, Virginia. These labels are great-ly appreciated by them as they can use them to get a variety of different supplies & equipment that the school couldn’t get otherwise! One thing to keep in mind - don’t hold onto your “Box Tops” too long - they do expire and they can’t use them if the date on them is past!

COMMUNION PREPARATION FOR 2015 Have you been looking for a place to serve at the Journey? We need people to prepare communion. We need people to prep & set up before 1st service and between services, someone to clean up after 2nd service. You’ll see a sign up sheet in the lobby reflecting these two areas. Normally sign up is on a monthly basis, but if you can only serve one or two weeks in a month, that’s OK, too! Easy to follow instructions and all supplies are provided. If you can help, sign up on the sheet in the lobby, or just talk to Judy Davis. For more information,

contact [email protected].
