Sermon Outline

Ephesians 4:3 (NIV), "Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace." 1. Learn the art of good communication

• Listen to what’s being said Proverbs 18:13 (NIV), “He who answers before listening—that is his folly and his shame.”

• Be honest in all you say Proverbs 12:22 (NIV), “The LORD detests lying lips, but he delights in men who are truthful.”

• Think before you speak Proverbs 15:28 (ESV), “The heart of the righteous ponders how to answer, but the mouth of the wicked pours out evil things.” > Proverbs 15:18 (NIV), “A hot-tempered man stirs up dissension, but a patient man calms a

quarrel.”

> Proverbs 12:18 (NIV), “Reckless words pierce like a sword, but the tongue of the wise brings healing.”

• Be kind in what you say Someone once said, “I’m careful of the words I say so I keep them kind & sweet. BecauseI nev-er know from day to day, which ones I’ll have to eat…” Proverbs 12:25 (NIV), “An anxious heart weighs a man down, but a kind word cheers him up.” 2. Be considerate of each other

Sermon Notes

James 3:17 (NIV), "But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere." 3. Learn the art of compromise Someone once said, “When two people agree on everything…one of them is not needed.”

The kind of vacations you take The way your kids are raised The way you spend your money Or in the more intimate areas of your life

4. Continue to date your mate Proverbs 5:19 (NCV), "She is as lovely and graceful as a deer. Let her love always make you happy; let her love always hold you captive." Someone once said, “If there was more courting in marriages, they'd be fewer marriages in court.” 5. Do all you can to stay true to the commitment you’ve made “Commitment means I'm going to stay with you as long as it takes because I made a com-mitment to God and regardless of what you choose to do, I'm going to do my best to be com-mitted to you.” 6. Christ has to be the foundation you build on Reflection…

All Nations

Brandon & Julianna Jones (and Mikayla!) have been living in Cape Town, South Africa since 2010. Recently, they were sent out from Cape Town to establish a new work of their organization, All Nations, in eastern Africa. They are acting as strategic coordinators for this area (including East Afri-ca, Ethiopia & the Horn). Practically, this means that they are predominantly focused on (a) coach-ing and mentoring local leadership throughout the region, (b) inspiring, encouraging and walking with partner ministries in rethinking how cross cultural mission is done and (c) being a source of ongoing care and support to All Nations missionaries in the region. And all of this in line with their mission: to make disciples & train leaders to ignite church planting move-ments amongst the neglected peoples of the earth. ARE YOU MISSING SOMETHING? We have a small "lost and found" location behind the guest welcome booth in the front foyer. We'll keep stuff for 30 days and then send it along to our local charity clothing bank or the Salvation Army. Not finding it here? Check down at the infor-mation booth for Journey Kidz - they have a box, too! Check with Jim Pruitt at [email protected] .

Good Stuff to Know

THE BULLETIN IS NOW ONLINE! … well, it’s actually been on there for awhile, we just wanted to make sure you know! If you would like to save some paper, you can down-load the bulletin from our website. Just go to thejourneysite.org, click on the “Media & Resources” page, then on “This Week at the Journey” - and click on the date of the bulletin that you need. The bulletin for the current Sunday is normally available by 5pm the Saturday before if you

need to download it before you come to church.

NEED PRAYER? If you have an urgent prayer need, one that needs prayer before Sunday, there are several ways to get the word out to our prayer warriors:

• Go to our website, thejourneysite.org, and click on "Prayer Re-quest" on the Welcome (front) page. From there you can fill out a form that will be sent to the Journey office.

• Email your request directly to Vicki Becker at [email protected] - she will send your request out to our email prayer team.

• Call the office! We can forward your request on to Vicki if you are not able to.

If you would like to have your name added to the Email prayer team, please contact Vicki Becker at [email protected]. Vicki will email you when she is contacted with urgent prayer needs. Your prayers are appreciated!

BLESSING BAGS FOR THE HOMELESS Our Tuesday Night Young Adult Life Group is sponsoring an outreach called “Blessing Bags for the Homeless.” The life group will stock back packs with non-perishable food, a blanket, toiletries and other small items that would be a blessing to the homeless near your home or work. All you need to do is buy the bag from church (Cost $20), and keep it in your car. When you come across someone who could be blessed by it, you give it to them. Pick one up in the

lobby TODAY.

If you have any questions about this outreach, please contact Andy Butler - [email protected]

JULY IS MOVIN’ ON UP MONTH IN JOURNEY KIDZ LIVE! ZONE School is out and it's time to move on up! Our kids are so excited to be one grade older, and we are ready to match their excitement! Our LIVE! Zone grades may begin moving up starting TODAY, July 6th. (Reminder: Tot Zone children move up based on age.) We know that change is fun, but it can also feel a little scary for some of our younger students, specifically our Kindergarteners. So, as parents, we invite you to help them transition by joining their class any Sunday of your choosing during the month of July. We really encourage you to take a Sunday in July to join with us, get to know their teachers, help them get settled in, and be a part of the fun that goes on downstairs! Looking forward to continuing to partner with your families!

NEED MORE POWER? WE NEED MOWERS! We have slots open for people to mow the grounds. So if you en-joy being outdoors and having the feel of power beneath you, you’ve come to the right place. If you are interested in helping us mow the grass, sign up on the schedule in the lobby.

If you have not mowed before, you will need to see Don Davis for a quick session on the equipment before you start. Contact Don at [email protected].
