We have had a very busy month at Your Child in Whittlesea, with not just one, but two competitions running concurrently. We had some adorable entries to our Kids Corner Dress-Up Competition. The photos of our winning entry and the runners-up can be seen on page 25. Congratulations to the winners, twins Jack & Amelia!

We also had the readers’ book giveaway, which invited our readers to interact with us via our Facebook page. The winners will be announced this month on our Facebook page . Our page has regular www.facebook.com/yourchildinwhittleseaupdates of What’s On in Whittlesea, as well as special offers from our advertisers. So be sure to “like” us so that you can stay informed and be plugged in.

In this issue, we have our final competitions for this year. We have our Kids Corner Christmas Colouring Competition on page 24, and we have our Christmas Present Competition in which we are giving away six shopping & dining vouchers valued at $50 each! Hidden on the pages of this months’ magazine are some Christmas presents. All you have to do to enter our competition is to find the presents and send us a SMS to 0458 814 617 with your name and how many presents you found. You can also send us an email or message us on Facebook if you don’t have a mobile phone. See page 16 for all the details of the competition and the prizes on offer. Now get the kids involved and go hunting!

Nestoras College, a Greek Language & Cultural School, was founded in 1975 by two experienced teachers from Greece and has since grown to over 500 students across three campuses in Doncaster, Thornbury and Thomastown. Nestoras College embraces centuries of Greek culture to provide, not only language studies, but also education in Greek traditions and values. It provides classes for all ages including Kinder and VCE, and is accredited by the Board of Studies for the assessment of Year 11 and Year 12 VCE Greek. Over the past 39 years Nestoras’ students have achieved outstanding results. The qualified and dedicated staff recognise that each person is an individual and deliver a curriculum that meets the specific needs of our students.

Greek traditional dancing is an integral part of the program and all students learn to dance, at no additional expense to parents. Special emphasis is placed on organising school festivals and performances where all students participate in order to develop cultural awareness and sense of national pride. In addition to the performing arts, student writings are also celebrated through compilations appearing in a number of publications, including the Nestoras College newspaper. Nestoras College is a non-profit educational organisation funded in part by the Australian Government to serve the Greek community. Course fees are very reasonable and affordable and special rates are offered to Year 12 students.
