Tenerife B reach semisCongratulations to the B team (pictured above),who have now reached the semi final of theCopa Federación. They drew 3-3 onWednesday against a Cartagena side who arecurrently topping Group 4 of Segunda B. Theaway goals being enough to take themthrough.They also dispatched Fuenlabrada in theprevious round, who are currently fifth behindus in Group 1, and one of the only two teams tohave beaten us this season.Regardless of their further progress in thiscompetition, they deserve a great deal of creditand support for their efforts this season. El GeneralIncredible! It looks as if CD Tenerife will keep the same manager for a wholeseason. Cervera should be tied down as soon as possible by the club (notliterally). Even if we do not gain promotion he should stay here in myopinion. He is bringing in the youth slowly but surely and creating a goodbase for the future. Quick money fixes can work in football of course, but Iwould rather wait a bit longer and watch a team progress together with asmany local players as possible.A few weeks ago, three out of the back four were former youth players,Cristo Martin was running the midfield and Suso was terrorising defenders.Aridane is from Fuerteventura, it´s a bit like the Andy Murray syndrome,when he is doing well we are proud that he is a fellow Canarian, and whenhe has a bad patch he is from Fuerteventura, province of Las Palmas).Last season even though we finished second and reached the play-off finalwe rather stumbled there it has to be admitted. Ponferradina our rivals thatday were too good for us and have enjoyed a great season in the 2nddivision, proof that they were a good solid side. Something I believe we arethis time. Today will be a tough one, against a talented young Madrid sidewith nothing to lose. Question is; can we score in the first half?Last time was 16th December!!

Even a win would have ended ourspell in La Primera, but there we werescrubbed and coloured up for an earlycharter flight of hope. Passing swiftlythrough Valencia airport, our coachesarrived to pick us up for tickets at theMestalla stadium, they weren’t readyso we did a bunk and overcame busycycle lanes, the big marathon, andKirsty’s bad tempered iPhone mapand found our way to the Plaza delReina for a few beers watching thepolice chase the local Lookies.Some of the previous days advanceguard found us and led us throughthe tight winding streets to Plaza delVirgin which boasted many café bars,a stage show, and a large ornatefountain with statues - just cryingout for a makeover. The Generalscavenged bubble bath and washingUp liquid from bars and pretended it

was bath time. The crowds grew as thefoam lapped over and across thesquare, the police looked on bemused.Armada Sur had never been cleaneras we joined hundreds more fans ingreeting the team’s arrival at thestadium, before taking our placeshigh in the stand on the old side ofthe ground.The first half was quiet, and aMalaga goal at home to Real Madridtipped us further towards the drop.Alfaro went close for us in the 2nd

half and Sergio kept us in the gamebut they scored a late winner. We weredown but gave the players a rousingsend off. Miserable stadium policeheld us in for 40 minutes and thenthe lights were turned off as weheaded down the tricky stairs –thanks a bunch.
