Birchwood DREAM Monthly Snapshot September 2012 Program Happenings and Highlights

• The Birchwood DREAM program kicked off another great semester of mentoring and welcomed Ryan Mclachlan and Kate Hennes as this semester’s co-chairs

• The program is currently working on recruiting new mentors and kids. • Seven Birchwood mentors joined mentors from around the state for DREAMstock, the

DREAM office’s annual mentor training event. • Birchwood DREAM welcomed back Laura Kingston, a former co-chair, as the Birchwood

program partner. Laura is also serving as a Champlain College Campus Compact VISTA.

Weekly Programming with Children

• Mentors celebrated their first Friday of the semester by taking the kids to play in Bombadier Park near the Birchwood Community

• Mentors and kids competed in a rousing game of kickball at Champlain College • The Birchwood DREAM Program took advantage of a beautiful fall day by going to

Oakledge Park for a barbeque and water bottle decorating. • The program went to Shelburne Orchards for an afternoon of apple picking.
