Why are people always tired in April? They just fi nished a March! What a March it has been, too! Hail and wind, lightning and thunder, rising gas prices and food priced like
plunder. What we could all use is a nice rest from March madness. How about a nice day at the park with friends and family? On Saturday, April 7, starting
Superior to celebrate 26th Annual Easter in the Park
at noon, there’s going to be a whole world of fun sponsored by the Town of Superior Parks and Recreation. So, hop on down to Besich Park on Main Street, boys and girls of all ages, for lots of fun and games. There will be an Easter Egg Hunt, Easter Hat contest, Piñata Break, and other games and prizes throughout the day. If you are feeling as peckish as a newly hatched
Easter chick, there will be hot dogs, soda and water for sale to assuage your needs on the cheep. Let us not forget, as well, the beauty of the park itself. What a lovely place to come and relax, have a picnic, play as children or watch the children play, and revel in the joy of being on a day, in a month, burgeoning with new growth and brighter skies. Come on down and enjoy!

The students of Superior Head Start have been delving into any exciting experiences throughout the year such as class jobs, physical activities, singing, reading, listening, writing and a visit from Dad with family puppy. Through these activities, the children have been introduced to many valuable lessons and social skills. Now, it is time for Spring Break, when the children will be able to practice what they have learned, in the settings of classroom and field trips, at home with their family. For after Spring Break has sprung, students and staff are looking forward to a celebration of the National Association of the Education of Young Children’s (NAEYC) Week of the Young Child, beginning on April 22. NAEYC’s Week of the Young Child is an annual celebration which emphasizes the importance of positive early environments and resources to build strong foundations for learning by focusing public attention on the needs of young children. The theme “playing is learning” is key for developmental outcomes for children. To learn more about NAEYC history and goals, please visit http://www.naeyc.org/woyc/faq

experience of Dr. Richard Saran’s life. “Learning how preschool aged developmental and health issues affect an individual is enlightening. Meeting people and organization that will help is gratifying. Developing relationships with people with a similar goal that is helping preschool aged children is humbling,” Saran, a dentist with Sun Life Family Health Center said. “Few opportunities will provide a more satisfying experience.” See Applicants, Page 9
