An abandoned husband’s storyDEAR Joe,I just want to share myexperience to inspire oth-er young people who arefollowing Lovenotes.
I’m 63 years old, retired andmanaging a successful business.I remain in good shape and amstill attractive. But it’s sad tosay that I am alone.
It was 20 years old in 1956when I fell in love with Annawho was my schoolmate and twoyears my junior. We eventuallygot married and had a son anddaughter. After our youngestchild turned three, Anna wentabroad for greener pasture. I al-ready held a good position in thecompany that I worked for so Iagreed to what Anna wanted. Itdidn’t take her long to establishherself in Canada. She successful-ly became the herald of the stateto embassies in Canada and after2 years, petitioned me and ourkids. I resigned from my job be-cause I really missed my wife somuch. After 6 months in Canada,the doctor confirmed that my re-curring skin problems were dueto my inability to adapt to theclimate. Against my will, I re-turned to the Philippines withoutany member of my family. It wasthe only way I could stay alive.
Anna is a very attractive andintelligent woman. It was notsurprising that she could becourted by other men. I knewthat she needed my support andI was not there to give it to her.I kept on writing to my familybut after a year, my worst fearcame true. She admitted thatshe was seeing another man. Icried and wasn’t able to sleep oreat for weeks. My job was great-ly affected until I was forced toresign. Ana later returned withher boyfriend William and ourkids. She told me that she want-ed to part ways with me and getmarried to William.
Joe, it felt like the wholeworld collapsed in front of me. Iwas not able to hold back thetears. I wanted to hurt all ofthem but because of so muchlove, I couldn’t. I just found my-self hugging my kids whoseemed not to remember meanymore. The situation painedme so much. I approachedWilliam and with tears in myeyes told him to take care of mykids like they were his own.
Since then, all communica-tion had stopped. My wholeworld changed and I never re-
married. Through all this pain,God kept me whole. He gave mestrength and a new lease on life.Until now I still think of my wifeand my kids. I still love themvery much. I will be turning 64this September and am devotingmy life to God and charity. Ihope that people will under-stand that God gives us prob-lems to strengthen us, to directus to the right path, to teach usand to perfect us as human be-ings. Joe, I hope I have made animpression on other people whomight be in the same situation.God bless and more power.

I know that there areno words to describe how bitter itwas to see them go. But, you haveallowed love to rule over hatredand humility over pride. You wereable to say goodbye in a mannerthat was truly that of a real gen-tleman. You have lost a fight butnot the battle. You have lost yourfamily but you haven’t lost yourfaith. And that was the faith thatyou have built your life upon.
Francisco, it is true that Godallows us to be tested at timeswhen we are most weak and inplaces where it hurts the most.Job, in the bible lost his family,his wealth, his health and almostlost his own life. But he never losthope and God saw how he stoodfirm in his faith. He was reward-
ed a hundred fold after survivingthe most difficult trials in his life.
I know it has been years nowand your children may alreadyhave families of their own. Youhaven’t stopped loving them andI know you never will. You willalways be Anna’s husband and afather to your son and daughter.That’s the way it will always bein the eyes of God.
I hope that your family will re-member your 64th birthday. I al-so hope that they can spend timewith you just like the way it wasyears ago. I will pray for yourhappiness… because people likeyou deserve to be happy. Thankyou for showing us that there islife even after we lose those welove, that there is forgiveness evenafter we have been hurt. ThatGod will keep us intact when wefeel like breaking apart and thatHE will take our hands when weare just about to give up.

Ayon kay Arnell, nagsimulaang kanyang “bignelli cars”isang taon na ang nakakaraanmatapos niyang makapanayamsa kanyang programa sa radyosi Sharon Fabian, ang organizerng Wedding Expo na ginanap saSMX Convention Center mulaMarso 12 at 13.
“Nainterview ko siya andmahilig ako sa kotse, tinanongniya ano naman ang gagawinko sa mga sasakyan ko, ang da-mi na nila. Sabi niya ba’t hindimo subukan ang bridal car ser-vice,” sabi ni Arnell.
Nakumbinsi siya ni Fabian nasumali sa expo.
“Pinadisplay niya, binigyanniya kami ng libreng pwesto.Nagulat ako sa response ng tao.Meron pala talagang bridal in-dustry and then we participatedagain, more prepared, meronna kaming flyers, meron nakaming contract, magandangexperience din, nakakatuwa,”paliwanag ni Arnell.
Simula noon, regular nasiyang sumasali sa bridal expo.
Pero bago pa niya pinasukanang bridal car rental business,matagal na siyang may maga-garang kotse.
“Kasi mahilig akong magre-store ng kotse. Tulad ng 1965Lincoln Continental.Nakakatuwa pag sinasakyan ng
mga kinakasal, tapos kapagtinitignan nila napapa-wowsila,” aniya.
Ikinuwento din ni Arnellkung paano niya isa-isangnakuha ang kanyang mgaprized cars.
“Yung 1965 Lincoln Conti-nental pinost yan sa Buy andSell, yung kantong-kanto, tini-tignan ko yung picture narere-cognize ko siya na Lincoln. Kasiano yan very recognizable, yungshape nun. E di pinuntahan kotapos nakita ko nga na talagangnakatambak lang,” sabi pa niArnell.
Ayon pa kay Arnell,nadiskubre niya na ang orihinalna may-ari ng 1965 LincolnContinental ay ang namayapangaktor na si Fernando Poe, Jr.
“Kasi nga bihirang-bihiralang yan, 89 units all over theworld, itong 1965 model.Meron siyang yahoo group, 109lang kaming members all overthe world. Nakakatuwa kasi itsnot about money, it’s about hav-ing a car that nobody has. Kahitnapakarami mong pera kungwala ka namang mabibili, walarin,” sabi pa Arnell.
Bukod sa 1965 Lincoln Con-tinental, sinabi ni Arnell nameron din siyang 1993 LincolnContinental na pinaganda rinniya.
“Nakita ko naman yun sa tin-dahan ng kotse ng kaibigan ko
kakarating pa lang galing
Dubai. Pangit, naisip ko anitogagawin ko diyan. Naisip komaganda siyang bridal car sonirestore ko. Hinanap ko sa in-ternet, ebay, lahat ng kulangniya. Yung mga pangit na piye-sa pinalitan ko isa-isa. Sinishipdito pa isa-isa. Pahirapan nga,tiyagaan, like yung ilaw kinuha
nanonood ka lang sa likodkaysa naman ikaw na namangang maghohost,” ayon pa sakanya.
May mga pagkakataon, ayonkay Arnell na inaalok siyangmaging host ng kasal.
“Minamahalan ko talagapara wag na para andun kalang sa likod,” saib pa niya.
Idinagdag ni Arnell na handasiyang i-offer ang kanyang ser-bisyo bilang drayber sa mgaikakasal kapag natipuhan niya.
“Like may ikakasal daw fortheir 50 years anniversary sabiko kay nanay ako na ang mag-dadrive,” dagdag pa ni Arnell.

Kuwento ni Arnell na min-san, pinagamit niya angkanyang Lincoln Continentalnang libre sa isang couple athiningan lamang niya angmga ito ng panggasolina.
“Yung walang pera pinaga-solinahan na lang. Ako pa nag-drive sa UP Church. Pabalik-ba-lik yung guy, upo nang upo sakotse wala naman palang pera.Siyempre nagpicture-picturansila don at makikita mo wala ta-lagang datung. Hindi namannakiusap, paulit-ulit niya langpinuntahan tapos tumawag siyasabi niya yung Mercedez Benzna lang kasi P3,500 lang,” idi-nagdag ni Arnell.
Aniya, siya pa angnagkumbinsi sa lalaki nagamitin na niya ang kanyangLincoln Continental.
May nakakatuwang kwentodin ang negosyo ni Arnell.
“Sa Ayala-Alabang, maynagkamaling sumakay na bridesa Lincoln. Siyempre hindi na-man kilala ng driver yung bride,so lumarga na. Mali naisakay.Minsan kasi sa hotel dala-dalawa yung ikakasal. Pagda-ting sa simbahan nakita ibayung mister, binalik ulit yungbride sa hotel e di na-late. Sabipa nga ganda na sana nung ser-vice niya.”
Ayon kay Arnell, nag-eenjoysiyang manood sa likuran ha-bang ginaganap ang kasalan.
