STEWARDSHIP REFLECTION Today we celebrate the Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity. That means we are celebrating God on this holy day. In the Catholic Church a solemnity is the highest ranking holy day possible (followed by a feast and a memorial). The Most Holy Trinity is the central mystery of our Catholic faith.
As Catholics we acknowledge the Holy Trinity when we arrive in a church, and several times during our liturgies as well as other times. Every time we make the sign of the cross, every time we pray most likely, we are expressing our faith in the Trinity and our faith that the Trinity was revealed by Jesus on the Cross. One part of stewardship is knowing our traditions and the meanings behind them.
Making the sign of the Cross should never be an empty gesture on our parts. Jesus told us that if we love Him, God (the Trinity) will come and dwell within us. More than once St. Paul reminds us that we are “temples of the living God.” God is within each and every one of us. Do we realize that? Do we live out that truth? Today’s feast confronts us to examine ourselves and our lives. As good stewards we need to live with the certainty that the Blessed Trinity is present in us. Then we need to reflect that presence.
Pope Francis, in his homily on the Feast of the Holy Trinity in 2013, said, “In today’s feast we praise God for His glory is immense. We praise Him and thank Him for He is love, and He calls us to embrace Him and those around us with that love.”

REFLECIÓN DOMINICAL Hoy celebramos la solemnidad de la Santísima Trinidad. Eso significa que estamos celebrando a Dios en este día sagrado. En la Iglesia Católica es una solemnidad el día sagrado de más alto rango posible (seguido de una fiesta y un monumento). La Santísima Trinidad es el misterio central de nuestra fe católica. Como católicos reconocemos la Santa Trinidad cuando llegamos a una iglesia, y varias veces durante nuestras liturgias, así como otras veces. Cada vez que hacemos la señal de la cruz, cada vez que oramos más probable, estamos expresando nuestra fe en la Trinidad y nuestra fe en que la Trinidad fue revelada por Jesús en la cruz. Una parte de la administración es conocer nuestras tradiciones y los significados detrás de ellos.
Haciendo la señal de la cruz nunca debe ser un gesto vacío de nuestra parte. Jesús nos dijo que si lo amamos, Dios (la Trinidad) va a venir a vivir dentro de nosotros. Más de una vez St. Paul nos recuerda que somos "templos del Dios vivo." Dios está dentro de todos y cada uno de nosotros. ¿Nos damos cuenta de que? Cómo vivimos que la verdad? La fiesta de hoy nos enfrenta a examinarnos a nosotros mismos y nuestras vidas. Como buenos administradores que necesitamos para vivir con la certeza de que la Trinidad está presente en nosotros. Entonces tenemos que reflejar esa presencia.
Francisco, en su homilía en la fiesta de la Santa Trinidad en 2013, dijo: "En la fiesta de hoy alabamos a Dios por su gloria es inmensa. Le alabamos y le damos gracias porque Él es amor, y nos llama a abrazar Él y los que nos rodean con ese amor. "

Family Mental Illness Support Group

Sorrow helps us to see God, as we've never seen Him. Come share, pray and support families who have a love one with a brain disorder. Spend time with people who understand mental illness. St James is a place of support and community. The Prayer and Support Group meet on the fourth Thursday of the month.

New Media Ministry Looking for a Few Volunteers
As you’ve noticed by now, we begin each weekend Mass with a short video. We need a few people who can simply start and stop the video, then your job is done and you can go back to your seat. Free Concert Saturday May 21st at 7:30 pm in St. James Church! The Emerald Duo (Susan Doering, violin; and Dieter Wulfhorst, violoncello) will perform a concert titled “Dances From Around the World” with compositions by Handel, Vivaldi, Wolf‐Ferrari, Albeniz, Joplin, and others. The program will explore dances from the Baroque Era to the 20th century and from Italy to the Dominican Republic. Free‐will offering will be taken.

How would you like to save a life? The mobile unit of the San Diego Blood Bank will be at St. James Sunday, June 5, from 7:30 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. to receive blood donations. Bringing it close to home, we have had several parishioners whose lives have been saved by blood transfusions, and over the years we’ve been do‐ing it, your donations have saved over 9,000 lives. Re‐member: people are the only source ‐‐ there is no sub‐stitute. And only 3% of Americans ever donate blood. If you've never given blood before, now is the time to start. Let’s give them a big turnout!

Late Nite Catechism
Treasures From Our Tradition Around the turn of the fourth century, Augustine, still fairly fresh from the baptismal waters in Milan, was elected bishop of a tiny city in North Africa, Hippo. He told his people, “While I am frightened by what I am for you, then I am consoled by what I am with you. For you I am a bishop, with you I am a Christian.” He had his priorities right, and also knew that everyone coming from the water arises with a ministry, a specific role, in bringing about God’s kingdom.
If we were asked to purge English of Greek vocabulary, we would gain an insight into key ministries in our church. Bishop, from the Greek episkopos, would become simply “overseer;” priest, from the Greek presybter, would become “elder;” and deacon, from the Greek diakonos, would be “servant.” Each title stands in relationship to all the baptized, serving the community, helping it to be the Body of Christ. In our deepest tradition, each of these ordained ministries is attuned to help us become our best selves, to hunger and thirst for the coming of God’s kingdom. The goal for each one of us is to be able to recognize the presence of Christ in worship and in service. Although only some of us are ordained to ministry, each of us is called to ministry.

St. James—St. Leo Catholic Community is under the pastoral care of the Eudist Fathers, or Congregation of Jesus and Mary. We owe our name to Saint John Eudes who founded the Congregation in France in 1643. The Eudists currently operate in 15 countries, most of which are in the developing world. Evangelization, mainly with the poor and the youth, is our primary purpose, as well as formation to ministry in the

The Most Holy Trinity "The Spirit of truth... will take from what is mine and declare it to you." Jesus says in today's Gospel that the Spirit declares something to US. We actually have a kind of share in the blessed life of the Trinity through this spiritual declaration. In particular, God gives us the gift of his truth. Traditionally, we say that God‐‐the Blessed Trinity‐‐is the source of all truth, beauty, and goodness. Today's reading reminds us that truth exists, that it comes from God, and that we can know it, hear it, and live according to it. "But when he comes, the Spirit of truth, he will guide you to all truth."
This is so important to remember in today's cultural climate. These days, the very idea of truth is a touchy subject. Because there is so much focus on tolerance and not offending anyone, we tend to shy away from discussions about "absolute" truth. Instead, we hear a lot of talk about "what's true for me" or "what's true for you." Too often we get confused about how to respect others' differing beliefs while still maintaining our own. Instead of embracing the fact that there is real truth‐‐like, for example, the truth that God became man and was born of Mary‐‐it is more popular to refer to "beliefs" and "traditions" and "practices," emphasizing that these things differ among people. Yes, those things differ. But truth does not change. Either Jesus is God, or he isn't. Either his claims were true or they weren't. It's not a matter of personal opinion.
The Holy Spirit helps to convince us of what is really right. But we needn't fear that this will lead us to be intolerant. It is this same Spirit within us that brings the fruits of love, peace, patience, kindness, and generosity.
