The Catechism of the Catholic Church reminds us that “Easter is not simply one feast among others, but the ‘Feast of feasts,’ the ‘Solemnity of solemnities,’ just as the Eucharist is the ‘Sacrament of sacraments.’ The mystery of the Resurrection, in which Christ crushed death, permeates with its powerful energy our old time, until all is subjected to Him.” (#1169)  

It is difficult for us to fully comprehend the importance of this day and its meaning for us, its fulfillment of hope for us. We consider this to be the most important day on our Church calendar. If we have properly  approached the Lenten period, this day comes at the end of a period of prayer and fasting and almsgiving. We should have been prepared to spiritually die with Christ, and to rise as He did on this day to the promise of new life both in this world and the next.  

Christ has saved us, and that alone is reason for our joyous celebration. By receiving the Eucharist (communion) on this day, we make a visible sign of our faith and our participation in the Kingdom of God.  

Some are here today who may only come to church once a year, but this is the day to come to be sure. We welcome you with the love of Christ, and as good stewards, we invite you to become a more intimate part of our faith community, so that you, too, can  realize that “God is good — all the time.”

REFLECIÓN DOMINICAL          

El Catecismo de la Iglesia Católica nos recuerda que "Pascua no es simplemente una fiesta entre otras: es la" fiesta de las fiestas, "la" solemnidad de las solemnidades ", como la Eucaristía es el" sacramento de sacramentos. El misterio de la resurrección, en el que Cristo aplastado a la muerte, penetra con su poderosa energía en nuestro viejo tiempo, hasta que todo se somete a Él ". (# 1169)  

Es difícil para nosotros comprender plenamente la importancia de este día y su significado para nosotros, su cumplimiento de esperanza para nosotros. Consideramos que este es el día más importante en nuestro calendario de la Iglesia. Si hemos abordado adecuadamente el período de Cuaresma, el día de hoy se produce al final de un período de oración y el ayuno y la limosna. Deberíamos haber sido preparado para morir espiritualmente con Cristo, y se eleve como lo hizo en este día a la promesa de una nueva vida en este mundo y el siguiente.  

Cristo nos ha salvado, y que solo es motivo de nuestra celebración alegre. Al recibir la Eucaristía (comunión) en este día, hacemos un signo visible de nuestra fe y de nuestra participación en el Reino de Dios.  

Algunos son hoy aquí que sólo pueden venir a la iglesia una vez al año, pero este es el día para venir para estar seguro. Le damos la bienvenida con el amor de Cristo, y como buenos administradores, le invitamos a convertirse en una parte más íntima de nuestra comunidad de fe, por lo que, también, puede darse cuenta de que "Dios es bueno ‐ todo el tiempo."

HUNGERING FOR CELEBRATION  We prayed, fasted and gave alms—and now we  celebrate! Our Lenten journey with CRS Rice Bowl ends in our own hearts, where Jesus reigns forever.  Let us rejoice in our risen Lord—and in the lives we’ve changed this Lent in Colombia, Laos, Rwanda, Honduras,  Madagascar and all over the world! Don’t forget to turn in your CRS Rice Bowl by Sunday, April 10, 2016. 

Ministry of Consolation Seasons of Hope: A Support Group  

for the Bereaved

Ask and you will receive   

Come share, pray and support families who have a love one with a brain disorder.    

Spend time with people who understand mental  illness. St James is a place of support and  community.  The next Prayer and Support Group is March 31, 2016, at 7:ooPM in the social room.

It’s Tax Time! This free tax‐preparation service is available to low‐and  middle‐income taxpayers, with the primary focus being on those who are 60 and older. The service will be offered each Saturday morning between the hours of 9am and 1pm through April 16. First come, first served, walk‐in approach will be in effect. 

What is God calling you to do?  An Ignatian retreat for men

A pastor told his congregation, “Next week I plan to preach about the sin of lying. To help you understand my homily, I want you all to read Mark 17.”

The following Sunday, as he prepared to deliver his homily, the pastor asked for a show of hands. He wanted to know how many had read Mark 17. Every hand went up. The priest smiled and said, “Mark has only sixteen chapters. I will now proceed with my homily on the sin of lying.”

The Lighter Side

TREASURES FROM OUR TRADITION Fifty years or so ago, it was popular to teach that every Sunday is a “Little Easter.” Today, after several  decades of intense liturgical reform, it is more proper to think of today as a “Big Sunday.” On every Sunday of the year, the Church is obliged to assemble, keeping the day holy. In most places, we hardly attain the goal of gathering all who are in Christ by baptism. Look around today and see what a Big Sunday looks like!  

Our tradition speaks of remembering, anamnesis, as the antidote to “amnesia,” the tragic forgetting of who God is and who we are as God’s most beloved creation. On this Easter day, we are at our very best. We  remember who God is, and we remember who we are in God’s eyes: beloved sons and daughters, reborn to eternal life in baptismal waters. We rekindle our  candles and reclaim our baptismal promises. As a “Big Sunday,” today also reflects the character of festivity and leisure that should mark every Lord’s Day. We wear “Sunday best” today, and we may take some time,  especially in the northern states, to stroll through a budding garden. It is truly a “Big Sunday,” and how different our lives would be if we took its values and traditions forward into all the Sundays of our lives.

St. James—St. Leo Catholic Community is under the pastoral care of the Eudist Fathers, or Congregation of Jesus and Mary.  We owe our name to Saint John Eudes who founded the Congregation in France in 1643.  The Eudists currently operate in 15 countries, most of which are in the developing world.  Evangelization, mainly with the poor and the youth, is our primary purpose, as well as formation to ministry in the
