Avinash: I have to

mention this clearly -

this is not the sequel of

our previous show

"Choti Bahu". It is a

new concept that al-

lows us to retain our

previous names Dev

and Radhika but play

different characters.

My instant reaction,

when this offer came

my way was 'But how

is it possible?' For it is an

idea which is still un-

heard of.

Kuch ajeeb sa lag

raha tha. Yakeen hi nahin

hua. I couldn't digest the

fact that "Choti Bahu" was

coming back on the small

screen. Earlier the transition was

from Avinash to Dev. But now it's

from Avinash to Dev and Dev again

which is a different character.

Rubina: I would be lying if I say

the show doesn't throw any chal-

lenges. In fact, the biggest chal-

lenge will be to ensure

viewers don't look for

any parallels between

what has been aired

and what will be on

TV soon. It will be not

that easy to break the

image we created

earlier and allow view-

ers to have a fresh

perspective.

Why don't TV ac-tors who are asnow popular asB o l l y w o o dbiggies, get to en-dorse big products

and walk the ramp?Avinash: Yes that's

a fact. I believe, the key

reason for this could be

the kind of roles we es-

say.

Rubina: It is much

easier for viewers to

watch a Bollywood

or endorse that prod-

uct than believe that

saree/suit-clad TV's

bahu betiyan do

that. We can't go

beyond the bounds of

decency.

Foreigners are still surprised that Indians

can speak good English. Recently, on the

sets of Jhansi Ki Rani, Kratika Sengar, who

plays the title role, was required to deliver a

long monologue in English. Her single-take, flaw-

less delivery left the English actors on the sets

quite stumped. Actresses Ramola and Katrina

told Kratika that they had no idea she could

speak the language so well, upon which

Kratika informed them that most educated Indi-

ans have the same ability. Of course, given

our tendency to `prepone' and do things

`thrice', rather than `three times', its little won-

der people around the world aren't very aware

of our mastery over English.

actor Sudesh Berry has bagged yet another

negative role - that of a devious lawyer in Zee

TV's 'Dil Se Diya Vachan'.

His character is called Yashwant Sinha

and Sudesh is quite excited about taking for-

ward his association with the channel.

'The producers called me up and of course,

having worked with Zee TV on 'Agle Janam...'

as well, there is a certain comfort level that

exists. How could I say no? Also there are so

many parallels between Yashwant and Loha

that I almost feel like I am back on 'Agle

Janam...'!' Sudesh said in a press statement.

However, his look has been completely

changed for 'Dil Se Diya Vachan'. While in 'Agle

Janam...', he was seen in dhoti, kurta and a

bushy moustache, Sudesh will now be seen

in a suave avatar, complete with formal suits,

spectacles and no moustache.

gether legendary music exponents and new

talents to provide a diverse presentation of the

rich and varied forms of Indian music.

'Idea Jalsa - Music for the Soul' inaugural

episode saw a performance by Santoor mae-

stro Shivkumar Sharma.

Both Annu and Durga became hugely popu-

lar as hosts of music show 'Antakshari' in the

early 1990s. The show ran for 10 years.

Wife Bina Life, an Indian adaptation of

the Canadian show, The Week the

Women Went, challenges the Indian gender

stereotype which dictates that in a mar-

riage, the women are meant to look after

the house while the men bring home the

money. The show also speaks of itself as a

tribute to women who work ceaselessly

and often thanklessly to make their hus-

bands lives as comfortable as the latter

desire.

Ten women from a colony in Pune are

sent on vacation for two weeks, leaving

their respective husbands in charge of their

houses and children. Cameras follow these

men as they attempt to replicate the tasks

their wives carry out with ease. The

women, in the meanwhile, apart from en-

joying a luxurious vacation, are also watch-

ing their husbands closely, and will collec-

tively vote out one inefficient husband af-

ter the other. The last husband standing will

be deemed the winner.

Cyrus Sahukar and Mini Mathur, two well-

known television personalities, are the

hosts of Wife Bina Life. However, the stars

of this show are undeniably the 10 families

that are put through this test of separation.

Some episodes have celebrity guests

visit the contestants. For example in epi-

sode 4, Arshad Warsi makes an appear-

ance and speaks of his own `wife bina life'

experience in an attempt to motivate the

contestants. A number of other celebrities

are also slated to make appearances over

the 16 episodes that the show will run.

Glam dollis back

Model-turned-actress Reshmi Ghosh, who

features in 'Tere Liye' says she's okay do-

ing the "oomphy" bits on TV

"I did not go anywhere. I was very much

here," defends model-turned-actor Reshmi

Ghosh when asked about her disappearance

from TV. "I was doing small roles in serials like

"Aahat", "Seeta Geeta", etc. I also did a few

Bengali films. But unfortunately my work did not

get noticed," she rues.

Reshmi, who has just replaced an actor in

the serial "Tere Liye", says, "I don't mind being a

replacement to anyone. I had been asking Ekta

(Kapoor) why she didn't give me this role earlier

since it is of an aspiring model and a glamorous

part. When Ekta got a chance she gave me the

role. She sees me as a glam doll. I tried convinc-

ing her initially that I could do serious bahu roles

also, but to no avail. Now, even I've started think-

ing like her. Till the time my role has that oomph in

it, I don't mind whether I am the first choice for it

or the second," she smiles.

Ask Reshmi about her present relationship

status and she says, "I am absolutely single

now! And searching for Mr Right is.

Marathi story Avni Patil and her family will be the first

Maharashtrian parivar to tell their story

on Star Plus. This is the story of an ordi-

nary girl who wants to craft a new tradi-

tion and take responsibility of her mater-

nal home even after she gets married.

The serial talks about the several diffi-

cult situations in Avni's life as she goes

about finding a man, who will let her sup-

port her family even after marriage.

Anupam Vasudev, EVP marketing and

communication, Star India says, "Maayke

Se Bandhi Dor" is launched under the 'Ode

to women campaign' and presents a nayi

soch by challenging the belief that a woman

should give up her responsibilities towards

her maayka after marriage." The show

produced by UTV, has many well-

known Marathi actors l ike Rohini

Hattangadi and Aishwarya Narker.

Anjan Shrivastav, Rohit Khurana and

Shweta Munshi are also a part of the

cast. The show will replace "Behnein."

NavyaNavya, the new show

starting 15th March, re-

places Tere Liye which is com-

ing to an end. It is a simple love

story between two rookie ac-

tors.

Navya belongs to a middle class

North Indian family in Mumbai. The story

talks about the girl's journey, how her life

changes when she gets married. Newcomer

Soumya Seth has been cast as Navya and

Saheer Shaikh, another newcomer, plays

Navya's love interest. Noted actress Kshitee

Jog plays Navya's mother.

Comedy KaMaha MuqablaStar Plus' upcoming big ticket reality show,

COMEDY KA MAHA MUQABLA has roped

in some big names to head the four teams in

the show - Raveena Tandon, Arshad Warsi,

Shekhar Suman and Shreyas Talpade will be

the mentors. The show goes on air 20 March.

The teams will have a mix of television ac-

tors and stand-up comedians. Of all, there will

be 20 contestants seen in the show.

Rashmi Desai of Uttaran fame and Aashka

Goradia, the vamp in Laagi Tujhse Lagan, have

agreed to participate. Among the comedians,

there will be Sudesh Lahiri, Raju Shrivastav,

Kapil Sharma and Salini Daini. Actors Pooja Gor

and Jay Soni are also likely to join.

The structure of the show is similar to that

of Music Ka Maha Muqabla, where each team

of singers had a mentor who doubled up as a

judge for other teams.

The show, unlike Comedy Circus on Sony

Entertainment, won't have comedians working

in duos or trios, but as individual performers.

The build-up episodes for The STAR

PARIVAAR AWARDS 2011, which were

hosted at the Venetian, Macao, will be aired from

29 March to 3 April.

"We have not called for entries this time

because we fear that there may be some

couples who do not intend to marry and

would come on the show for publicity or

money. We have a research team who are

trying to find couples whose wedding

dates have been fixed," said Nikhil Madhok,

Senior Director, Imagine (Marketing and

Communications).

The channel will divide the award of Rs

3 crore equally between the families of the

bride and the groom. All the wedding ritu-

als will be captured from start to end and

aired.

Monster hitSRK's new show "Zor ka

Jhatka" on Imagine has

caught people's fancy and is

turning out to be a monster hit

amongst kids. While the funny

spills, falls and jhatkas are mak-

ing everyone go silly laughing,

it's his new TLA (Three Letter

Acronyms) which are a big hit

with the audience. The most

popular one is GPL or Grand

Pichwaada Laat! We hear that

kids are talking about GPLs and

Big Balls, much to the surprise

of their parents. And in the epi-

sode featuring a double role by

SRK as Raj and Suri from "Rab

Ne Bana Di Jodi", there are more

GPLs in store.

Apparently SRK had to shoot

for 13 hours at a stretch for this

episode, shooting separately for

both the roles. It's the first time

something like this has been at-

tempted on television and a huge

amount of effort has gone in to

make sure the final effect is of

It's been a long break from televisionfor you. Happy to be back in familiarterritory?

Of course, it is good to be back. I am

happier because I waited long enough for

the right script to come my way. It is nice to

be facing the camera and being praised for

those shots. I am already working 12 hours.

But it is less than the work hours I used to

put in previously.

What made you take up the role in RangBadalti Odhni?

This role is very different from what I have

done earlier. For the first time, I have been

offered a rustic character who sports tradi-

tional attire.

Also, the role was that of a man who

believes in being happy and making other

people of his village happy. I provide comic

relief on the show.

The soap has been going on for a whilenow. Was it easy to fit into the scheme ofthings?

Although I haven't been following it, it was

easy to fit in. My director narrated the story to

me and told me what is required of me. It is a

mark of a good actor to fit into any circum-

stance you are thrown into.

Over the years has it become difficult tofind roles that fit your stature?

It definitely has. There are certain roles I

wouldn't want to do because I have already

done similar ones. There are also budget con-

straints. My name comes with a certain budget

attached to it. Sometimes the producers find it

difficult to take me in the show and then earn

profit too.

You garnered a lot of adulation asPratham Mittal in Kutumb and then KaranVirani in Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi BahuThii. Do you miss those days of mass popu-larity?

My fans do not allow me to miss that popu-

larity.

They still send me messages and mails, and

ask me to return to television. So it feels nice

that there are still people who believe in my

talent.

But talking about those days, even at the

peak of my popularity, I knew that it wouldn't

last forever. So when it ended, I was pre-

pared for it.

Would you do a show with Balaji again?Definitely. It is not like I had a fallout with

them. I will do a show for them if they offer

me something different and interesting.

IS Bollywood driving the small screen or

is the television industry backing the stars

these days? A look at the numbers that

Bollywood stars pocket each time they

appear on the small screen is enough to

back the latter idea. The days when

Amitabh Bachchan was the biggest star

and a crore meant big money on the small

screen are passe.

Recently, the industry has been abuzz

with news that the latest entrant into the

small screen, Hrithik Roshan, who will be

hosting the dance show Just Dance, has

demanded Rs 2 crore for each episode. This

comes in quick succession after the hoopla

about Salman Khan's "whopping" Rs 2.5 crore

that he received for each

episode of Bigg Boss in

which he starred in its

fourth season. Though

dubbed as King Khan, Shah

Rukh Khan is merely at par

with Roshan, also taking

home Rs 2 crore per

episode for Zor Ka Jhatka, a show that

hasn't even grabbed as many eyeballs as

rently faced with a low phase in his career,

was at par with Bachchan for MasterChef

India. Sadly, however much the leading la-

dies of Bollywood draw crowds, they are

barely at par with the men.

Yesteryear's sensation Madhuri Dixit re-

turned on screen with dance talent show Jhalak

Dikhla Jaa for no more than Rs 50 lakh per epi-

sode. Priyanka Chopra, who hosted Fear Fac-

tor Season 3, had demanded the same amount.

Favourite comebacksThe popular television show Chandrakanta

is all set to be back in a new avatar on

the small screen. Called Kahani Chandrakanta

Ki, the show will be the story of Prince

Virendra Singh and princess Chandrakanta's

children.

But this show of 1995 is not the only one

making a comeback, even the cult shows

Hum Log and Wagle Ki Duniya are being re-

made. So, telly actors were asked which

shows they would like to see make a come-

back, the following are the ones that stayed

on the top in everyone's list:

NukkadCo-directed by Kundan Shah and Saeed

Akhtar Mirza, the TV serial, which aired in 1986

on DD National, dealt with the struggles of ur-

ban youth, trying to make a living in an increas-

ingly harsh social and economic climate.

"The simplicity and the diversity of the

characters in Nukkad was incredible, It was

a beautiful woven story which never had

any dull moment," says actor Nandish

Sandhu.

Yeh Jo Hai ZindagiThe popularity of this 1984 comedy. Writ-

ten by Sharad Joshi, can be gauged from the

fact that video stores in London would await

periodically for the copy of the serial's tape.

"This show had great performances by

Swaroop Sampat and Shafi Inamdar. Such

comedies are hardly made today," says ac-

tor Varun Badola.

Dekh Bhai DekhThis sit-com, which went on air in 1993,

revolved around three generations of the

extended Diwan family. Actors Sushma Seth,

Navin Nischol and Shekhar Suman et al played

the lead roles in this comedy show.

"I have so many childhood memories at-

tached to the show. It would be awesome to

see the Diwan family again," says actor

Shweta Salve.

Banegi Apni BaatProduced by Tony and Deeya Singh, this

show aired on Zee TV in 1994 and openly

talked about issues such as sex, sex edu-

cation, affairs, illegal children among others

which were considered taboo at that time.

the new confessional chamber of

Bollywood, showing B-town celebrities for

what they really are. A bunch of ambitious,

brash and cheeky people, as prone to self

praise as to the criticism of their colleagues. It

speaks most unguardedly notches maximum

"People in the entertainment business ap-

image creation," says director Mahesh Bhatt.

"Slander is now legitimate," believes Bhatt.

Ad-man Alyque Padamsee says, "The film in-

dustry is now more competitive than it was

and bitching is a part of it. It's bound to hap-

pen," he says. With dirty linen laundered

openly, KJo's dhobi ghat is the hotbed of a

public display of lack of affection. Remember

the shocking suds, don't you? Deepika

Padukone suggested that former boyfriend

Ranbir Kapoor should endorse condoms and

also realised that this season, the women are

more outspoken than men."

tantly, knowing he wouldn't get the most de-

sirable answer but can at least leave viewers

guessing.

Celebrities have also realised that this is a

good platform to play to the gallery. They can

not only promote their own films, but give it

back to those who were nasty about them.

Each gets a vicarious turn. Winners or losers,

they start glowing when they answer Karan,

revelling in the attention of the camera.

"Karan is fun and makes everybody feel

very comfortable and he uses this gift on the

show. He hasn't changed at all from season

one," says director Farah Khan, also Johar's

close friend. That's the problem. His friends

are unable to critique him. No wonder, his guest

list boasts of A-listers.

The rest are brought in to balance the act

but they end up looking like props.

Done with bitching about Rakhi Sawant,

Johar went on to invite her to the show as if

she had finally entered the `circuit'. She ad-

mits as much.

"People who want to work with Karan

Johar, go on the show. He is a big director

before being anyone's friend," says Sawant,

who was his guest in season two and wants

to be back on the couch.

"While filming Tanu Weds Manu, I went to

Chandigarh for the schedules. I didn't ex-

pect to meet all my college friends and hos-

tel roommates. I've been there so many times

but I've never met all my friends together

because someone is married, someone is

working in a different city, and someone is

settled abroad. But fortunately, this time I had

a chance to revisit memories with the people

associated closely with them," recalls

Ranaut. "I have to thank the makers of

this film for bringing my old friends back

into my life in some way or the other. I

met and spent so much time with my

college group. And then, when I read

the script, certain aspects of Tanu's

behaviour reminded me of my theatre

group friend from Delhi a lot." Says the

actor.

poser Lalit Pandit and singer Mamta Sharma

have collaborated to work on another track for

Raj Kumar Santoshi's next movie. The com-

poser-singer confirms the news, "I can't tell

you the words because that will be giving away

too much too soon. But I must admit that Mamta

sings very well. Our team is so popular after

Munni badnaam hui. I liked her work, so we

decided to collaborate again."

Pandit has also been signed on for Dabangg

2, though he says the film is still being scripted.

"Till the final draft is not sealed, I don't think I

can start working on the score. But I'll definitely

create one more raunchy number like Munni.

My song will depend on the situation and

whether it's a `munna' or a `munni' lip-syncing it

in the film," he chuckles.

The composer's track for Arbaaz Khan's

debut production Dabangg has won the

soundtrack several awards, but he, himself is

yet to receive a trophy. "At one of the func-

tions, Arbaaz `bhai' (brother) didn't know I was

around. When my name was announced, he

waited for 30 seconds, but after that, he walked

over to collect my trophy and delivered a lovely

speech on my behalf," recalls Pandit.

"I think it's amazing to be compared with

"I've seen my mom's films. She's awe-

some. But I don't see that much of resem-

blance between us," he added. After play-

ing a socio-economically challenged mem-

ber of a backward community in Dhobi Ghat,

Prateik will now be seen as a denizen of

the privileged class in Prakash Jha's

Aarakshan. Talking about his role, he said,

"It's something that I haven't done before. It

has to appeal to me and challenge me. That's

why I did Dhobi Ghat. I never thought I could

carry off the lingo and body language of a

they feel good content will drive occupancies

and stand against cricket drawing all of the

crowd, say producers. "It is about timing the

release smartly during the cricket season," UTV

the frills and thrills of stardom

In spite of the buzz over 7 Khoon Maaf, your

alleged relationship with Shahid Kapoor seems

to be more in the news.

It's part of my job. I don't care. It affects me

when malicious things that damage my self-dig-

nity are written about. A lot that's written is ex-

aggerated. I stand by everything I do. Even if I

do something wrong, I will stand by it.

Is there any story in the recent past thatreally upset you?

Yes. All the reports that followed the Income

Tax raids. I would never deny the fact that offi-

cials from the IT department came to my house.

I was happy helping them with everything they

needed. They stayed at my house for long,

which is fine. My parents were there, we or-

dered pizzas and were chatting while they were

doing their job. The stories that are coming out

are baseless.

Why didn't you retaliate?I did give a statement. But after a point, I was

like, why should I give more things that will be

written about.

But you do not deny that Shahid Kapoorwas at your place when the IT raids hap-pened.

When the IT officials came, I was alone at

home. My parents had stepped out. The only

person I could have called was Shahid, because

he stays just a block away and is a good friend.

So yes, I did call him.

Are you happy with the excitement overyour new film 7 Khoon Maaf?

Absolutely. It has been a tough shoot, both

physically and mentally. I think the tough part

was the physical aspect. We made use of pros-

thetics from ages 40 to 60. We spent five hours

everyday doing the makeup. There were times

when I was playing a 20-year-old and the next

day I had to play a 50-year-old. The challenge

was to remember the mannerisms and traits of

each phase.

Vishal Bhardwaj is not known to repeathis heroines. Are you flattered with thehonour?

I am flattered that this is Vishal's first woman-

oriented film. When he came to me with the script

he told me, "This is my first film with a woman

protagonist and I know only you can portray it

well".

What is the best part of working withVishal?

Father-son row & cricketPatiala House is a compelling watch for its drama and histrionics. It's a

film that explores the father-son relationship and not just those in

India, but around the world. The merging of its engaging drama with

cricket makes it stand out from the earlier Akshay starrers. Especially its

penultimate 30 minutes, which are its brightest?

It is an old-fashioned Hindi movie with big drama, solid dialogue-baazi

and moments that are genuinely moving and rousing.

Akshay as Gattu, a forlorn man who has watched his dreams die, is

effectively restrained and refreshingly sincere. The central conflict in

the film is between Gattu and his father, Bauji, played by Rishi Kapoor.

Bauji seems like a long-lost sibling of Chaudhary Baldev Singh, the stern

patriarch from Dilwale Dulhania Le Jeyenge.

Bauji also lives in London's Southall area and has never assimilated

into his adopted country. He suffered racial attacks, was jailed for vio-

lence against 'goras' and now hates them with such a passion that he

prefers that his son, who is a cricket prodigy waste his life running a

convenience store than play for the English team.

Each one in the family has ambitions to be something suitably different

- chef, filmmaker, rapper - but each one stays quiet until the fiery Simran,

played by a hyper Anushka Sharma, prods Gattu and eventually the

family into rebellion.

Innovative story, brand new approach

Yeh Saali Zindagi, has generated the buzz for a variety of reasons,

not the least being its title.

It requires a fearless and courageous film-maker [Prakash Jha] to

back an audacious film-maker [Sudhir Mishra] to create a motion pic-

ture that defies stereotype. The risk involved is colossal, but the satis-

faction of having created a product that has tremendous shelf life is

incalculable.

Yeh Saali Zindagi comes as a courageous attempt. It has the guts

and valor to narrate an innovative story with a brand new approach.

The content is quirky, the relationships depicted in the film are com-

plex and twisted and the format of narrating the story [including the edit

pattern] is poles apart from what one is used to watching in the cus-

tomary Hindi film. Even the spoken language is harsh, crude, with lots

of expletives and swear words thrown in. But that's the beauty of this

film. It walks a different path.

Arun [Irrfan Khan] has to save Priti [Chitrangda Singh], the woman

he loves, but for that he first has to save the man Priti loves, Shyam

[Vipul Gupta], the future son-in-law of a powerful Minister. Meanwhile,

time is running out for Kuldeep [Arunoday Singh], the young gangster

who is on his last job as his wife [Aditi Rao Hydari] is threatening to

walk out on him and he begins to suspect she is leaving him to go into

the arms of another man. The job has gone haywire for it is still un-

known to Kuldeep that the Minister's daughter's engagement with

Shyam is off and now she doesn't care whether Shyam lives or dies

and more importantly, neither does the Minister who Kuldeep hoped

would pay the ransom. Priti finds herself inextricably caught in this

mess and Arun has to save her life.

has surely begun on a lucky note for Rani Mukerji.

After receiving appreciation for her portrayal of a

hardcore journalist in No One Killed Jessica (NOKJ),

Rani has proven her acting credentials to an industry

that had almost written her off.

Rani became part of a Bengali family that was

heavily involved in films. Her father is Ram Mukherjee,

a director and co-founder of Filmalaya Studios while

her mother Krishna was a playback singer. Her brother

is producer turned director Raja Mukherjee. Her ma-

ternal aunt is a National Award winning actress

Debashree Roy. Actors Kajol, Tanisha and Mohnish

Behl are her cousins.

Rani first faced the cameras when she was four-

teen years old in a brief appearance in her father's

Bengali film Biyer Phool in 1992.

Her first full-fledged Bollywood film was Salim

Akhtar's Raja Ki Aayegi Baraat in 1996.

In 1998 with two hits Ghulam with Aamir Khan and

as Tina in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai opposite Shah Rukh

Khan and cousin Kajol. She won the Filmfare Best

Supporting Actress Award for her role as Tina.

In 2002 she had hits like Mujhse Dosti Karoge and

Saathiya. Her role as Dr. Suhani Sharma in the latter

won her the Filmfare Critics Award for Best Perfor-

mance. Of the films released in 2003, her perfor-

mance in Chalte Chalte received a nomination for the

Filmfare Best Actress Award.

In 2004, her convincing portrayal of Sashi Biswas

in Yuva won her another Filmfare Best Supporting

Actress Award. She won the Filmfare Best Actress

Award for her role in Hum Tum with Saif Ali Khan. Her

role in Veer Zara as a Pakistani lawyer was nomi-

nated for the Filmfare Best Supporting Actress Award.

2005 was a big year for Rani as her releases like

the critically acclaimed Black, the comedy Bunty Aur

Babli, Paheli and The Rising hit the screens. Paheli

with Shah Rukh Khan was India's entry to the Os-

cars. She was nominated for the Filmfare Best Ac-

tress Award for two of her roles the deaf-blind

Michelle in Black and the notorious Vimmi alias Babli in

Bunty Aur Babli. She finally won it for Black along

with the Filmfare Critics Award for Best Performance.


Chocolate andStrawberryCheesecakeA delightful combination ofchocolate, strawberry and yogurt.- A must try recipe.

INGREDIENTS

• Chocolate, grated 1 cup

• Chocolate chip

biscuits, coarsely

powdered 8-10

• Strawberry jam 2

tablespoons

• Strawberries, hulled

as required

• Butter, melted 2

tablespoons

• Fresh cream,

chilled 1 cup

• Sugar 1/2 cup

• Hung yogurt 1 cup

• Gelatin 2 teaspoons

• Strawberry essence

1 teaspoon

METHOD

Add the melted butter to the

coarsely powdered chocolate chip biscuits and

mix. Transfer the mixture into a spring bottom

cake tin, spread evenly and press gently.

Keep it in the refrigerator to set. Add one

tablespoon water to the strawberry jam and

mix wellPlace fresh cream in a bowl. Add sugar

and beat with a hand blender. Add hung yo-

gurt and continue to beat.

Take quarter cup water in a bowl and heat

in the microwave. Add gelatin and set aside to

melt. Melt the chocolate in the microwave on

HIGH for one minute.

Take it out and whisk till smooth. Add the

melted gelatin to the cream mixture and mix

well. Add strawberry essence and mix. Pass

the mixture through a muslin cloth into another

bowl. You will get a smooth mixture and there

will be no lumps. Remove the spring bot-

tom tin from the refrigerator and

pour the cream mixture over the

biscuit layer. Level the top.

Similarly

take the melted chocolate in a spoon and draw

lines after each strawberry line. With the tip

of a knife swirl the surface to get a marbled

effect.

Arrange the strawberries along the outer

edge of the cheesecake and place it in the

refrigerator to set for two to two and a half

hours. If you wish to decorate it further, you

can place a heart shaped stencil over the

cheesecake, once it is well set, and spread

strawberry jam. Gently remove the stencil to

get a strawberry heart in the centre of the

cheesecake. Cut into wedges and serve.

• Cooked rice 2 cups

• Butter 2 tablespoons

• Olive oil 1 tablespoon

• Garlic, chopped 4-5 cloves

• Onion , chopped 1 medium

• Button mushrooms, sliced 8-10

• Spinach, roughly chopped 1 bunch

• Salt to taste

• Black pepper powder to taste

• Fresh cream 1/2 cup

• Parmesan cheese, grated 1/4 cup

METHODPreheat oven to 180OC. Heat a pan, add but-

ter and oil. When butter melts add garlic and

onion and sautÈ for two minutes. Add mush-

rooms and let them sweat. Add spinach, salt

and pepper powder and stir. Add rice and mix

well. Add cream and mix and transfer the mix-

ture into a baking dish. Sprinkle half the

parmesan cheese. Break the eggs one by one

over the rice and let them settle at little distance

from each other. Sprinkle the remaining cheese.

Put the dish in the microwave at 60%

and cook for five minutes

or till the eggs set.

Serve hot.
