The Evolution App

Who: The 42% of Americans who do not believe in evolution (or people who just want to learn about it).

What: Helping them understand it. When: As soon as is possible.

Where: Everywhere, but particularly the United States’ South.Why: Belief in evolution greatly increases one’s view of the

world.

Too many people do not understand/believe in evolution.

How can we show people using a simple app how animals

adapted to stimuli over a period of time?

42% of Americans do not believe in evolution.

Evolution App

My team, OWS 7th A, is developing Evolution App to help interested people understand evolution with a fun

simulation.

Susan(Bellevue College student)

● A 42 year old training to be a nurse.

● Took a biology college class and became interested in the sciences.

● Has very little spare time.● Did not have a particularly

science-based education (master’s degree is in Slavic languages).

● Would enjoy any new and interesting information.

Eric(Microsoft software engineer)

● Is very skilled in technology.● Works an average of 10 hours

per day.● Knows a lot about the sciences

but is always interested in new discoveries.

● Does not have much spare time.● Would be pleased to learn

anything new.

The app is built very simply, and it’s main function is to operate the

simulation.

I think we have the required skills to program this app, and with a little boosting of time from at home, we ought to be able to program it successfully.

The other main apps on evolution we found were Alpaca Evolution

(which is self-explanatory) and Little Evolution (which is for toddlers and shows imaginary creatures). Our’s is actually about real animals’

evolution on Earth and is more sophisticated.At first, we were going to make our app on the geological history of

Earth, but in the middle we changed our minds about that and turned to the evolution of animals on Earth.
