En mi primer libro, querido Teófilo, traté todo lo que Jesús comenzó a hacer y enseñar, hasta el día en que después de haber instruido por el Espíritu Santo a los Apóstoles que había elegido, ascendió al cielo. En aquél tiempo: se apareció Jesús a los Once, cuando estaban a la mesa, y les echó en cara su incredulidad y dureza de corazón, porque no habían creído a los que lo habían visto resucitado. Y les dijo: Salid al mundo entero, y proclamad el Evangelio a toda criatura. El que crea y se bautice, será salvado: el que se resista a creer, será condenado. A los que crean, los acompañarán estos signos: Echarán en mi nombre demonios, hablarán en lenguas extrañas, cogerán serpientes en sus manos, y si beben un veneno mortal, no les hará daño. Impondrán las manos a los enfermos y quedarán sanos. El Señor Jesús, después de decirles esto, ascendió al cielo y se sentó a la derecha de Dios. It is truly meet and just, right and availing unto salvation, that we should at all times and in all places give thanks unto Thee, O holy Lord, Father almighty and eternal God; through Christ our Lord. Who after His resurrection appeared and showed Himself to all His disciples; and while they beheld Him, was lifted up into heaven, so that He might make us partakers of His Godhead. And therefore with Angels and Archangels, with Thrones and Dominations, and with all the hosts of heaven, we sing a hymn to Thy glory, without ceasing:
