Aquatics PreschoolGROUP CHILD WITH PARENT SWIM LESSONS

Shrimp, Kipper, Inia, & Perch Levels - This YMCA program provides the highest quality of early water experiences for children age 6 -36 months. Four levels of progression will see your child through water adjustment and onto basic skills. Program instruction is directed toward helping you work with your child. Each child is always accompanied by one parent. Classes maybe combined based on enrollment.

Level 1: Shrimp Level Age: 6-8 months. Level 2: Kipper Level Age: 9-12 months. Level 3: Inia Level Age: 13-18 months. Level 4: Perch Level Age: 19-36 months.

GROUP PRESCHOOL SWIM LESSONS (Ages: 3-5)

Level 1: PIKE with Parent - Is your child just not ready to be alone for swim lessons? This is a transitional class in which we will wean your child away from mom and dad. The next level from here would be Pike. Your child must be 3-years old during the session. Family membership is required to receive member rate.

Level 1: PIKE - The first level of lessons is for beginning swimmers. Swimmers should be able to listen to instructions and follow directions. Swimmers will learn the basic paddle stroke on the front, back and sides. They will also be taught kicking skills and putting their face in the water.

Level 2: EEL - Swimmers will learn to jump in without assistance, float on their front and back for 20 seconds with or without an IFD. Swimmers will also learn to paddle on front, back and side for 25 yards with an IFD and 15 feet without. Prerequisites: To enter this level, swimmers should be able to front and back float 20 seconds with an IFD. Swimmers should also paddle on their front, back and side for 10 yards with an IFD, and 5 feet without.

Level 3: RAY - In this class swimmers will learn to front and back float 30 seconds without an IFD; front alternating paddle with rhythmic breathing 25 yards with an IFD, and 20 feet without. Swimmers will also learn front symmetrical paddle with rhythmic breathing 25 yards with an IFD, and 20 feet without; do a side alternating paddle for 25 yards with an IFD and 20 feet without; back alternating paddle for 25 yards with an IFD and 20 feet without; and back symmetrical paddle for 25 yards with an IFD and 20 feet without. Prerequisites: To enter this level, swimmers should be able to jump in without assistance, float on their front and back for 20 seconds with or without an IFD. Swimmers should also paddle on front, back and side for 25 yards with an IFD and 15 feet without.

Level 4: STARFISH - In this class swimmers will learn to do a standing dive; basic front crawl rotary breathing 25 yards; basic breaststroke 25 yards; backstroke 25 yards; elementary backstroke 25 yards; basic sidestroke 25 yards; and tread water 1 minute. Prerequisites: To enter this level, swimmers should be able to front and back float 30 seconds without an IFD; front alternating paddle with rhythmic breathing 25 yards with an IFD, and 20 feet without. Swimmers also need to be able to front symmetrical paddle with rhythmic breathing 25 yards with an IFD, and 20 feet without; do a side alternating paddle for 25 yards with an IFD and 20 feet without; back alternating paddle for 25 yards with an IFD and 20 feet without; and back symmetrical paddle for 25 yards with an IFD and 20 feet without.

GROUP SCHOOL AGE SWIM LESSONS (Ages: 6-12)

Level 1: POLLIWOG - This is the beginning level for school age children and is appropriate for anyone new to the water or with little formal instruction. Children will learn the basic paddle stroke on their front, back and sides, kicking skills and will become comfortable putting their face in the water.

Level 2: GUPPY - In this class swimmers will learn to front and back float 1-minute; front alternating paddle 25 yards with rhythmic breathing with and without an IFD; front symmetrical paddle 25 yards; back symmetrical paddle 25 yards; back alternating paddle 25 yards; side alternating paddle 25 yards; and kneeling dive. Prerequisites: To enter this level, children should be able to front and back float for 30 seconds with or without an IFD; paddle 25 yards on their front, back and side with an IFD, and 15 feet without an IFD; jump in without assistance; be comfortable in deep water.

Level 3: MINNOW - In this class swimmers will learn to do a standing dive; basic front crawl rotary breathing 25 yards; basic breaststroke 25 yards; backstroke 25 yards; elementary backstroke 25 yards; basic sidestroke 25 yards; and tread water 1 minute. Prerequisites: To enter this level, children should be able to front and back float 1-minute; front alternating paddle 25 yards with rhythmic breathing with and without an IFD; front symmetrical paddle 25 yards; back symmetrical paddle 25 yards; back alternating paddle 25 yards; side alternating paddle 25 yards; and kneeling dive.

Level 5: FLYING FISH - In this class swimmers will learn to do a flip turn; swim 100 yards front crawl with bilateral breathing; swim 100 yards breaststroke; swim 100 yards backstroke; swim 100 yards elementary backstroke; swim 100 yards sidestroke alternating sides; swim 100 yards lifesaving sidestroke; and swim 15 yards butterfly. Prerequisites: To enter this level, children should be able to tread water for 3-minutes; swim 50 yards front crawl; swim 50 yards breaststroke with legal kick and arm pulls; swim 50 yards backstroke; swim 50 yards elementary backstroke with a glide; swim 50 yards sidestroke with a scissors kick; and swim 15 yards butterfly.

Level 6: SHARK - In this class swimmers will learn to take their own heart rate; learn about open water and backyard pool safety; swim 100 yards from crawl with flip turns; swim 100 yards breaststroke with pull-out; swim 50 yards inverted breaststroke; swim 100 yards backstroke with dolphin kick and pullout; swim 50 yards over arm side stroke; swim 25 yards butterfly with streamline; and swim 200 yards individual medley. Prerequisite: To enter this level, children should be able to do a flip turn; swim 100 yards front crawl with bilateral breathing; swim 100 yards breaststroke; swim 100 yards backstroke; swim 100 yards elementary backstroke; swim 100 yards sidestroke alternating sides; swim 100 yards lifesaving sidestroke; and swim 15 yards butterfly.

Stroke Clinic - This class helps develop stroke technique. It is for the advanced swimmer who would like to continue with a swim program and are not currently interested in swim team, are contemplating joining a team, or are currently on a swim team and would like to swim between seasons to stay conditioned. Must be able to swim all swim strokes for a minimum of 200 yards, do flip turns, and tread water.

Goldfish - This program is for participants who need more individualized attention and practice time and has 3-to-1 ratio class. The class uses equipment appropriate for students needing extra support and assistance. Class instructors are trained Adaptive Aquatics instructors with experience working with and teaching mainstream, semi-private, and private classes for individuals with special needs.

Red Cross Junior Lifeguard (Age: 11-15 years) - This program is designed for the advanced swimmer. This class will also provide a foundation of aquatics knowledge and skills for future successful completion of the Red Cross Lifeguard Class. Prerequisites: Must be able to swim the front crawl, breast stroke, and backstroke for 25 yards; tread water for 1 minute; submerge and swim 10 feet under water.

Private and Semi Private Lessons 6 Lesson Pkg. - Private and Semi private lessons start at age 3 and up. This package includes 6 lessons that are Thirty-minutes in length. Stop by the front desk for a private lesson request form.

Preschool Enrichment2014-2015 Precious People Preschool (3-5 years old)- Teachers lead your child in a fun, exciting experience. Children have fun learning through creative play, crafts, music and educational tools. We also expose your child to a physical curriculum that includes swimming, tumbling, fitness and ice skating. All classes are planned with age-appropriate themes. Child must be fully potty trained.

Youth Fitness Youth Fitness (6-12) will challenge kids to exercise their minds and bodies. Each class will consist of aerobic exercises, core strength, stability, and muscle flexibility.

Junior Guard (Age: 11-15 years)This program is designed for the advanced swimmer. This class will also provide a foundation of aquatics knowledge and skills for future successful completion of the Red Cross Lifeguard Class. Prerequisites: Must be able to swim the front crawl, breast stroke, and backstroke for 25 yards; tread water for 1 minute; submerge and swim 10 feet under water.

GRIT Les Mills GRIT Series includes three 30 minute high intensity interval training that will increase your aerobic capacity and accelerate fat burning while building strength, muscular endurance and power. With every workout, you'll work more muscle tissue and keep calories burning for hours longer than with traditional training.

TRX is the suspension training system that utilizes full core strength to engage every muscle of the body. Our TRX classes vary to suit different levels and different needs. Use your core and TRX to elevate you to new fitness goals. Each class is 45 minutes. Times and days must be selected at time of registration. Due to small class, NO refunds will be given for TRX.

Floor Hockey Learn the basics of floor hockey and play games.

Modern Arnis This is a fun martial arts class, blending Filipino stick, karate and jujitsu. Perfect for all ages.
