Parent/Child 5 WeeksLevel 1: Pike With Parent Is your child just not ready to be alone for swim lessons or is too advance for the infant classes but is not old enough to go by themselves. This is a transitional class between infant class and the by themselves class. The next level is the Pike class. Family membership is required to receive the member rate.

Level 1: Shrimp/Kipper Age:6-12 months. Program instruction in this class is directed toward helping parents to work with their child to feel more comfortable in the water and to develop basic water safety and swim skills. Each child should always be accompanied by one parent.

Level 2: Inia/Perch Age: 13-36 months. Program instruction in this class is directed toward helping parents to work with their child to feel more comfortable in the water and to develop basic water safety and swim skills. Each child should always be accompanied by one parent.

Preschool (Ages 3-5)Level 1: Pike The first level of lessons is for beginning swimmers. Swimmers should be able to listen to instructions and follow directions. Swimmers will learn the basic paddle stroke on the front, back, and sides. They will also be taught kicking skills and putting their face in the water.

Level 2: Eel Swimmers will learn to jump in without assistance, float on their front and back for 20 seconds with or without an IFD. Swimmers will also learn to paddle on front, back and side for 25 yards with an IFD and 15 feet without. Prerequisites: To enter this level, swimmers should be able to front and back float 20 seconds with an IFD. Swimmers should also paddle on their front, back and side for 10 yards with an IFD, and 5 feet without.

Level 3: Ray In this class swimmers will learn to front and back float 30 seconds without an IFD: front alternating paddle with rhythmic breathing 25 yards with an IFD, and 20 feet without. Swimmers will also learn front symmetrical paddle with rhythmic breathing 25 yards with an IFD, and 20 feet without; do a side alternating paddle for 25 yards with an IFD and 20 feet without; back alternating paddle for 25 yards with an IFD and 20 feet without; and back symmetrical paddle for 25 yards with an IFD and 20 feet without. Prerequisites: to enter this level, swimmers should be able to jump in without assistance, float on their front and back for 20 seconds with or without an IFD. Youth (Ages 6-12)Level 1: Polliwog This is the beginning level for school age children and is appropriate for anyone new to the water or with little formal instruction. Children will learn the basic paddle stroke on their front, back and sides, kicking skills and will become comfortable putting their face in the water.

Level 2: Guppy In this class swimmers will learn to front and back float 1-minute; front alternating paddle 25 yards with rhythmic breathing with and without an IFD; front symmetrical paddle 25 yards; back symmetrical paddle 25 yards; back alternating paddle 25 yards; side alternating paddle 25 yards; and kneeling dive. Prerequisites:To enter this level, children should be able to front and back float for 30 seconds with or without an IFD; paddle 25 yards on their front, back and side with an IFD, and 15 feet without an IFD; jump in without assistance; be comfortable in deep water.

Level 3: Minnow In this class swimmers will learn to do a standing dive; basic front crawl rotary breathing 25 yards; basic breaststroke 25 yards; backstroke 25 yards; elementary backstroke 25 yards; basic sidestroke 25 yards; tread water 1 minute. Prerequisites: To enter this level, children should be able to front and back float 1-minute; front alternating paddle 25 yards with rhythmic breathing with and without an IFD; front symmetrical paddle 25 yards; back symmetrical paddle 25 yards; back alternating paddle 25 yards; side alternating paddle 25 yards; and kneeling dive.

Level 4: Fish In this class swimmers will learn to tread water for 3-minutes; swim 50 yards front crawl; swim 50 yards breaststroke with legal kick and arm pulls; swim 50 yards backstroke; swim 50 yards elementary backstroke with a glide; swim 50 yards sidestroke with a scissors kick; and swim 15 yards butterfly. Prerequisites: To enter this level, children should be able to do a standing dive; basic front crawl rotary breathing 25 yards; basic breaststroke 25 yards; backstroke 25 yards; elementary backstroke 25 yards; basic sidestroke 25 yards; and tread water 1 minute.

Prerequisites: To enter this level children should be able to tread water for 3-minutes; swim 50 yards front crawl; swim 50 yards breaststroke with legal kick and arm pulls; swim 50 yards backstroke; swim 50 yards elementary backstroke with a glide; swim 50 yards sidestroke with a scissors kick; and swim 15 yards butterfly.

Level 6: Shark In this class swimmers will learn to take their own heart rate; learn about open water and backyard pool safety; swim 100 yards front crawl with flip turns; swim 100 yards breaststroke with pull-out; swim 50 yards inverted breaststroke; swim 100 yards backstroke with dolphin kick and pull-out; swim 50 yards over arm side stroke; swim 25 yards butterfly with streamline: and swim 200 yards individual medley. Prerequisite: To enter this level, children should be able to do a flip turn; swim 100 yards front crawl with bilateral breathing; swim 100 yards breaststroke; swim 100 yards backstroke; swim 100 yards elementary backstroke; swim 100 yards sidestroke alternating sides; swim 100 yards lifesaving sidestroke; and swim 15 yards butterfly.

Teen & Adult 5 weeksArthritis Aquatics The Arthritis Foundation YMCA Aquatic Program (AFYAP) is a collaborative effort of two national organizations. This is a recreational exercise program with a wellness concept for people with arthritis to manage symptoms, maintain independence and enjoy life. This program is taught in a group setting with activities and exercises to encourage self care, provide social interaction, improve muscular strength, endurance, and flexibility.

DuPage Ducks Masters Swim Team The DuPage Ducks Masters Swim Team meets three times a week and works on increasing cardiovascular fitness, stroke development and speed work under the direction of a swim coach. Great for triathletes or just staying in shape! MEMBERS ONLY, AGE 18 OR OLDER.

Level 1: Beginner You are never too old to learn to swim! Beginner swim lessons for individuals ages 11 and older. This is an opportunity to learn a lifetime exercise.

Water in Motion Water in Motion is an aqua exercise workout that provides a low impact, high-energy challenge for participants of all ages, skill and fitness levels. Jump in and make a splash with this dynamic cardiovascular workout that tones and tapers the entire body. With land equivalent intensity, fantastic sing-along quality music and dynamic certified instructors, enjoy the pure fun of this water extravaganza.

Aquacise classes encourage people of all ages to utilize the buoyant qualities of the water to enhance their physical fitness through exercises. Exercise at your own level of skill, resistance, and comfort.

Deep Water Fitness High-Intensity class in the deep end of the pool using float belts and other resistance equipment. Great for cross training! Exercise at your own level of skill, resistance, and comfort.

Aquablast Come join an hour of fun in the water which includes stretching, high intensity, and some deep water aerobic activity. This class uses resistance equipment. Exercise at your own level of skill, resistance, and comfort.
