We Are Joyful Because of What Is Eternal

St. Paul teaches us that we should not be fright-ened or discouraged by afflictions and suffering that we go through here on earth. Even though our Christian faith is lived here, it has a greater purpose. Our recompense comes from above. Instead of getting frightened and discouraged, our faith in Jesus Christ gives us a new perspec-tive, just like a pregnant woman who endures the difficulties of pregnancy and the pain of birth, because she looks to what is unseen and that sur-passes the suffering.

Compared with eternity, our suffering is only momentary. In spite of what we see on the news and what we are going through in the communi-ty, in our family and personal life, if we look to God, he renews our sinner self day by day. As Christians we have an eternal fount that fills us with strength and hope. We are joyful, not be-cause of what is seen here on earth, but rather because we know that God has already con-quered death and sin; we are joyful because of what is unseen and what is eternal.

Estamos Alegres

Por lo Que Es Eterno San Pablo nos enseña que no debemos asustar-nos o desanimarnos por las aflicciones y el sufri-miento que atravesamos aquí en la tierra. Aun-que nuestra fe cristiana se vive aquí, tiene un propósito mayor. Nuestra recompensa viene de arriba. En lugar de asustarse y desanimarse, nuestra fe en Jesucristo nos da una nueva pers-pectiva, al igual que una mujer embarazada que soporta las dificultades del embarazo y el dolor del parto, porque mira lo que no se ve y supera el sufrimiento.

Comparado con la eternidad, nuestro sufrimien-to es solo momentáneo. A pesar de lo que vemos en las noticias y lo que estamos viviendo en la comunidad, en nuestra vida familiar y personal, si miramos a Dios, él renueva día a día a nuestro pecador. Como cristianos, tenemos una fuente eterna que nos llena de fuerza y esperanza. Es-tamos gozosos, no por lo que se ve aquí en la tie-rra, sino más bien porque sabemos que Dios ya ha conquistado la muerte y el pecado; estamos gozosos por lo que no se ve y lo que es eterno.
