Juhu, Goa, Pune and Kannur

In an interview given to a leading Infrastructure magazine ProjectsInfo, our Dy. CEO, MrAvadesh Singh said that Egis India would like toassist Uttrakhand Government in view of the current calamity to

prepare estimates of the damage caused and the approximate cost ofrepair and rehabilitation. Mr Singh was critical of the one sided NHAIcontract conditions & the exorbitant delays in payments which has ledus to avoid bidding for NHAI projects. He also expressed his concernsregarding NHAI's insistence on “least cost” bid format which would be adeterrent for quality consultants & lead to compromise in quality in thelong run.

In another feature published by Indian Infrastructure Mr. Singh spoke onthe Bengaluru Chennai expressway and the challenge involved in landacquisition ( to become more difficult once the land acquisition bill ispassed in parliament) He said that alignment had been achieved after

extensive meetings and consultations since three state governments ,Karnataka, Andra Pradesh &Tamil Nadu were involved. He saidfurther that the suggestion is to keep the tolling rate relatively higherthan national highways to reduce concession period , maintainoptimum traffic diversion and provide safer facilities.

Riyadh Metro Project was awarded to Egis through EBI to deliver MEP Designand QS works of a very complex Metro Station Riyadh in a very tight schedulecovering 3 stages concept, schematic and preliminary design, the mostexhaustive stage being preliminary design stage to be delivered within 3 weeksby 15th July. This would involve a min. of 199 drawings, 2000 page design notes(including calculations, specification and reports) and a requirement of 09engineers and 15 CAD persons. In contrast, ABE MEP available team strengthwas only 04 engineers and 04 CAD persons. The challenge- Immediately after the schematic design workshop at Riyadh, alist of deliverables was prepared and availability of CAD in COTE was explored. Not many in-house resources were available & freelance CAD persons would berequired from the market. The team worked with whatever resources wereavailable a person deputed from Hyderabad and couple of them pooled in from

structural team. few freelancers available during weekdays and few othersavailable only during weekends. Even after that, there was a shortfall of 5-6persons. This would mean additional effort from staff to meet deliverablescontinuously working for 7 days a week for next 3 weeks.Project tracking- Deepak Rai and Suresh Chawla took up this challenge andmotivated the entire team. The entire deliverable was broken down into a long list ofdrawings and the progress was tracked daily The project tracking sheet wasdisplayed on every persons' desk also. The team also rose to the situation andeveryone pooled in additional hours to make sure that the targets were met. In theend 199 drawings, 2000 page documents including a preliminary design report was prepared and delivered on time to the client within businesshours of 15th July.Quality- One of the biggest challenge was to deliver the project to the quality standards as prevalent in Gulf.AFour layer checking was introducedchecking of drawing by CAD person themselves, checking by CAD coordinator, then checking by respective engineer and finally by projectmanager (on same drawing with different pen colour for reducing page wastage). While the work was on, an internal quality Audit was organisedand as observed by the Quality Manager, Mr. Rajeev Gupta: “I would like to restate that your team is doing excellent job in all respect includingmanaging the task, document control, checking/ review etc.”Result- In the end, only 31 comments were received from client and the same were closed within 3 working days. Financial closure of the projectshall be achieved withinAugust'2013 with a healthy profit margin.Congratulations to entire ABE- MEP & QS team for successfully delivering this project.Congratulations to entire ABE- MEP & QS team for successfully delivering this project.

I am the part of EGIS India since Jan 2011 in A&BE department (Earlier known as Urban Architecture).Prior to Egis, I have worked with some prestigious organisation like Atkins (7 years in UAE) on differentprojects like Metro Stations, Buildings and Rail Signalling and 4 years for DMRC on underground metroproject.

Over the course of my 2 ½ years in Egis India , theA&BE department grew from just ten employees to a much larger team of over 50 employees. Byvirtue of being here since the beginning, I was fortunate enough to have learned new and valuable skills &gained very useful experience. Mycurrent responsibilities have prepared me in many ways to take on new and greater challenges. As I became increasingly proficient in my role, I wasentrusted with training to newer CAD staff and CAD Coordination work for many Projects.

What I enjoy most in Egis is that I am giving direct support to seniors and HOD of ABE in a way that really makes a difference. My ideal workingenvironment is one where there's a good team spirit and the best part in EGIS is that I enjoy working with people who are down to earth and at thesame time they have a dynamic and progressive approach to their work. I am proud to be a part of a highly committed and professional team.I'mvery pleased with the path my career has taken to date in EGIS. There's a lot I like about my current job. I want to move on with same spirit because Ialways look forward to greater challenge in my career.
