Robert’s three children Alwan, Caroline and Mireille who are second generation Hitti’s, joined the family business after completing their education in the 1980’s and 90’s. Following the ill-fated demise of Mr Robert Hitti in 2001, the children took control of the direction of the group and have moved it to even greater heights in West Africa and the World. In 2012, Mr Bob Hitti, son of Alwan Hitti, joined the Hitti Group introducing the third generation of the Hitti family in the business. Bob is the first of six grandchildren of Robert and Theresa Hitti to join the family business.

Mr.BobHitti (BH): You are welcome and thank you for the opportunity of introducing Nesstra to your readers

AG:Can you tell usmoreaboutyouractivitiesatNesstraServices,I’msoexcitedtolearnthat a Ghanaian Group hasacquiredaUKcompany?

BH: Yes indeed, Nesstra is a new affiliate of the Hitti Group. I want to take the opportunity to congratulate our board of directors, MrsTheresaHitti,MrAlwanHitti,MsMireille Hitti, Mr Fares Aki, MrsCarolineAkiandMrDanielTetteh for such a vision. In a bid to bring quality to our continental market and expand our brand name even further, the Hitti Group acquired in 2008 one of the leading and trusted suppliers of quality chemicals, materials and machinery to Africa, Nesstra Services.

Nesstra Services UK core business is the sale of raw material to the foam industry in Africa. The company operates in 27 African countries and is one of the largest suppliers of foam chemicals to Africa. Nesstra is also entering the supply of plastic raw material to the African continent and we expect to have similar success in the next few years. We are also active in the basic chemical market range and set up a new team to concentrate on this aspect of the business. We also have a strong technical department responsible for providing large scale electrical projects and machinery for the food and juice industry through our Alfa Laval brand.

Mr Bob Hitti is the young and energetic General Manager of Nesstra Ghana. He comes from 3 generations of Hitti businessmen and women. He holds

a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management from Brunel University as well as a Masters in International Business with specialization in Operations Management from the Grande Ecole IESEG in Lille, France (one of the top 5 French Business Schools). He has been with Nesstra

Ghana since June 2012 and brings on board a refreshing disposition that sees things accomplished as a team.

AG: You have so manyinternational brands in your showroom can you tell us aboutthem?

BH: At Nesstra, We operate a one-stop shop concept in our showroom; offering our customers a wide variety of products in one location. A customer who walks into our showroom can purchase his electrical needs from our ABB range, as well as all paint requirements from our Suvinil range. All installation works that require power tools are also available from our HILTI products range. Power is also a necessity nowadays and we offer Perkins Generators. The showroom is also connected to ASHFOAM’s showroom allowing our customers to purchase their mattresses, bed sheets, bedspreads, pillows, towels and furniture among other products in the ASHFOAM Shop. Additionally, you can find our McQuay air conditioners as well as Duraplast’s PVC and HDPE pipes. What more can you ask for in a shopping experience, all your needs under one roof.

AG:HowwellareyoupositionedontheGhanaianmarketwithallthesebigbrands?

BH:We are currently experiencing a period of growth that is the result of a well thought out strategy. Our growth at the moment is 70% on a year-to-date basis and we expect further growth in the coming years. The majority of our brands are very well known to the market, with the latest brand additions to the portfolio experiencing solid growth that will lead to an increased market share in the next couple of years.

AG: Your brands are all globalleaders,howdoyouincorporatebrandsinyourproductportfolio?

BH: It is important to mention that adding brands to our portfolio is not just to look good. Every brand added is carefully studied; we have in place a strong team which operates independently and grows the expectation of all stakeholders. Every year we are approached by leading brands to represent them in Ghana and Africa. As I speak, we are in advanced discussion with two leading labels that are likely to be introduced as part of Nesstra’s portfolio in the third and fourth quarters of this year.

AG: How does your strongbrand presence play on marketcompetitiveness?

BH: All our brands stand aside when it comes to quality. We only deal with the best brands and this policy is strictly respected. With this policy comes a clear advantage to our customers as they have the assurance of the best quality and a customized service. Another competitive advantage we have is that we offer our customers, a one-stop solution centre for all their construction needs. The construction industry relies on a wide network of suppliers for various products; this can be a challenge as sourcing will require a lot of time and know how. Nesstra solves this problem by providing a wide variety of product in its range allowing companies to source products for their construction project with one supplier who offers the best quality products, flexible payment terms and a reliable support team.

AG:WhatdoesNesstraaspiretoandwhatareyourcorevalues?

BH:Nesstra aspires to be a leading provider of services and product to the African market, adding value in the supply chain to our customers and partners. We have a mix of highly experienced young and dedicated people with a passion for what they do and without such a committed team, we wouldn’t be where we are today. For example, we have combined experience in the Suvinil department of over 100 years in the paint industry, ABB

team has over 52 years of combined experience and Hilti has over 33 years of combined experience. Such highly experienced members bring a lot

to the company; consequently the future is bright because our more experienced members mentor our new and younger members to build an even stronger team for the future.

AG: You are young, ambitiouswith a dynamic team, whatwould you say the future holdsforNesstra?

BH: Sustainable growth is key to Nesstra’s vision of the future. This was developed over the years where directors, managers and employees were encouraged to incorporate continuous improvement and growth to their agenda. As part of the group’s culture, we will continue our growth at the current high pace every year. In the HITTI Group, we believe in the development of our teams and therefore support them in their development, be it social or academic. Many of our staff are supported with health insurance and the wards of some of them have qualified for educational scholarships up to university level.

Directions:• Rinse and pat the meat dry. Place in a sealable plastic bag or small glass dish. In a medium bowl combine 1 tablespoon of the lime juice, soy sauce, canola oil, brown sugar, garlic, ginger and red curry paste. Pour half the mixture into the bag with the meat

• Add the remaining 2 tablespoons lime juice to the bag. Seal tightly, and marinate meat in refrigerator at least 4 hours or overnight, turning occasionally. Reserve the rest of the mixture refrigerated, to dress the salad.

• Spray grill or grill pan with cooking spray and preheat. Grill steak until medium-rare, about 5 minutes per side, depending on desired doneness. Let rest until room temperature then slice thinly against the grain.

• Combine lettuce, sliced shallot, cilantro, basil and beef in a salad bowl, reserving a few shallots for garnish. Add the reserved dressing and toss to coat. Divide salad among 4 plates and garnish with reserved sliced shallots.
