Little Hoppers Rabbit Show

1. Open to youth 4 years of age and up through 2nd grade. 2. Show will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday in Rabbit barn. 3. Rabbit must meet minimum breed weight. 4. Youth can show a rabbit that is being shown in Junior

and/or Open Class or bring a rabbit from home. 5. Rabbits from home will be brought in that morning,

checked for diseases, and taken home that afternoon after the show.

4-H Horse Camp Held submitted by Brooke Magnus

4-H Horse Camp was held on June 8-9. On Friday participants met at the Clark County fairgrounds to practice trail obstacles and socialize. It was a great way to get to know new horse project members and their horses/ponies in a relaxed casual atmosphere! On Saturday horse camp was held at M&M Stables in Green-wood. We had four clinicians: Sherrie Nichols taught general riding lessons, Maria Bendixen taught an introduction to ranch riding, Ashleigh Sternitzky provided showmanship guidance and gave a clipping demonstration, and Megan Fellenz taught horse health and safety. Participants enjoyed donuts for breakfast and a pot luck lunch. This year we had 23 participants compared to 18 last year! The weekend was a success! Thank you to the 4-H Leaders Federation for their sponsor-ship of Horse Camp so youth can be prepared for a safe experience showing at the Clark County Fair.

Adult and Youth Leaders Mark Your Calendars for Fall Forum and Hall of Fame Celebration

When: November 2—4, 2018 (starting with registration at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, November 2 and ending 11:00 a.m. on November 4)

Where: Green Lake Conference Center, Green Lake

Who: Each county is encouraged to send a delegation of youth and adults • 7th – 13th grade youth (all youth participants must have a chaperone who has completed VIP training) • Adult volunteer leaders • Staff are invited and encouraged to attend as your schedule permits

Registration Fee (includes meals, breaks, facility fees, and supplies): • $85.00 registration fee per person (Friday – Sunday) • $75.00 registration fee per person (Saturday – Sunday) • $70.00 registration fee (Saturday lunch and dinner) • $50.00 registration fee (Saturday – lunch only)

Lodging (adults): • $25.00 / night with three or more adults per room • $50.00 / night if there are two adults • $80.00 / night for a single adult room (limited availability)

Lodging (youth) • $25.00 / night with 3—6 youth per room

Note: room cost increases if there is more than 1 person. This is why the room rates aren’t half of the single rate

The program kicks off Friday evening with over 15 interactive sessions. Saturday offers more than 20 workshops to choose from. Top off the night with a special celebration where up to 10 people will be inducted into the Wisconsin 4-H Hall of Fame. An evening of circle dancing and table games will follow the celebration. Plus an ice cream hospitality sponsored by Cedar Crest Ice Cream. Sunday morning brings a high energy program that you can use at the club or community level. Clark County 4-H Leaders Federation Minutes June 11, 2018

Present: Amy Gerhardt, Jennie Whitmire, Rachel Stiemann, Joan Buchholz, Kathy Meyers, John Brost, Jazlyn Revier, Bridget Canfield, Kyle Johnson, Sam Jacque, Susan Stiemann, and Chris Hollar Absent: Katrina Gosse and Sara Fisher Visitors: Wendell Attoe, Melvin Abel, and Nicolas Stiemann Amy Gerhardt called the meeting to order at 7:01 p.m. Pledges to the American and 4-H flags were said. Secretary’s Report: The secretary’s minutes for the May 14, 2018 meeting was reviewed. John Brost moved to approve. Seconded by Kyle Johnson and carried. Financial Report: Joan Buchholz reviewed the financial report. The ending balance as of 6-10-18 was $66028.74, which includes $11054.14 of self-supporting project balances. John Brost moved to approve the financial report. Motion seconded by Kyle Johnson and carried. Wendell Attoe and Melvin Abel presented a request for $2000 to sponsor the Clark County Fair Kids Rodeo. Jennie Whitmire moved to sponsor the rodeo up to $3000. Seconded by Jazlyn Revier and carried. Old Business: Discussion was held regarding a date for Fall Fun Day. October 13 and 20 has been suggested. A definite date will be given at the all leaders’ meeting in July. Attendees will vote on activity at that meeting. Chris Hollar shared that volunteers are needed to work at the Area Animal Science Days on June 22. Registration begins at 8:00 a.m. Volunteer walk-ins welcome that day. Volunteers are also needed to move shavings on June 21 in the afternoon. New Business: Chris Hollar stated that the $2500 Monsanto Fund monies donated to the Clark County 4-H program will be used to purchase six kayaks for camp. Only three exhibits have been entered for the Clothing Revue. The event may be cancelled. Also, only four groups have sent in registration information for the Softball Tournament to date. We will be having a dunk tank at the fair in conjunction with the Kids Rodeo. Suggestions for “dunkees” were noted. Our next meeting will be held on July 9, 6:30 p.m., Loyal City Hall (All Leaders’ Meeting). Kyle Johnson moved to adjourn the meeting. Bridget Canfield seconded the motion. or Open Class (animal must be a Heifer Calf—Spring) or you can bring a calf from home.

5. Calves from home will be brought in that morning and taken home that afternoon.

6. Calf must be led with properly fitted halter. 7. Calf and child must be residents of Clark County. 8. Youth will need a DAIRY ID form

SAW COW CONTEST 2018 Sponsored by Clark County Dairy Promotion Committee

“Say Cheese Please” The Clark County Dairy Promotion Committee is sponsoring the “Saw Cow” design contest for all 4-H and FFA clubs/chapters. Use your creativity to convert a sawhorse into a “Saw Cow.” To make your saw caw look like a Wisconsin Dairy cow it will need:

⇒Head ⇒Body ⇒Udder ⇒Tail ⇒Must stand on all 4 “legs”

All “Saw Cows” (one per 4-H club / FFA chapter) must pre-register (below) and arrive at the fairgrounds Fine Arts Building by WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 8 / 4:00 p.m. Once judged the “cows” will be placed around the livestock / 4-H exhibitor buildings for the public to enjoy. Saw Cows will be released on Sunday at 4:00 p.m. Saw Cows need to be weatherproof as they will be displayed outside. Each club entering a “Saw Cow” will receive a $25.00 just for entering. The winning “Saw Cow” entry will receive $50.00; and the runner up “Saw Cow” will receive $35.00.
