Joan Buchholz explained the budget proposal for July 1, 2018 to June 30, 2019. Susan Stiemann moved to approve the budget as proposed. Motion seconded by Sam Jacques and carried.

Kyle Johnson moved that the Leaders Federation cover $22 per team for the Bowling Tournament in January. Motion seconded by Bryana Meyers and carried.

A discussion regarding reducing the price of the remaining 2016 plat books was held. Decision tabled until December meeting. Chris Hollar to gather information on the number of books remaining to be sold, as well as the cost of production per book.

Chris Hollar noted that there was a $50 custodial fee for the Awards Banquet. Approximately 215 people attended that event. Old Business:

Reports were given on the Schuster’s Farm outing and the Fall Forum. Both events reported as positive experiences for those who attended.

Chris Hollar has interviewed eight 4-H youth for summer excursion trips. The in-state trip will be headed up by Amy Gerhardt this year. A planning meeting has been set for December 6, 6:00 p.m. at ADS in Greenwood. Participating in this trip does not require the application and interview process. Anyone interested, ages 10-12, are invited to attend the planning meeting.

Bryana Meyers moved that the Leaders Federation reserve Bruce Mound on February 9, 2019, for four hours at the cost of $2500. This cost will be split with Trempealeau County. Sam Jacques seconded the motion. Motion carried.

A discussion regarding the Herdsmanship Contest at the fair was held. Jennie Whitmire will work with Chris Hollar to oversee this contest. It was suggested that signs be created to post at the fair recognizing the previous year’s winners.

It was decided to eliminate the restrictions on the number of nominations that clubs can make for the following awards: Cloverbud Achievement, Younger Youth Achievement, Intermediate Youth Achievement, Youth Achievement, Youth Citizenship, and Youth Leadership.

The Awards Banquet was discussed. The sound system, catering, and Saturday scheduling were positive aspects. It was noted that the banquet was long. Suggestions to shorten included having four serving lines and allowing trip presenters to eat first so that they could be presenting while people were finishing eating.

New Business:

Possible fundraising efforts for the new buildings at the fair grounds were discussed including a basket raffle or a 50/50 raffle at the volleyball tournament, encouraging clubs to fund raise, and donation from the Leaders Federation. Tabled until December meeting with plans to announce decision at the January all leaders meeting.

The Leaders Federation Executive Board Retreat is scheduled for Saturday, January 12, at Sunset Pines from 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. This will be followed by the 4-H Older Youth Chillax evening.

Chris made available to board members the Fundraising/Donations draft and the Public Notice of Nondiscrimination policies FAQ ’s from the UW-Extension.

Discussion was held on disciplinary action for those clubs who are not attending the quarterly all leader ’s meetings. Committee Reports:

Chris Hollar noted that the dairy committee will be meeting with the fair board on November 19 to discuss the Open Dairy Show at the fair.

Joan Buchholz noted that our interstate exchange trip will be with Massachusetts. They will be coming to Wisconsin in 2019. Financial Request: Katrina Gosse, Kyle Johnson, and Bryana Meyers requested that the Leaders Federation assist with the cost for transportation incurred during the interstate exchange trip this past summer. The group took a bus to Green Bay, Wisconsin Dells, and to the airport in Minneapolis two times. Nicolas Stiemann moved that the Leaders Federation cover the transportation cost of approximately $2000. Motion was seconded by Jennie Whitmire and carried. Bridget Canfield moved to adjourn the meeting. The motion was seconded by Kyle Johnson and carried. Meeting adjourned at 9:01 p.m. The next board meeting will be held on December 10, 2018, 7:00 p.m., ADS – Greenwood. Respectfully submitted by Susan Stiemann, Secretary
