Wednesday saw the Welsh Premier League begin its

new branding project with Designroom Sport at

Newtown AFC’s Latham Park.

The WPL gained UEFA Hat-trick funding to conduct a

marketing toolkit project, which is in line with a number

of other branding projects for the league clubs ready to

implement in time for next season.

This new Digital Toolkit will enable clubs to create

consistent branded templates for posters, programme

covers & web banners, thus promoting their clubs more

effectively within their local community, commercial

partners and across the league's nationwide network.

Designroom Sport create solutions that enable clients to

distinguish their brands and make a powerful connection

with their partners, sponsors and audience. Whether

clients have an established brand or are at the very

beginning of creating something new Designroom Sport

focus on giving them the perfect presence in the

marketplace and providing them with a platform to

generate robust commercial opportunities. The principal

members of their team have worked on some of the

biggest and best known brands in sport including the FA

Cup, The Springboks, Ferrari, The Ashes Series and the

UEFA Champions League.

For examples of Designroom Sport's work go to their

site at www.designroomsport.com

Wednesday’s activity saw three players from each of the

WPL clubs meet in Newtown for photographers to

conduct the initial stages of piecing together the Digital

Toolkit. The sports photographers took various shots of

all the players ready to capture the next staged designs

of the toolkit. Players arrived through the course of the

day at Latham Park and were fantastic in providing

exactly what the photographers and the WPL wished of

them.

CLUB NEWS

ABERYSTWYTH TOWN www.atfc.org.uk !

AFAN LIDO FC www.pitchero.com/clubs afanlidofootball lub No news.

AIRBUS UK BROUGHTON www.airbusfc.com AIRBUS UK Broughton have brokered a

major new shirt sponsorship deal with

Gardner Aerospace, one of Europe’s largest

suppliers of aerospace detailed parts, sub-

assemblies and total manufacturing services.

The arrangement will bring substantial

additional income to the Wingmakers, who

will wear the Gardner logo on the front of

both their home and away shirts.

"I am delighted we have concluded a deal

with Gardner Aerospace for them to replace Airbus UK as shirt sponsors," says Airbus UK commercial

manager Chris Doran.

"What is fantastic with this deal is not only do we get significant investment, but we also bring in as a

director of the club Gary Slinger, who has extensive knowledge from his time as a director at Accrington

Stanley."

"It would also be remiss of me not to thank Airbus for allowing the opportunity to resell this much-

coveted sponsorship package.

"It is massively important that we continue to grow the commercial side of the club in order to remain

competitive at the top of the Welsh Premier League."

Airbus wore their new home shirt for the first time on in the 1-1 draw with league leaders The New

Saints.

Gardner has five aerospace-approved manufacturing operations in the UK, including one in Broughton

adjacent to the Airbus plant and the Hollingsworth Group Stadium, and has annual revenues in excess of

£105 million.

AIRBUS UK Broughton FC has launched a new-look website to cater for the increasing trend towards

the use of tablets and smartphones.

As many as 50% of visitors to the site now use smaller-screen devices and the new design is optimised

to be responsive for display on everything from desktops and laptops to tablets and mobiles.

The site front page features the latest news and match reports from the Hollingsworth Group Stadium,

updated on a daily basis, as well as a mini league table and the Wingmakers' leading scorers.

News feeds display the latest club and Welsh Premier headline and there is a Google map to help

visiting supporters find the stadium.

The site also has full match and player statistical information including all appearances and goal scorers

since the club was promoted to the top flight in 2004.

There are profiles and photographs of all management and the first team squad and detailed match data

for every game with reports and photographs.

The site, at www.airbusfc.com, also has a link to the club's online Macron shop where supporters can

purchase replica shirts and other club merchandise using debit or credit cards.

"Our research shows that more than half of our visitors are now accessing the site using smaller screen

devices and it was important to ensure that we have a site design and structure which creates a seamless

transition from web to tablet to mobile," says club marketing and communications director Andrew

Lincoln.

“If you are designing a website and not thinking about the user experience on mobile and tablets, you are

going to disappoint a lot of users."

BANGOR CITY www.bangorcity.co.uk

City are pleased to announce the loan signing of goalkeeper Dave Roberts from

Prestatyn Town.

Dave comes to City as first-choice keeper Jack Cudworth was injured on his debut

against Airbus last Tuesday night.

Dave is a vastly experienced gloveman who gained two FA Youth Cup winners medals

with Liverpool. On being released by Liverpool he went on to join non-league

Weymouth. He later entered Welsh football and has seen WPL service with Bangor

(briefly), Aberystwyth, Newtown and Prestatyn.

We would like to thank Neil Gibson and Prestatyn officials for their assistance in this

matter.

gap CONNAH’S QUAY www.the-nomads.co.uk Deeside Stadium to host Wales vs Poland

The Nomads are pleased to announce that Deeside Stadium will host a Friendly International match this March.

Thursday March 20th will see The Nomads' home pitch play host to Wales vs Poland in an U15 Boys Friendly

International.

The match will kick off at 7:30pm with admission being charged at £3 for adults and free entry for all U16's. We

can also confirm that local street dance crews have been recruited to perform ahead of the game and at half time.

We look forward to welcoming both teams, and hopefully a large crowd to see some of the potential future stars

of Welsh and world football.

NEWTOWN AFC www.newtownafc.co.uk CAPTAIN Matt Cook has called for the Robins to get back to basics.

Cook was speaking on Wednesday, after last weekend’s exit from the Welsh Cup against Holywell Town.

The defeat was Newtown's third defeat in the last four games, and the skipper has said the side need to recapture

their consistency.

He said: "The main focus is to get back to basics and produce the sort of consistent form we showed in December.

"We have proven that we are good players who are capable of beating anyone in the Welsh Premier this season.

"The games will come thick and fast now and I think that will only help us recapture our best form."

The Robins found themselves 3-0 down at Halkyn Road on Saturday, but goals from Tom Goodwin and Matt

Hearsey got them back in the game to set up a nervy finish.

But Cook believes they are giving themselves to much to do in games at the moment.

He said: "We made too many individual errors, myself included, and at the moment it is costing us goals.

Page 9: WPT14 - 36

"We seem to need to go behind before we get into gear and at times leave ourselves too much to do as it proved

Saturday. But credit goes to Holywell as they took their chances and held us off in the second half."

The Robins were missing six players last weekend, including defenders Shane Sutton, Max Penk and James

Bloom.

However Cook said despite the absences they should be winning those sorts of games.

He said: "I think the missing players affects us to be honest. "We were missing effectively two central defenders

who have been consistently playing well this season.

"However as a squad we should be good enough to win that sort of game whoever is selected."

Following the defeat the Robins don't play again until next Tuesday when they travel to Nantporth to face Bangor

City. And Cook believes it would have been nice to have put things right immediately after Saturday.

He said: "We are not going to dwell on previous performances or what could have been and will prepare for the

next game against Bangor.

"It would of been nice to have a game straight away to right the wrongs but that's not to be. Bangor is always a

great game to play in though and I am sure the lads will be ready to go come next Tuesday."

The Bangor game marks the start of the second phase of the season, and Cook has stated that the players and staff

won't let the season peter out.

He said: "We definitely won't let the season peter out. We all go into every game wanting to win and that will not

change in the second half of the season.

"The management team won't let that happen and the competition for places means that performances matter."!

PORT TALBOT TOWN www.porttalbottown.co.uk Port Talbot Town have added to their club staff with the arrival of Sebastian

Santamaria Rodriquez.

Sebastian is a commercial lawyer, who will review the club’s employment

contracts and look at its general governance as well as carrying out other

duties.

He is from Chile, is studying a for a masters degree in law at Cardiff

University and has been taken on as part of an internship programme.

“We are delighted to welcome Sebastian to the club,” said Port Talbot chief

executive Andrew Edwards.

“I’m delighted to have someone of Sebastian’s calibre on board.

“Sebastian is keen to see the difference in cultures between South American

football and football in Wales, in particular The Welsh Premier League.

“I’d like to thank the WCVA and Steve Lloyd of the WPL for assisting in

Sebastian’s placement.”

Sebastian said: “I’m pleased to be offered the chance to work at the club and

I’m looking forward to learning more about how the game is run in Wales.”

PORT Talbot’s home game against Prestatyn has been brought forward a day

and will now be screened live on S4C. The North Wales side will visit on Saturday, March 22, with kick-off at

3.45pm.

That is the Steelmen’s next match at the GenQuip Stadium and comes after Scott Young’s side return to action

with a derby away to Afan Lido on Friday, March 14 (7.30).

THE LAST WORD from Gwyn Derfel The power of social media is increasing daily and it is great to see the vast majority of our

Corbett Sports WPL clubs recognising the crucial role that sites such as Facebook, Twitter and

Audioboo can play in promoting themselves positively.

As we all know however, unless these platforms are used responsibly – they can cause problems

– and our League is not immune from these occasional headaches.

The FAW does offer all clubs guidance regarding the use of social media through the ‘Off the

Pitch’ initiative as education and prevention are far more preferable than prosecution and

sanction.

Education when it comes to gambling is another issue high on our agenda.

At present – no players, officers or members of the coaching staff are allowed to gamble on

ANY FOOTBALL.

As we always try to do at the FAW – we are currently considering whether this Rule is fair and

fit for purpose. Whatever the outcome of this internal review – one thing is definite. Any player,

officer or member of the coaching staff at any of our clubs caught gambling on any of our

League matches will be severely dealt with.

It is well documented that the whole credibility of certain other national leagues has been

completely undermined by gambling. We cannot allow this to happen with our beloved WPL.

The standard of our League is improving every year and I honestly believe that certain worn

prejudices which have hampered our development are starting to fade away.

I urge everyone associated with our clubs to work with us to ensure that our National League

continues to be a competition of complete integrity.

Y GAIR OLAF gan Gwyn Derfel ‘Does dim modd osgoi grym Twitter, Facebook, Audioboo a chyfryngau newydd eraill sydd yn

ymddangos bron yn ddyddiol erbyn hyn.

Braf o beth yw gweld ein clybiau yn defnyddio’r dulliau newydd yma o gyfathrebu yn

gadarnhaol ar y cyfan er mwyn hyrwyddo eu hunain a’r Cynghrair.

Wrth gwrs bod enghreifftiau yn ymwneud gyda’n Huwch Gynghrair ni o bobl yn trydar

sylwadau annerbyniol ar Twitter. Mae CBDC yn ymarferol yn ceisio addysgu’n clybiau o’r

ymddygiad disgwyliedig. Mae addysgu’n llawer gwell na chosbi wrth gwrs ac yn fodd o osgoi

niwed y gall ambell sylw negyddol ei wneud i ddelwedd Uwch Gynghrair Cymru - Corbett

Sports.

Mae addysgu ein clybiau am gamblo yn uchel ar agenda’r Gymdeithas hefyd.

Ar hyn o bryd nid oes gan unrhyw chwaraewr, swyddog na hyfforddwr yr hawl i fetio ar

UNRHYW BĒL-DROED.

‘Rydym ar hyn o bryd yn asesu os yw’r Rheol hon yn deg, ymarferol a pherthnasol – ond mae

un peth yn sicr. Os cawn wybod am unrhyw chwaraewr, hyfforddwr neu swyddog yn gamblo ar

unrhyw gêm yn ein Cynghrair ni – yna bydd y gosb yn llym a di-drugaredd.

Mae ‘na gynghreiriau cenedlaethol eraill sydd wedi colli pob hygrededd gan bod gamblo o’r

math yma wedi eu tanseilio’n llwyr. Ni allwn adael i hyn ddigwydd i’n Huwch Gynghrair ni.

Mae safon UGC-Corbett Sports yn gwella’n flynyddol ac ‘rwy’n credu’n gryf bod agweddau

blinedig rhai pobl ‘bwerus’ sydd wedi arafu ein datblygiad yn dechrau newid.

‘Rwy’n erfyn ar bawb felly – yn enwedig ein clybiau – i gydweithio efo’r Gymdeithas er mwyn

sicrhau bod ein Cynghrair Cenedlaethol yn parhau i fod yn gystadleuaeth sydd ậ hygrededd yn

gwbl greiddiol i’w datblygiad.
