Saturday April 12th has been earmarked as a

    remembrance day for the Hillsborough

    disaster.

On Thursday last the Welsh Premier Leaguedecided that as a mark of solidarity and

respect all Corbett Sports WPL matches

should start at the same time3.07pm.

They will mark the 25th anniversary of the

Hillsborough disaster by delaying the kick-

off of our home match with Port Talbot

    Town at 3:07pm.

Many games across England and Wales will

observe a six minute delay to mark the early

end of the FA Cup Semi Final on 15 April1989 between Liverpool and Nottingham

Forest where 96 fans lost their lives.

Following the six minute delay, a minutes

silence will also be observed to pay tribute

to those who lost their lives on the tragic

    day.

The League wishes to thank the clubs in

    advance for their co-operation.

    Runners-up deserve

silverwareDirector of football Andy Preece says his players deserve amedal for finishing runners-up in the Welsh Premier League. And he is to contact the FAW to ask about rewarding the teamthat clinches second place with some silverware."People forget about what we've done, which is frustrating,"Preece told the Leader."You finish runners-up in the league and you get norecognition for it. The lads didn't even get any runners-upmedals last year and I will speak to the league about it. If youfinish runners-up in your league, surely you deserve somememento for it, but hopefully that will change this year."

Goals from Ryan Wade and Chris Budrys ensured that Airbuswill represent Wales in Europe for the second season runningafter moving on to a club record 57 points. But, while Preece has labelled his team's season as"ridiculous", he has vowed to carry on the fight to push TNS

all the way for the title."We've made progress, how can we be so many points clear of

third? It's ridiculous", he added."I just can't believe how well we've done, we've only lost threegames all season. It's amazing what we've done, I thought wewere brilliant last season in what we achieved and I don't thinkwe got recognised for that."

"Maybe we will get recognised this year. We've managed anew points record for the club, we are still in the title hunt and

to be so close to TNS at this stage is unbelievable. We aremaking it interesting because I do think TNS will drop points,we've got to keep going and keep pushing them again."On the title race, which sees Airbus three points behind TNS,who have a game in hand, Preece says: "It is amazing how

well the lads have done and if we can finish off the season bywinning all our games, and we don't win the league, thencredit to TNS because they will deserve to win it."

AIRBUS UK BROUGHTON www.airbusfc.comFAR from being downhearted after Tuesday night's home defeat at the hands of Flintshire rivals gap

Connah's Quay, Airbus director of football Andy Preece was decidedly upbeat.

The defeat saw the Wingmakers' hopes of pipping The New Saints for the title all but vanish, but Preece

said: "We are not disappointed at all. I think TNS have got to be disappointed that the league's not

    wrapped up by now.

"There's no disappointment, we are full of smiles, the lads are buzzing, and we're just getting ready to go

    for another trip in Europe."

"Again it was a good performance, how we've not won I don't know. Well I do know why we've dropped

a lot of our points this season but I dare not say anything because I'll just get myself into trouble," Preecewent on. Like I say, any points we've dropped we know what the reason is, nothing to do with our lads

and the way we've gone about it.

"You can only affect what you can affect and there are things outside that we can't affect that have cost

us time and time again. We've dealt with it, it's amazing the discipline that the players and management

have got with all the things that we put up with but we've been brilliant this season, we've been

    absolutely fantastic.

"To be in the position that we are you couldn't dream about it and we enjoy the challenge, bring it on.

People try and make it as difficult as they can for us but we're still in that second position, we've won

our league again two seasons in a row, it's just a fantastic achievement."

"We're just enjoying the season now, that's the thing, we can just go out and enjoy our football and that's

what we're going to do."We've earned the right to do that and we'll go and play with that freedom now, the lads have been

fantastic and we can look forward to going into Europe."

NEWTOWN AFC www.newtownafc.co.ukHE IS a player who is in his third season at Latham Park and has had to endure two relegation battles. Howevernow Luke Boundford has helped secure his side a top six position. And the former Newbridge man is enjoying Newtown's 'new lease of life' in the top six. He said:

"This is my third season and the last two have been struggling with relegation battles. It's been hard so it's reallynice not to worry about relegation but now we need to push on and try and secure third place."Boundford is the current Robins top scorer and he believes his conversion to a wide man this season has aided hisgoal tally. He said: "Well I started up front this season but that wasn't quite working for me so I got moved onto the rightside which has helped me. It's always pleasing to score goals but the main thing his to help the lads and get theside up the table."

Newtown went on a great run before Christmas top get themselves where they are now. However since the turn ofthe year fortunes have been different with only one win so far. And Boundford believes despite taking their foot ofthe gas slightly, the side still have their focus. He said: "I think we did take our foot off the gas against Prestatyn and then we had a break of games because ofthe weather. "But games in the top half are going to be tough, but we played TNS who are a decent side and I

think we definitely deserved a draw. We missed some good chances myself included which you need to bescoring against sides like TNS. It's going to be tough but we have a brilliant squad now and we're training hard so

we just have to apply ourselves properly on match-days and I can't see why we can't win the play-offs."

PRESTATYN TOWN www.ptfconline.co.ukTown Director of Football Neil Gibson was very pleased to pick up a point at the end of the game, keeping theirrhopes of staying in the league alive

I thought it was a difficult game to read because with the sendings-off it disrupted the pattern of the game. I sawlots of positives out of the game today and young Rob Hughes was excellent again today. We showed a great team spirit to keep us going to the end and that point will go a long way to giving us theconfidence to stay in the league.

Referee: David Morgan Played at the GenQuip Stadium, Port TalbotCardiff Met became the first ever winners of the Welsh Premier Womens League Cup on Sunday as they beatLlanidloes Ladies at the GenQuip Stadium, Port Talbot.

The Students remain undefeated so far this season and started the match confidently in the Port Talbot sunshine. However the best chance of the first 20 minutes fell to Kate Thomas of Llanidloes but Yzzy Taylor smartly

blocked her effort from 6 yards.

Emily Browns 20 yard effort after half an hour whistled past Rebecca Gunsons left hand post and it remainedgoal-less until the break.Nine minutes into the second period Jemma Lloyds rasping effort was well saved by Taylor in the Met goal and

the keeper had to be very alert to three headers within a three minute period on

the hour mark as Jenny Broughall and two efforts from Kate Thomas wentclose.Llanidloes were left rueing their missed opportunities as Ellie Sargent scored atruly memorable individual goal with 20 minutes remaining. She beat threedefenders at pace before accurately placing her shot past Gunson a goal

worthy of winning any cup final.Emily Brown came close to doubling the advantage with 5 minutes remaining

but she blazed her shot over the bar.

A historic victory for Cardiff Met and but an afternoon of cursing missedopportunities for Llanidloes. The winning captain had the pleasure of lifting a specially commissioned trophydesigned by renowned artist Ann Catrin Evans. She said:

I have enjoyed working on the project and am pleased that my work as aWelsh artist is being offered as a trophy in a prestigious national competition. Iwish both teams the best of luck on Sunday.

THE LAST WORD from Gwyn DerfelThere has been a lot of talk recently about the format of the Corbett Sports Welsh Premier League and

how some people dont believe that the split or the number of teams is working.

I fully appreciate that I dont have to generate the funds to run a football club but I came into this job

two years ago partly because I believed in the format and am still confident that this is the most excitingand practical option we have available to us.

It is obviously very sad that Afan Lidos relegation has been confirmed but we must have movement

between our National League and both feeder leagues to freshen things up and I genuinely hope that we

will welcome teams from the Welsh League and the Huws Gray next season.

At present the FAW is working closely with a world renowned company regarding the monitoring of

WPL matches. Betting and match fixing have been proven in other European leagues which has led to a

loss of TV and sponsorship deals and ultimately credibility. We cannot allow this to happen to our

National League. If you are aware of any players or officials who are betting on WPL matches please

contact me so that we can head any potential issues off at the pass.

I would like to finish on a more positive note today by congratulating Cardiff Met Ladies on winning the

first ever Welsh Premier Womens League Cup Final at Port Talbot on Sunday. Llanidloes were unlucky

to lose on the day but Ellie Sargents 70 thminute winner was truly memorable. Highlights of match will

be on FAW TV by Tuesdaywell worth a look.

Y GAIR OLAF gan Gwyn DerfelMae tipyn o drafod wedi bod am fformat y Deuddeg Disglair yn ddiweddar gyda rhai yn dechrau amau

trefn ein Cynghrair.Rwyn derbyn yn llwyr nad wyf yn gorfod dod o hyd ir prs i redeg clwb ond roedd trefn ein tymor yn

un or ffactorau oedd yn apelion fawr ataf pan ymgeisiais am y swydd ddwy flynedd yn l.

Rwyn derbyn nad ywr fformat yn berffaith ond rwyf hefyd dal i gredu mai dymar ffordd orau i

greu cynnwrf i bob tm tan y diwedd un ac mai dymar ffordd mwyaf ymarferol i godi safon y chwarae.

Maen drist wrth gwrs bod clwb Lido Afan yn mynd i ddisgyn ddiwedd y tymor ond maen hanfodol

bod clybiau newydd yn cael eu dyrchafu fel bo gwaed newydd yn dod i mewn i UGC-Corbett Sports yn

    flynyddol.

Rwyf wedi sn or blaen am fygythiad gamblo a threfnu gemau i hygrededd ein Cynghrair. Nid ydym

yn ymwybodol o unrhyw broblemau penodol ar hyn o bryd ond mae CBDC yn cydweithio gydachwmni sydd ar flaen y gad yn y maes yma er mwyn addysgu pobl or peryglon posib allai ein wynebu.

Mae ambell Gynghrair arall wedi cael eu brathun galed gan drefnu gemau sydd wedi arwain at golli

cytundebau teledu, nawdd, cefnogaeth a hygrededd. Allwn ni ddim gadael i hyn ddigwydd i ni. Os

ydych yn ymwybodol o unrhyw weithgaredd or math yma cysylltwch gyda min syth os gwelwch yn

    dda.

Hoffwn orffen heddiw ar nodyn mwy cadarnhaol drwy longyfarch Met Caerdydd am ennill Rownd

Derfynol gyntaf erioed Cwpan Uwch Gynghrair Merched Cymru. Gall merched Llanidloes fod yn hynod

falch ou perfformiad ond roedd gl Ellie Sargent yn llawn haeddu ennill unrhyw ffeinal. Bydd

uchafbwyntiau or gm ar FAW TV ddydd Mawrth. Gwyliwch a mwynhewch.
