An award winning architect designed house in a spectacular setting overlooking the River Dart

“such altitude and charm are rarely to be encountered - they are sufficient to restrain a player from tearing up his card so that he may remain a spectator of all this beauty.” (taken from the Dartmouth and Kingswear golf course handbook circa 1930s)

DescriptionThe state-of-the-art oak and glass “Golf House”, overlooking the River Dart, is a spectacular redevelopment of the run-down 1930s club house. Today the 5,000 sq ft house with beautiful outdoor infinity pool and gardens still retains some of the original structure yet now boasts an exclusive, colonial feel. The Golf House started out with the misplaced optimism of local entrepreneur, Alfred Roberts, as the clubhouse for his newly formed Kingswear and Dartmouth Golf Club. The golf club was not to be a success and later, under the War Act, the course was ploughed and sown with crops. The sensational location of the clubhouse was never to change however and in 2006, the house was remodelled to match its setting and with such success, it was awarded the overall winner in the Master Builder of the Year Awards.
