Deadline for Trustee nominations is March 2nd. The forms for nomination are available in the Chapel office, the rack outside the office, the Narthex and the website (www.bigcanoechapel.org/about trustees/). Please give prayerful consideration to nominating yourself as a Trustee or to nomi-nating someone else, after first seeking that person's agreement to serve.

A Trustee is one of the Chapel leaders, serving a 3-year term:

You’ll attend a monthly meeting

You may be asked to participate or lead a small group to develop a specific initiative deemed important by the Board

You will also be a liaison to one of the Chapel standing committees and attend their monthly meetings (see Trustee Expectations on the back of this letter)

Eligible candidates:

Must have been a Chapel member for a minimum of two (2) years prior to the Annual Meeting

Shall not be a current Trustee, or a prior Trustee who has not been off the board for fewer than two (2) years

Spouses cannot serve on the Board of Trustees at the same time

We’re all so thankful for the church’s response to the Broyles Mission Conference. Many people will be touched by the love of Jesus as a result of your open and giving hearts. We will not know the full impact of the conference until eternity but I have the sense in my spirit that it will be cause for rejoic-ing and eternal praise at the throne of the King!

The Mission Conference committee under the leadership of Frank and Nancy Schwartzmiller committed themselves heart and soul throughout the year. The vision for the conference was evident throughout the week-end. And I thank everyone who made the conference a priority of your prayer life. Yes, God answers prayer!

This Wednesday we will observe Ash Wednesday at noon in the sanctuary. The imposition of ashes will be available to all present. It is a meaningful way for us to enter the Lenten season and I hope you will be able to attend. The service will last 45 minutes.

Next Sunday, March 1, we will conclude the sermon series, “Step Up.” I hope you have been encouraged and inspired to be a faithful witness of God’s love and grace. I also hope we all have responded to “Stretch” in the many opportunities the Holy Spirit places before us to be witnesses of the good news.

On Sunday, March 8 and continuing for 4 weeks, I will preach a series entitled, “The Message of The Cross.” It will primarily focus upon what God communicates unto us through the Cross regarding His character and will for each of our lives. Yes, it is true God spoke---but remember, He is still speaking! The Cross shouts. I want to listen. I hope to see you in worship.

He is risen indeed!
