The class will use an instructor prepared study guide for this discussion group. The class conversation will confront these ancient directives at the points we are prone to trip over their boundaries. Hopefully, our focus will merge the spirit of the law with the spirit within us, leading us in the way of Jesus. The third offering on Wednesday afternoon will begin on January 31 at 4:00pm. “Witness Breakthrough” led by Ted Sprague, will help us in our understanding of the “Great Com- mission” to go and make disciples of all nations. “Compelled by love, not by duty” will be the guiding principle of this class. This class will be five sessions. It is our prayer that the witness- ing of our faith to the love of God through Jesus Christ will al- ways be the heart of ministry at Big Canoe Chapel. Please call the Chapel office, (470.273.6768) to sign up for classes.

Chapel Member Prayer List

Prayer for Venezuela Now- Lord today we pray for those who are home-less, naked and hungry in Venezuela. You have told us that whenever we give food, clothing, shelter, or aid to the least of these we are giving to you. These are your precious children and you long to see them cared for. Lord may our hearts be filled with compassion, may we not turn the other way, but Lord help us to see them with the same eyes of love with which you look upon them, and then Lord may we open our hands to help. We ask this in the precious name of Jesus. Amen.

Welcome

Big Canoe Chapel

welcomes Richard and Nancy Fonde to Big Canoe Chapel as associate members. Richard and Nancy live at 500 Ridgeview Dr., Big Canoe. welcome Reg Richard to Big Canoe Chapel as a fellowship member. Reg lives at 97 Sunuwa Way, Big Canoe.

Sometimes we have the tendency to make things more diffi-cult than they really are, don’t we? Plunging into the depths of God’s truth does grow and strengthen our faith. The time spent in prayer and devotion will open up new vistas of spiritual dis-covery. I believe that such discovery will launch the Christian into a “wings like eagles” life.

However, never lose sight of the simplicity of faith. When-ever I read about the lives of men and women of faith, I’m often amazed at the miracles of God’s grace that came about so freely and simply. Have you ever noticed that about the ministry of Je-sus?

One New Testament scholar observed that Jesus spent most of His time healing and eating. He noted that if the average Christian just committed to those two practices, a vibrant ex-pression of Christ would arise in them. Have you ever noticed the conversational ministry of Jesus in the gospels? While not minimizing the great preaching events involving large audi-ences, there were many times when salvation was found in the context of conversation with one or just a few.

Witnessing to one’s faith finds fertile ground among friends in the most casual settings. We can trust God with the outcome of a witness when we pray for open doors, listen in love, share in faith, and sow a seed of God’s truth.

Please don’t complicate the call to be witnesses. Just take someone to lunch. And love and listen.

Grace, peace, and joy,

Len
