Welcome & God’s Greeting

*Call to Worship (responsive) Leader People

The earth is the Lord’s and the fullness thereof, the world and all who dwell in it. In faithful love, God creates and keeps the whole creation. When seeds are sown and tender plants grow, In every season, in faithful love, God keeps and tends. When harvest fields are mown and green leaves turn to gold, In faithful love, God keeps and tends. When the warmth of summer gives way to the chill of autumn, In faithful love, God keeps and tends. When I am fruitful or fallow; feeling hopeful or hollow, In faithful love, God keeps and tends. When the ache in my soul and the sorrow in the world quenches joy, In every season, in faithful love, God keeps and tends. Like a seed in cold soil, like yeast hidden in dough, the kingdom of God grows. Within us and all around us, beyond our seeing and within our reach, The kingdom of God is present and growing. The earth is the Lord’s and the fullness thereof, the world and all who dwell in it. In faithful love, God is creating and keeping, tending and blessing. Alleluia! Amen!

Call to Confession & Prayer of Confession

Jesus says, “Come to me, all you who are weary and carrying heavy burdens. Yoke yourselfto me, remember and receive my love for you, lay your burdens down, and you will find rest foryour soul.” Together we confess our need for God’s grace and forgiveness:

Just as I am, gracious God, I come to you. I am a mix of things— Sometimes full of trust in you and eager to love my neighbors; Sometimes anxious and self-absorbed, full of judgment on myself and blind to my neighbors; Sometimes clear about your vision for the world, certain of my gifts,

and ready to serve; Sometimes overwhelmed and weighed down by bad news.

So here I am, gracious God, gathered by you to be a member of the Body of Christ. Gathered to know that you know me completely, and you love me without conditions. Gathered to rest and grow in you.

Through your Spirit, have your way with me now. And have your way with us together so that faith, hope, and love will fill and move us. For the sake of your love, we pray. Amen.

Song “Shepherd Me, O God” (sung 2 times)

Words of Assurance ¨ God’s Way for Us (Romans 12:9-18, abridged)¨ Sharing the Peace

L: Brothers and sisters, rejoice and be glad!

God who is rich in mercy, out of great love for us,

when we were dead in our disobedience,

made us alive together with Christ,

poured out the Spirit to gather us together,

and called us to be witnesses to God’s amazing grace.

P: In this gracious God, we live, and move, and have our being.

L: Therefore, let love be genuine; hate what is evil; hold fast to what is good.

Rejoice in hope, be patient in suffering, persevere in prayer.

Rejoice with those who rejoice; weep with those who weep. Welcome the stranger,

and live peaceably with all, reflecting the peace that Jesus Christ has given you—

a peace that surpasses all understanding. The peace of Christ be with you.

P: And also with you.

L: We greet one another with the peace of Christ.
