Inventoryorganises

information

This enables

- accuracy- comprehensiveness

- timeliness

of information available to decision makers at all levels.

It increases reliability of information.

So far so easy

Data collection is a small part but an important part of the whole process

Page 18: PLAMAHS mobile global-forum

If it goes wrong...

Page 19: PLAMAHS mobile global-forum

And there is still an issue with data collection: it is still often done with

paper

Page 20: PLAMAHS mobile global-forum

Collecting with paper

● Inconsistent use of nomenclature of medical equipment● Transcribing process: human error in transcribing● Shorthand/unclear writing no longer readable when data entry is

delayed● Large data collection sheets due to the quantity of collected

information● Many sheets must be kept together (risk of data loss)● Until data entered in computer, difficult to make back-ups● Illustrating photographs tedious to name and link to the specific

equipment record● No check on forgotten/skipped data fields● Final External Quality Assurance can only be done after data

entry and transfer of data (at best in weeks but often months)

Page 21: PLAMAHS mobile global-forum

But we have found an answer

Tablets and forms are a brilliant step forward in HCI which we have

leveraged for data collection purposes

DEMO!!

Key feature: doing it all on one device

Page 24: PLAMAHS mobile global-forum

Ultimate effects:

- reduces visibility of technology- enables better focus on goals- enables better prioritising- enables better administration

Page 25: PLAMAHS mobile global-forum

Better administration and maybe better management
