    Dear Parent/Carer,

As you are aware, our ongoing vision is to work together to transform the lives of our students; creating an inclusive, rewarding and ultimately impactful environment for learning. Throughout the process, communication with parentsand other stakeholders is vitally important to us; your cooperation and views are key to the success of the Academy.

Since January 2014, we have been working tirelessly to improve the overall standards of our educational provisionand we have made huge strides in this area. As part of the next phase of our improvement plan we have developed anew rewards system, as well as an improved system to deal with negative behaviour effectively.

The rewards system will focus around giving students achievement points, which in turn will be worth rewards and

prizes when certain thresholds are hit. A hierarchy of certificates and badges will be awarded to students duringassemblies throughout the year. Additionally, achievement points will form part of the admission criteria for the termlytrips/events. Details of rewards/trips/events will be communicated with home regularly via newsletters and othercommunication mediums. Comprehensive information about the rewards system will be placed on the school websitefor your perusal.

While achievement points will be used to reward students for all of their positive contributions to work and academylife, behaviour points are used as a means of recording instances of negative behaviour. Such records are vital toensure that we can put the correct interventions in place in order to address negative behaviour and engender positivestudent outcomes.

Students will receive behaviour points when they are either removed from a classroom due to their poor behaviour, orthey are displaying negative behaviour in non-structured time (at break time or on the corridors). The process should astudent receive a behaviour point is listed below. In each case the next level will only be reached should the studentfail to comply with the previous consequence:

-Level 1 consequence - Student issued with a break time detention the following day.-Level 2 consequence Student issued with a 1 hour detention.-Level 3 consequence Student issued with a day in reflection plus a rebooked detention.-Level 4 consequence Student issued with a 3pm-6pm detention plus a rebooked reflection.-Level 5 consequence Student issued with an exclusion plus a rebooked 3pm-6pm detention.

Further details of the behaviour/consequences system will also be placed on the school website for you to refer to.Thank you for taking time to review the content of this letter and please feel free to contact the Academy should youhave any queries regarding this information. We thank you in advance for your support in ensuring the best outcomesfor your child.

    Yours faithfully,

Sam Marshall (Deputy Principal Behaviour and Inclusion)
