~~ Please note the following and mark your calendar:~~

Jan 24th- Teachers Records Day NO SCHOOLfor students

I trust everyone had a relaxing and enjoyable break. I also hope you were able to have yourcamper reading to you. Our next big focus at Camp is FLUENCY. Youll remember duringconferences, I sent you home with information on it, but basically, fluency is reading as fastas we speak. (Not reading at a word-by-word pace. We dont speak that slowly.) Ourfocus of reading NOT word-by-word, but instead reading in phrases (blocks of two-threewords) will really be noticeable as your children read to you. Please help me at home withthese efforts. Your children will be assessed on this important ability very shortly.

For next week, our spelling words and word wall words will not be changing. Due to theexcessive amount of school we missed from the Snow Days, we will instead be keeping thewords you see above. We did not have spelling/word wall tests this week, but did a lot ofreview instead and got back into our school routine. Next week will be back to normal!

REMEMBER: I will now need to be more aggressive with unnecessary capitals andletter/number reversals on our tests. These will be marked wrong in an effort to startbringing attention to proper number/letter formation for 2nd grade readiness. Be sure topractice, practice, practice at home if this is an issue of concern for your child!

Check out the protopage to see the latest videos of your campers and some of the coolthings they learned about prior to our Christmas Break. A huge THANK YOU goes out to allinvolved for making learning/celebrating so much fun! As they say, It takes a village toraise a child. In our case, it takes an entire CAMP! Ha ha! Thanks again, everyone!!!
