Who we are: We teach gymnastics and cheerleading to boys and girls 18 months to 18 years old. Not only do we teach basic to intermediate gymnastics and cheerleading skills, but we also teach gross motor skills, coordination, focus, strength and self-esteem.

What sets us apart from others: We are lucky to be the only gymnastics and cheerleading center in Madison County. I think we are different because we can develop a personal relationship with our clients. We offer everything that a big gym has except we are small enough to know everyone by name. My coaches and I rarely go out in public without seeing one of our students. Who we serve: The kids! Ok, actually our clients are from all over Madison, Clark, Champaign and Franklin Counties. We really have something for every child. All children need gross motor skills, exercise and coordination. We can teach children to roll, spin, balance, swing, jump and flip in a safe environment with wall pads, foam floors, and a lot of fun, colorful mats for kids to land on.

Madison Co. has cultivated our success: There are several things that have helped with our success. 1. My Staff- Kristin, Desiree, Laura, Cricket, Dominick, Michael and my husband Tom. The gym wouldn’t be running without them. Their love for children and their knowledge of our sport is seconded to none. 2. Our Clients- the parent support and how they keep bringing their kids back and sending their friends our way is amazing! Right now, we do not have a sign out front and we rely on word of mouth. We started with 32 students last June and we have grown to almost 200 students! I am hoping that means we are meeting and exceeding their needs. 3. My family - My husband Tom has spent hours in the car handing out flyers. Tom and my parents spent about 4 months painting, building walls, assembling the floors, and putting my beams and bars together so the children here in Madison County can have a great gym. The Chamber of Commerce has cultivated our success: The Chamber’s knowledge of business and their encouragement is nice to have. Coming from an education, not business, background, they have helped me and the gym in so many ways. My favorite event this year was the Madison County Expo. We had a great response from the community and we were able to show a small portion of what we offer at the gym. The Chamber has helped schedule the gym’s Grand Opening and 1 Year Anniversary, they list the gym’s information online, and offer free classes for me and other members to learn about new rules, marketing, safety issues etc,. All of this knowledge has helped the gym grow. The gym is looking into a small expansion and David and Sean are helping me achieve this goal. I am also getting ready to do 10 hours of marketing with David and I cannot wait to see what will come from it! Thank you so much for all you do!

When was the last time you went for a walk through the countryside? Or dusted off that old bike in the garage and took it for a spin? Did you know that Madison County has some of the best trails in the state and that country right in your backyard?

With over 16 miles of scenic trails for biking, skating and hiking within the Madison County portion of the Ohio to Erie Trail, there’s no shortage of breathtaking views.

The Ohio to Erie Trail, recently ranked among the 50 Best Bike Trails in America by Complex Magazine, is a paved trail from the Ohio River to Lake Erie linking Cincinnati, Columbus and Cleveland and following lands formerly occupied by railroads and canals. Hikers, bikers and other groups including bird watchers, horseback riders, cross-country skiers and nature lovers are able to enjoy this trail as they pass through quiet woods, lush fields, charming small towns and dynamic urban centers. Enthusiasts can even travel from Cincinnati all the way to Columbus on this trail system!

Locally, the Friends of Madison County Parks and Trails, a 501c3 non-profit organization staffed by volunteers who are dedicated to supporting the Madison County Park District and the City of London, have helped complete and maintain the trail across Madison County.

The trail fits the needs of various users such as bird watchers, wildflower viewing, hikers, walkers, travelers and cyclists. Trail counters show the increased use of the trail each year since it has been open. Not only does the trail benefit those who use it, but it also has great impact on our local economy, with many trail travelers visiting our local businesses.

FMCPT also hosts regular events such as Full Moon Rides and the Rib Tickler Bike Tour in conjunction with the London Rib and Jazz Fest. Be sure to check out the Madison Monthly community calendar and fmcpt.com for info on upcoming trail events.

When you are ready to set off, on your adventure, visit ohiotoerietrail.org and fmcpt.com for maps, trail info, events and programs.

The Madison County Future, Inc. Community Improvement Corporation (CIC) has worked with the new Ohio Department of Transportation’s Jobs and Commerce department to earn a $140,000 grant to help the Village of West Jefferson cover any potential cost-overruns for Phase 1 of SR29/I70 interchange improvements.

The grant is based off of the CIC and Duke Realty’s efforts to help Restoration Hardware expand their facilities in West Jefferson adding jobs and square footage.

The Jobs and Commerce grant will leverage Duke Realty’s and Centerpoint Development’s financial commitments of $1,750,000 each towards the project.

“This is one of the first of such infrastructure projects in the state where 90% of the project is being paid with private dollars,” said Sean Hughes, Executive Director and Economic Development Director for Madison County Future, Inc.

“This creative financing of public infrastructure sends a message to the development world that we

know how to develop public and private partnerships that benefit everyone and that we are expanding our job building capacity.”

The Phase 1 SR29/I70 interchange improvements involve $4,096,000 worth of work to improve the northern entrance and exit ramps as well as adding a semi sized roundabout and some widened lanes on SR29.

The Village Council was asked to approve a $500,000 State Infrastructure Bank loan to cover any potential cost-overruns on the project. All federal highway projects require a 10% cost overrun contingency.

The $140,000 Jobs and Commerce grant, along with another financial commitment from Duke Realty for some additional land they will be adding to their development and $138,000 from a 629 Road Development grant secured by the CIC for Mars Petcare in 2010, cover over three quarters of the Village’s potential cost-overrun commitment.

“Madison County Future, Inc. has, time and time again, proven its capacity to find creative solutions to Madison County’s development issues and opportunities,” said Dusty Parker, President of the Board of Madison County Future, Inc.

“We encourage anyone who wants to invest in Madison County’s economic development efforts to get in touch with Sean at [email protected].”

The SR29 corridor currently is home to 12 employers with approximately 2,800 employees. The Village receives over $400,000 in income taxes. At full build, the corridor will house over 9,000 employees and provide the village with nearly $2 million in income tax revenue.
