AAA Word From the Pastor
Congratulations and many blessings to Father Leo Song who was ordained a
Priest for the Diocese of Rockville Centre by Bishop John Barres on Saturday morning, June 23, 2018 and celebrated his First Mass at Holy Name of Jesus last
Sunday. The Ordination and First Mass were wonderful, joy filled celebrations. Bishop Barres assigned Fr. Leo to the Church of St. Rose in Massapequa. Thank you, Father Leo, for giving Holy Name of Jesus the honor, joy and pleasure of
hosting your First Mass. Holy Name of Jesus was happy to welcome back Father Thomas Ju who served the KCA prior to the appointment of Father Steven, and
Sister Gemma. Unfortunately when the bulletin went to press on Wednesday, I had not as yet re-
ceived an update about how close we are to reaching our goal. As I reported last week, we've reached 98.2%! As soon as I am able, I will let you know when we make or made goal. Once again, my thanks to those who have responded to the
Catholic Ministries Appeal for 2018. Your gift supports a variety of diocesan minis-tries serving the people on Long Island.
Thank you to all who purchased tickets for the annual Spring Raffle. The drawing was held Monday morning, June 25, at 10:15 AM. Congratulations to the three
winners. Please see the listing of the winners elsewhere in this bulletin.
This weekend we welcome Father Alex Mariadass, who will be with us for the month of July. I'm sure you remember him from the past few years. Father Alex hails from India and is currently pursuing graduate studies in Rome. For you in-
formation, even though you might see me around, I'm technically on vacation - no big travels plans, perhaps a trip or two to Maine to visit friends. While Father Alex
is with us for the month, perhaps he'll consider sharing some thoughts with us on this page.
Dan Kmiotek officially retired on Friday, June 29 after being with HNJ for 10 years. Over the years, Dan has worked hard in and around the Church and our property. An informal farewell reception will be hosted on Sunday, July 15 after the 10:45 AM Mass to thank Dan for his dedicated service AND to wish him well in his retirement. Congratulations Dan. We wish you a long, happy and healthy re-tirement.

FOCUS: For the times we lose hope and even fall into despair when illness and the death of loved ones overwhelm us, we ask for reminders that God is the God of the living. We pray for God’s mercy, healing,
and peace. In the first reading, a wise teacher talks about the life enjoyed by all things in this world. But God created man and woman to enjoy eternal life in the world to come. In the second reading, Paul is grateful for all the accomplishments of God’s holy people. Like the Lord,
they are generous in every way. In the Gospel, Jesus heals a 12-year-old girl and a woman suffering from hemorrhages for 12 years. In both cases he gives them new life. Published by Franciscan Media
