AAA Word From the Pastor

As we enter into the New Year, the Staff at HNJ joins me in extending to all parishioners our

prayers and good wishes to all for a very Happy New Year. Likewise, we thank you for your

prayers and thoughtful wishes. Many thanks to all who helped with the Christmas decorations

at Church. And as always, a special thank you to all who serve in a variety of ministries.

You might want to mark your calendars for two upcoming events at HNJ. On Saturday, Jan-

uary 27, 2018, the second Pre-Super Bowl Party. All are invited to pray the rosary at 4:30

PM and to stay for the 5:15 PM Mass at 5:15 PM followed by the celebration in the parish

hall. All are invited to attend. However, if you plan to come to the celebration following the

Mass, PLEASE complete and return the reservation form in the bulletin so that we have suffi-

cient seating and food. Likewise, we will once again have the Super Bowl Pool. Boxes are

still available. Please see one of the Knights from the Joseph Mario Reali Council as you

leave Mass if you are interested in having a box.

Please take note that Religious Education Classes resume Monday, January 8.

We still need some generous parishioners who are willing to help visit the homebound.

FOCUS: Father, when our lives become confused,

scattered, painful, or filled with intimidating

challenges, we sometimes forget that you are still

holding us, and for this we ask forgiveness. In the first reading, a prophet brings good news for the city of Jerusalem. The nations of the world stream toward Jerusalem to give praise to God. In the second reading, Paul expresses how grateful he is for the privilege of

serving God as the apostle to the gentiles. In the Gospel,

Magi from the East come to pay homage to the newborn king of the Jews officials plot against him. Published by Franciscan Media

Stewardship of Treasure

December 31, 2017

Regular Collection: $3,925 Solemnity: $842

We are grateful this week for all stewards in our parish who strive to remind us that God is with us always to watch over and protect us.

Please pray for all the faithful departed, and for all the souls in purgatory who have no one to pray for them. May God grant them eternal rest.

Giving Tree Project Thanks to all the parishioners of Holy Name of Jesus who again gave to the Giving Tree Project. Rob, coordinator of the project for the INN, sent his appreciation for your generosity which will make Christmas extra special for the children and adults at The INN shelters and soup kitchen. As in years past, this year over 115 boys and girls and adults had their Christmas wishes granted because of you. Thanks also go to Charlene Peninno, Tom Higgins, Maureen, Kevin, and Rebecca Sher, Dan, our Plant Manager, who all gave of not only their treasure, but also their time and talents. The Giving Tree Project went Smoothly due to their efforts. Irene Higgins, Chair Giving Tree Project
