AAA Word From the Pastor
In two days, we celebrate the wonderful feast of Christmas. My hope and prayer for you is that the
Light of Christ will shine brightly in your hearts and in your homes during the Christmas Season and
throughout the New Year. Please accept my sincere thanks for all you do for Holy Name of Jesus. I
hope the New Year will see all of us working together to continue building up the parish family.
Tuesday, January 1st, is the feast of Mary, the Mother of God and it is a Holy Day of Obligation.
There will be a vigil Mass on Monday, December 31st at 5:15 PM, and two Masses on Tuesday, Jan-
uary 1st at 9 and 10:15 AM.
There will be no bulletin next weekend, December 29-30th. So in this bulletin is the schedule of an-
nounced Masses for December 22 through January 4th along with the monthly calendar for January
2019 listing parish events and meetings. Just a reminder– Religious Education classes resume on
Monday, January 7, 2019
Let me begin by thanking you for your prayers, greetings, wishes and concern over the past two
weeks. I mysteriously disappeared on Wednesday evening, December 5, when I was admitted to St.
Francis Hospital and I 'm happy to tell you that I received excellent care from my doctors and the en-
tire hospital staff. I was discharged on December 13 with doctor's orders that I could gradually re-
sume my pastoral duties as pastor with a light schedule for the remaining weeks of this year. As I
thank you for your prayers and concern, I also thank the parish staff, Lorelei (aka "Bullet"), Ryan and
Sal for seeing to the daily operations of the parish and arranging to have priests for the scheduled
Masses. Thanks, too, to Fathers Damian Lee and John Melepuram who reside at the rectory with me
at HNJ and to the visiting priests, Fathers Benjamin, Peter and Raj for being available to say Mass.
Let's pray and hope that the New Year will be a blessed, happy, peaceful and healthy one for all of
us!
From all of us on staff at HNJ, we wish you and your
loved ones the love Jesus, Mary, and Joseph knew on the first Christmas. May that love, peace, and happiness remain with you in the New Year.

FOCUS: Jesus and Mary always obeyed the will of
God. For the times we have not followed their
example, we ask God’s forgiveness. In the first reading, a prophet looks to the town of Bethlehem for hope. From this lowly place God will raise up an ideal king. In the second reading, we learn that Jesus came to fulfill his Father’s saving plan. His sacrifice surpasses all others. In the Gospel, Mary visits Elizabeth and the child in her
womb pays homage to the child in Mary’s womb by
leaping.

FOCUS: In our thoughts, words and deeds, we can fail
to recognize how much God loves us and understands
our daily problems. We now humbly invite God into
the secrets of our hearts. In the first reading, a wise teacher offers a valuable lesson. A family held together by love and respect will enjoy many blessings. In the second reading, Paul encourages the people of faith to value all
that is spiritual and to express thanks to God at all
times. In the Gospel, the 12-year-old Jesus is found in the temple by his parents after having been lost for three days. Published by Franciscan Media
