Selwo Marina Benalmadena For A Great Family Day Out

Situated next to Paloma Park in Benalmadena Costa is one of

the Costa del Sols most popular places for a f amily day out .Selwo Marina is quite a compact park housing a variety of marine

creatures including penguins f rom the Antarctic, dolphins f rom

the Caribbean Sea, wildlife f rom the Amazon rain forest and

exot ic birds.

When you visit Selwo Marina, you will be given a map of the park

that also tells you when the animal shows take place throughout

the day. The biggest highlight of these shows is def initely the

dolphin display. This takes part in the large salt water poo l with

terraced seating where you can enjoy watching the skills of

these amazing, so ciable creatures.

Another display that takes part in the do lphinarium is the sea lion show. The star of this show is mos t

certainly a large male sea lion called Bruno. You will see him perform an array of tricks including spinning

hula hoops, balancing a ball on his nose and his very popular disco dancing.

The other end of park is where the penguins live in Ice Island. To replicate the penguins natural

environment, the temperature and light in Ice Island is strictly regulated.

Four species of penguins live at Selwo: Gentoo, Rockhoppers , Magellanic and the giant King Penguin

who can grow up to a metre in height. The best time to visit the penguins is at f eeding time when their

keeper gives a talk about them in English and Spanish.

Another section of the park is the Amazonian exhibit ion where you can see f ish, terrapins , f rogs and

snakes.

Selwo also has a f un adventure playground f or t he children, where they can burn of f more energy using

the climbing f rame, slides and walkways.

Next to the playground is a lake with f lamingos, cormorants and pelicans.

If you f ancy a bite to eat you can choose between the fast- f ood outlet serving burgers and chips or

relax in the air-conditioned restaurant and enjoy a f ull 3-course menu.

On site there is also ice cream stalls and fo r a spot of shopping, so why not pop into the small gif t shop

while you are there.
