ELEVENTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME JUNE 16, 2013

YOUTH MINISTRY I would like to thank all the volunteers who have signed up for the St. John Vianney Fair. The Fair begins this Monday, June 17th and continues through Saturday. I have e-mailed volunteers the final copy of the schedule last week. Please contact me if you have any questions regarding shifts or if you need to make any changes. I appreciate your dedication to serve. Speaking of serving, our summer service project will take place from July 1st to July 5th. We are painting the convent at St. John's and making repairs to the rectory at St. Cecelia's. I am seeking volunteers to assist with these fun local service opportunities. Please contact me at [email protected] or by calling the office at (732) 381-0008 to sign up. Remember I am always looking to add youth ministry members and their parents to my facebook page dedicated to youth ministry, so send me a friend request to register...yes parents too!!!

YOUNG ADULT GROUP Yes we are still seeking volunteers for Friday and Saturday nights to collect tickets and serve beer at the beer tent. We would be honored for you to join us. Please contact John Cook at [email protected] or call the office at (732) 381-0008. Thank you. Please spread the word about our youth ministry reunion scheduled for Saturday July 21st. participants can register by emailing John Cook [email protected] by calling the office at (732) 381-0008 or by joining the group on facebook. I am excited to see everyone once again!!!

SUMMER SERVICE PROJECT The youth group is staying local this year. Once we are finished serving at the fair, we are painting the convent at St. John's and making repairs to the rectory at St. Cecelia's. It's my hope that we can fund the repairs to our home parishes just like we do in Appalachia, so we are asking you to consider donating to this cause. Checks can be made out to St. John Vianney youth group and mailed to John Cook at St. John Vianney Church, 420 Inman Ave, Colonia, NJ. 07067. All proceeds will fund both projects. Thank you for your generosity this and every year. God Bless!!

SOCIETY OF ST. VINCENT DE PAUL Thank you Dads, for teaching your children to love the poor by having them place their offerings of nickels and dimes in the Poor Box. It’s not the amount that matters as much as the desire to serve the poor and the needy. The donations may be small, but the spiritual benefits are big. Love for the poor will foster spiritual values in your children that will last a life-time.

HAPPY FATHER’S DAY

“GIVE THEM A DAY”

What shall you give to one small child?

A glamorous game, a tinseled toy, A train that runs on a curving track?

A picture book, a real live pet? There’s plenty of time for such things yet.

Give them a day for their very own. Just one small child and their Dad alone.

A walk in the woods, a run in the park. A fishing trip from dawn til dark.

Give the gift that only you can – The companionship of their “Old Man”.

Games are outgrown, and toys decay. But a child will never forget

If you give them a day.

Prayer for

Fathers

St. Joseph, guardian of Jesus and chaste husband of Mary, you passed your life in loving fulfillment of

duty. You supported the holy family of Nazareth with the work of your hands. Kindly protect those

who trustingly come to you. You know their aspirations, their hardships, their hopes. They look to you

because they know you will understand and protect them. You too knew trial, labor and weariness. But amid the worries of material

life, your soul was full of deep peace and sang out in true joy through intimacy with God’s Son entrusted to you and with Mary, his

tender Mother. Assure those you protect that they do not labor alone. Teach them to find Jesus near them and to watch over him

faithfully as you have done.

- Pope John XXIII
