Juego de Mandatos
• Select a leader for each group. Each leader takes turns at giving an instruction to a member of his group. If the instruction is followed correctly, the student gets a point and the leader then directs an instruction to another student. The game continues until there is only one student left standing in the group. This student becomes the new leader.
Juego de Mandatos
Directions: Game is to be played with two players. Each player flips a penny. If it lands on heads, they move two spaces. If it lands on tails, they move one space. They must say what the command means in English. If they can not translate the command correctly, they must go back to their original space. First one to the end wins.

uno dos tres cuatro cinco seis
siete ocho nueve diez
The numbers 11-14 are similar to their counterparts
1-4. Look and see if you notice a pattern:1 = uno once = 11
2 = dos doce = 12
3 = tres trece = 13
4 = cuatro catorce = 14
5 = cinco quince = 15
Notice how 11, 12, 13, & 14 are similar to 1,2,3,& 4. That leaves 15, which becomes quince. Can you see the similarities?
The numbers 16-19 are simply the number 10 combined with its counterpart
6,7,8,and 9 in Spanish. Do you see the pattern?
16 dieciséis
diecisiete
dieciocho
diecinueve
17
18
19
Notice that when combining diez with another number, the letter “z” changes to a “c” and is followed by the letter “i” (which really replaces the “y” and translates to “and”, as in diez y seis, etc.). Do you notice the pattern?
dieciocho
diecinueve
Give it a try…
• Click on the word that corresponds to its number:
12 once trece quince doce
15 diecicinco cinco quince catorce
18 ocho dieciocho catorce diecisiete
Now let’s try 20 - 29• The number 20 is veinte in Spanish. To
count to 29, just add the number 1 (uno), 2 (dos), etc., to the prefix vienti-
21 veintidós22
2324
25
26272829
veintiuno
veintitrés
veinticuatro
veinticinco
veintiséis
veintisiete
veintiochoveintinueve
Do you notice the pattern? Remember that the letter “i” represents the “y” or “and” as in veinte y uno. Now, the numbers from 30 and higher follow this same pattern. Are you ready to continue?
First, give the twenties a try…
24 veinte veintiuno veinticuatro veinte y cuatro
26 veinte veinte y seis veinticinco veintiseis
29 veinte y nueve veintinueve veintiocho veintidós
Now,Let’s try the thirties…
• From here on out it is helpful to know that -inta (as in treinta) translates to
• -ty (as in thirty). Therefore, as tres is to three, treinta is to thirty. Likewise, as cuatro is to four, cuarenta is to fourty. Do you see the pattern? Can you guess what fifty would be?
cincuentaand 60……….
sesenta
and 70…
setentaand 80…
ochentaand 90…
noventa
Now you only need to add the numbers 1 (uno), 2 (dos), 3 (tres), etc. with the letter “y” (and) to the numbers 30
(treinta), 40, (cuarenta), etc. Do you see the pattern?
Now, you give it a try…
32 tres y dos treinta y dos treinta y tres treinta
48 cuarenta cuatro y ocho cuarenta y ocho cuarenta y dos
55 quince cincuenta y cinco cinco y cinco cincuenta
64 sesenta sies y cuatro sesenta y cuatro sesenta y dos
78 setenta y ocho setenta y tres seiete y ocho setenta y cuatro
83 ocho y tres ochenta y tres ochenta y cinco ochenta y sies
97 noventa y siete noventa noventa y sies nueve y siete
