INSTAGRAM TIPS FROM JULIE DEILY

1. Choose an appropriate username

• That’s easy to remember

• If possible the same username as your twitter account

• You can change your instagram handle

2. Fill out your bio

• Make sure you have your location (town: Orlando/area: Central Florida), address & hours listed in your bio

• Website or link to your facebook about page (where you should have your address & hours)

3. Start a hashtag and use it

• Example: mine is #thelittlekitchenrecipes

• Put it in your bio

• Encourage people to use it by including it in your captions• Putting it on your signs, packaging, food

truck, next to your register

• Interact with people who use your hashtag, thank them for posting/sharing

4. Repost others’ content

• Repost photos of people using or trying your product, visiting your shop/booth/truck

• Great way to utilize fan content and not have to create it yourself

• ALWAYS give credit by @ mentioning who posted the photo

• Ask permission if possible

• Use Report or InstaRepost apps (don’t screenshot instagram ☺ )

6. Tagging vs. @ mentioning

• Tags show up in the photo just like in photos on facebook (tap the name and it takes you to their profile)• Depending on the user’s settings, it will

show up in their profile (the far right tab on their profile)

• When you tag, it will show up in their notifciations

• @ mentioning in a caption or comment will notify the person• @ mentions don’t show up on a person’s

profile

7. Share Quality Photos

• Use natural lighting when possible• Photos should be in focus• Don’t shoot so close• Share behind the scenes shots• Take photos with the square dimensions in

mind• If you’re using low-res images (from your

website), don’t zoom in or the image will be pixelly

9. Edit your PhotosMy favorite editing apps:

• Afterlight• Phonto
