Welcome to Word Up!

Brent Libraries is proud to introduce you to this year’s Word Up! programme – the biggest celebration of books, reading and learning in the borough.

This year’s programme offers author talks, drama, film, family activities, craft workshops and more. Word Up! includes something for children, families, young people and adults. I’m delighted that excellent writers and authors such as Tim Butcher, Colin Grant and Chris Salewicz will be speaking in our libraries. Top performers and entertainers such as Felix Dexter and Kwame M.A. McPherson will also be here to inspire and entertain you as well as musicians of the calibre of Lascelles James.

Word Up! is offering you the opportunity to learn more about business, improve your skills, employment chances or get some money-saving tips and learn to be a little more thrifty with free author talks, workshops, advice days and events in our libraries.

For children there will be many wonderful reading, craft and learning activities with Rachel Rose Reid, Sophie Herxheimer and others as well as special talks, drama and events for schools. Brent Museum has activities for families again this year and for adults some fascinating talks as part of the programme.

This is an exciting time for Brent’s library service and I hope to see as many of you as possible enjoying Word Up! this autumn in our modern vibrant libraries.
