PASTORAL POST
In Loving Memory of Sr. Marie Shields, SNDdeN
It is with great sadness that we ended 2019 with the loss of Sr. Marie Shields,
SNDdeN, who passed away at her motherhouse on December 31, 2019. This past
week, we have had a rosary vigil for her, aended/watched her funeral, and now
are preparing a memorial Mass to be held at St. Mahias in the near future. We
have had many wonderful comments on our parish Facebook page (St. Mahias
Columbus) about her and we would like to share a few of them:
“She was such a sweet Godly person! She had a knack for making
everyone feel welcome with her loving smile.”
— John H.
“She was so an Angel on earth. She visited Mom and Dad every week
and helped us plan their funerals. She will be very missed by many.”
— Lynne B.
“Sister Marie was very special. We le= the Columbus area many
years ago but when we came back to St. Mahias she always
remembered us and warmly greeted us.”
— Larry L.
“Sister Marie was so inspiraonal to all of us parishioners and
the school children. Her posive influence will live on in all
of us who knew her.”
— Dick K.
“A wonderful person who worked relessly for all.”
— Cindy O.
“I will always remember the first day of school every year
opening car doors.”
— Ma R.
“She made us all beer people. She is a saint.”
— Michael C.
As we enter into 2020, Sr. Marie certainly will be missed. She impacted so many
lives, more than we will ever know. May she now see the God she loved and
served faithfully her enre life face to face.
