INTERNATIONAL NURSES DAY
May 12 is marked as International Nurses Day, to mark the birthanniversary of the Lady with the Lamp, Florence Nightingale. This dayis celebrated to honor the crucial role played by the nurses in therecovery and well being of people, all over the globe. Students realisedand saluted the dedication and devotion with which these nursesrender tireless selfless service to humanity.

Eid-Ul-Fitr, the festival of breaking the fast, marks the end ofthe month long dawn to sunset fasting of Ramadan month. Itis an occasion for special prayers, charity and gift giving. Thestudents at Vidya Bharati marked this special day by sketchingand painting beautiful cards and posters depicting the joyfulmood and cheerful atmosphere, this festival is associatedwith.

Each year, the third Friday of May, is observed as the Endangered Species Day all overthe world. This day is celebrated to bring forth, awareness amongst humans, abouttheir thoughtless actions like uncontrolled poaching and insensitive invasion into thehabitat of the flora and the fauna all over the world. Our students at VBS were guidedby their mentors on different ways to protect these endangered species. They wereencouraged to gather information about flora and fauna and made vibrant postersdepicting their research.

Also known as Vaishak, this day marks the birth, enlightenmentand death of Gautama Buddha, the founder of Buddhism. Thisimportant day falls on the first full moon day (Poornima) of theHindu month Vaishakh. The devotees of Buddhism visit theshrines, recite hymns of Gautam Buddha and serve the needyand poor. The students at Vidya Bharati collected informationabout Gautam Buddha and his teachings. They showcasedthese teachings in the form of colourful posters.

It works on the production ofcommodities in India, making the country amanufacturing hub of the world. At Vidya Bharati, thestudents were encouraged to create diverse things byusing their intellect and expertise. The students alsomade posters to depict the need of strengthening theinfrastructure of the country for its overall growth anddevelopment.

ARUNACHAL PRADESHIndia is a land of rich cultural heritage.Following the principle of “Ek BharatShrestha Bharat,” this month, wetalked about Arunachal Pradesh, astate known for its pristine beauty.Our students researched andpresented various art forms ofArunachal Pradesh, depicted theirlifestyle by making drawings of theirattire, learnt how to make traditionaldishes and danced to the state’smusic.
