1 Vidya Bharati Akhil Bhartiya Shiksha Sansthan NEWS LETTER Vol. - 2 No.- 11 February 2020 www.vidyabharti.net Alumni Meet At The First School Of Vidya Bharati In Gorakhpur Goraksh Pranta, organized an Almuni meet at the first school of Vidya Bharati - Saraswati Shishu Mandir, in Pakkibag, Gorakhpur on 12 th January. In 1952 some patriots, including Social Worker Nanaji Desmukh, founder of Gita Press Bhai Hanuman Prasad Poddar, Industrialist Bala Babu Tulsyan, Educationist Dr Devi Prasad Agarwal, Social Worker Krishna Chandra Gandhi, established a small Saraswati Shishu Mandir in Gorakhpur to provide value based education in tune with the Indian culture. Creating a distinct identity in the society led us to establish more such schools. The need to form a national organization was felt and in 1977 Vidya Bharati Akhil Bhartiya Siksha Sansthan was established. Today we have 12,828 formal schools and 11,353 informal schools. In this alumni meet Sri Shiv Kumar, National Secretary of Vidya Bharati addressed the gathering. He talked of the importance of inculcating patriotism and teaching students of our culture and history. Emphasising on the need of value education, he said that the nation needs youth who have ‘sanskars’ and character. It is only such youth that can take the nation forward. Sri Shreyansh Mohan, Deputy Commissioner of Mumbai Customs, was the Chief Guest on the occasion. Other dignitaries included Sri Prashant

Pandey (Provincial President), Sri VipinKumar (Private Secretary Railway LandDevelopment Authority), Sri Yogesh(Head of Regional Services), SriOmprakash Jalan and SP TrafficGorakhpur. The lamp was lit bySri Aditya Prakash Verma.

Some alumni also shared theirthoughts and experiences in theprogram. They included Dr SreejanSrivastava (dentist), Sri Prem Paraya(Dainik Jagran), Sri Rakesh Upadhyay(folkloric singer), Sri Puneet Pandey

(prefecture cum social mediahead), Sri Chhattu Prasad,Sri Arjun Prasad, Sri RajeshSrivastava, Sri Sanjay Kashyap,Ms Niharika and others.

The program waspresided over by Dr. MahendraAgrawal Ji (DepartmentOrganizer RashtriyaSwayamsevak Sangh,Gorakhpur). On the occasion,the pracharks of RashtriyaSwayamsevak Sangh GorakshProvince, Sri Subhash,

Around 1000 Alumni attended the Alumni Meet.

Sri Kamlesh Singh ( StateInspector),Sri Akshay Thakur(Principal Secretary), Sri Shivaji Rai(State Inspector Public EducationCommittee), Principal Sri DhirendraSingh, Sri Rajbihari Vishwakarma, SriRakesh Mani including all theAcharya of the school.

Some other highlights of themeet are:1. Around 800-1000 Alumni attendedthe first ever Alumni Meetat Saraswati Shishu Mandir(10+2),Pakkibag, Gorakhpur.

2. Alumni Portal got great visibility.The national alumni team had putup standees, at registration desksdistributed Alumni RegistrationCards for Alumni & TeacherRegistrations. 3. Alumni Portal team interactedwith the Alumni, shared with themthe benefits4. Sri Shiv Kumar Ji also sharedviews of Vidya Bharati Alumniportal from the stage to entireaudience 5. The alumni team has captured

video interviews of Alumni, Teachers,Pranta Heads - all the videos will beuploaded in You-tube shortly and willbe shared with 6. The first batch 1952 - senior mostalumni Sri Anup Sarkari Ji was presentand shared about his views ofSarawasti Shishu Mandir.7. Vidya Bharati Alumni Portal teamwas awarded on stage with SaraswatiRatna Samman 2020 for the help tothe Purv Chatra Community.8. All Schools of Goraksh area are nowregistered in the portal9. Plans are afoot to organize muchbigger Alumni Sammelan next yearagain.

On 29th December 2019, onthe occasion of ‘Poorva VidyarthiMaha Sammelan’ in Hyderabad,Retired Air Force officer, Sri CBRPrasad, announced in front of thegathered alumni that he would like to donate his land in Vijayawada, AndhraPradesh and Hyderabad amountingto approximately more than 20 croresfor development of Vidya Bharatischools and hopes that more childrenwould get the opportunity to geteducated under the umbrella of VidyaBharati schools. 

Sri CBR Prasad is a truenationalist, who has dedicated hisentire life to the service of hismotherland. Sri Prasad, hailing fromKrishna district of Andhra Pradeshhad a humble beginning. He joinedthe Indian Air Force in the year 1964and served the nation for nine yearsuntil 1973. After retiring from the AirForce, he started his own poultryfarming business, working hard toestablish himself. 

He might haveleft the army,but his will toserve his nationremained strong.Armed withthe aim of helping others,he started asports university :‘CBR Academyof Sports andEducation’ topromote sports

by sponsoring talented youngsters.The academy provides coaching inathletics, archery, weightlifting andtennis. What makes this academyunique is that all the facilities andtraining is free of cost along withresidential and boarding facilities. Theacademy has two campuses, one inTelangana and another in AndhraPradesh. Several students from thisacademy have competedsuccessfully in international arena andmade the country proud by winningmedals.

Recently Sri CBR Prasad, hadalso donated 1.8 crore rupees to theIndian defence forces in a bid to helpthe Indian soldiers.

Sri CBR Prasad is a firmbeliever of social service, as he feelsthat it is the responsibility of everycitizen to give back to society in orderto build a strong nation.

Vidya Bharati is grateful to SriCBR Prasad for his noble gesture totake the Nation forward.

R Shashidhara Chary, Shares His Passion For SocialService And Rural Development

Though rapid urbanization istaking place in India, withapproximately 121 Crore people stillresiding in villages (2011 census), thesoul of India is undoubtedly rural innature. In a developing country likeIndia, several rural areas are stilllagging behind in an assortment ofsectors in relation to their urbancounterparts such as education,healthcare, transportation, agriculture,sanitation etc. Keeping the presentscenario in mind, it is highly crucial toput continued effort towards thedevelopment of this sector.

Vidya Bharati alumnus R Shashidhara Chary  of Saraswati Shishumandir school,Karimnagar, Telangana grew up ina household witnessing his father, whoworked in government serviceengaged in the advancement of ruralsector.  The dedication of his fatherinspired Sri R Shashidhara Chary towork in the same field.

He started his career as‘Junior Assistant’ in Andhra PradeshPublic Service Commission (APPSC)after passing his Group-II Bexamination in 1991, where he workedfor 4 years. In 1995 he got selectedas ‘Deputy Tahsildar’ by APPSC andworked for 6 years. Later he waspromoted to ‘Tahsildar’ in 2000. Heheld the post till 2007 and worked inremote and Naxal infested areas ofKarimnagar district. In 2007 hebecame ‘Commercial Tax Officer’ andpresently is working as DeputyCommissioner in Hyderabad City.

During his long tenure, as‘Deputy Tehsildar’, he was associatedwith numerous rural developmentalactivities in the fields of housing,sanitation, health and family planning.In between the time frame of 2000-2002, he along with his team hadconducted many ‘Family PlanningCamps’ in their area which wasimmensely successful. Nearly 1000Family Planning operations took placedue to his effort.

Along with his developmentalwork through his profession Sri RShashidhara Chary is also an advisorto ‘We Shall Overcome’ trust since2017 which is involved with variedsocial work, in the fields of health,environment, education and childdevelopment. He took an active part

towards mobilization of more than 20lakh rupees as corpus fund ofthe organization.

While talking about theimpact of his school, SriR Shashidhara Chary stressed onthe fact that the lessons of ‘Dharma’,‘Seva’ and Sacrifice taught to himin his school still acts as a guidingforce in his life. He is still in touchwith his ‘acharyas’ who havetaught him and likes to spend qualitytime in their presence wheneverhe visits his hometown.

He hopes that in future, VidyaBharati will be able to establish moreEnglish medium schools in the ruralareas, so that more children can getthe benefit of complete education asgiven by Vidya Bharati schools.

According to Sri R ShashidharaChary, his entire family, starting fromhis parents, Sri Niranjana Chary andmother Smt. Kshema, his wife Pavithraand himself has always beenpassionate about serving society andwishes that in the near future, his son,Anurag can also prove to be an idealcitizen and an avid social worker.

Dr. Vikram Menaria From Rajasthan, Working TowardsComprehensive Health Via Naturopathy And Yoga

His respect for ourcountry’s heritageand love for Yogastarted during hisschool days, wherehe received hisfirst training in‘Yoga Asanas’.  Aftercompletion of hisschooling, Vikramwent on to completehis BBA and MBAfrom Janardan RaiNagar RajasthanVidyapeeth.

Later on Dr. Menaria’sattachment with the art of ‘Yoga’led him to work as a Yoga Instructorand Naturopath for the last 3 years.In an attempt to spread the conceptof healthy living among the masseshe regularly organizes freeNaturopathy and Yoga camps. 

Along with being a passionateYoga instructor, Dr. Vikram Menariais an ardent social worker andnationalist as well.  In order to servethe society, he started an NGO,named ‘Ahuti Seva Education andResearch Institute’ in 2007 ,recognized by Govt. of Rajasthan.The institution works on varied socialconcerns in Udaipur, such as treeplantation, organization of blooddonation camps, blanket distributionto homeless etc.

Competitions, Debate Contests, DeshBhakti Song Competitions, CulturalKnowledge Quiz Competitions etc. arealso organised under the banner of theorganisation with the aim of promotingnationalism and patriotism among theyouth.

When asked about the impactthat his school has had on his life,Dr. Menaria said that apart fromintroducing him to Yoga, the importantlife lessons learned from his schoolwas the concept of time managementand necessity of discipline in daily life.He also credits his school foracquainting him with the stories of greatmen like Swami Vivekananda,Maharishi Arvind and ChhatrapatiShivaji Maharaj, from whom he drawshis inspiration.

It is really heartening to see VidyaBharati alumni like Dr. Vikram Menariaengaged towards strengthening therich legacy of Indian culture.
