Community Addiction Teams have been very successful in meeting the primary objectives of the parent organisations with the overall caseload having doubled over the life of the Partnership under the treatment and care development aimed primarily but not exclusively to treating those with alcohol addictions. There is a requirement for administration staff to offer support to both community and secondary services based staff in a variety of locations. Additionally, the service is developing community based services for the Addictions Psychiatric Medical services which are mostly currently based in the main psychiatric hospitals. The plan is to develop community based clinics to deliver services more locally. You will provide a full administrative and secretarial service to a multi-disciplinary team, including Consultants, Medical Officers, nursing staff, social work addiction workers, including, management of information systems and the co-ordination of clinical referral systems. You will be based in a West locality but will work in a variety of settings according to the needs of the service. (e.g. outreach clinics based in health centres). You will support the delivery of care to those with an addiction problem and should be aware of the vulnerability of this client group. Excellent communication and IT Skills which include speed and accuracy are essential. You will be required to work under pressure in an extremely busy environment, which includes processing of work and information to tight timescales, which often are out-with the control of the service. You will also be dealing with patients and relatives who can be demanding, aggressive or distressed. Flexibility is an essential part of the remit. This new post has been funded from the National Delivery Plan to lead, develop and deliver the dietetic service within the Department of Paediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition (PGHN) at the Royal Hospital for Sick children, Yorkhill and the West of Scotland Managed Clinical Network (MCN). We are looking for a skilled, innovative dietitian with excellent clinical, managerial, organisational and communication skills to lead this service. The Department of PGHN at Yorkhill is a national and tertiary referral centre for the West of Scotland and has a team of 19.6wte paediatric Dietitians. You will manage a varied, challenging and complex caseload, including Inflammatory Bowel Disease, Short Gut Syndrome, Liver disease and Coeliac disease. You will take the lead in the design, development and implementation of dietetic policies and clinical pathways within the MCN. You will also plan, initiate and develop extended roles for dietitians within PGHN including the dietetic led coeliac service. You will have a BSc in Dietetics or equivalent, be registered with the HPC and have post graduate training in Paediatric Dietetics to Masters Level or equivalent and substantial clinical experience in Paediatric Gastroenterology and complex nutritional support. This post combines additional psychiatric sessions to the West of Scotland Adolescent Psychiatric Unit based in Stobhill Hospital in the north of the city and a replacement part time Consultant post in Community Child and Adolescent Mental Health based in South Glasgow. The post holder will join a group of consultants in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry employed by NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde. In the Adolescent Unit you will be part of an established complement of two full time consultants working exclusively in the Adolescent Unit. In the community you will work in well established multi-disciplinary teams as part of a network of Child and Adolescent Psychiatric Services throughout Greater Glasgow and Clyde. The South Glasgow Community Child and Adolescent Mental Health Team is based in the Gorbals area of Glasgow and serves the population of around 50,000 with a diverse socioeconomic mix of localities. There is a significant ethnic minority population within parts of this area. The West of Scotland Adolescent Patient Unit provides inpatient psychiatric services for young people between the ages of 12 and up to their 18th birthday to the west of Scotland. As part of a coordinated network of psychiatric CAMHS services across NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde this post will have responsibilities to provide out of hours psychiatric care within Greater Glasgow and Clyde. Glasgow is a vibrant city with many cultural and sporting facilities available, and is sited in the central belt of Scotland with easy access to the Highlands of Scotland and the west and south coasts. The NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde Medicines Information Service provides a clinical enquiry answering and advice service on all aspects of medicines use accessible by all health care professionals in acute and Primary Care. It is also a key contributor to medicines policy development and has significant involvement in the projects to optimise the clinical and cost effective use of medicines. You will be involved in all aspects of the medicines information enquiry service with specific responsibility for leading on the critical appraisal of medicines including education and training of other healthcare professionals and providing information to support individual patient treatment request panels within the acute division. The Scottish Medicines Consortium (SMC) is a national advisory body that provides advice to Health Boards and Area Drug and Therapeutic Committees within NHS Scotland about the clinical and cost-effectiveness of new medicines launched in the UK to support resource planning and formulary management. You will lead the evaluation of clinical data submitted to the Scottish Medicines Consortium (SMC) by pharmaceutical companies for new chemical entities, significant new formulations and significant new indications of existing medicines launched in the UK. This is used to provide the clinical evidence base for national advice regarding the acceptability of these for use in patient care within NHS Scotland. In addition Pharmaceutical Analysts have ongoing commitments to contribute to the maintenance and development of horizon-scanning services for NHS Scotland, participate in projects for the development of SMC processes and outputs and to participate in a framework for skill sharing with NHS colleagues. Radiotherapy Physics has a vacancy for a Lead Dosimetrist working within Treatment Planning. The post is based at the Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre, offering state of the art radiotherapy equipment and services with eleven linear accelerators and a full range of supporting facilities, including IMRT, IGRT, Stereotaxy, CT and MRI Simulators, PET/CT, HDR and prostate seed brachytherapy services. You will lead one of the teams of Dosimetrists in the day to day management of technical staff and work involved in the delivery of the comprehensive specialist services in the planning of routine and highly complex radiotherapy treatments. Working closely with the other Lead Dosimetrists and Planning Service Manager, you will play a key role for the treatment planning service, supporting the continuing development of the Dosimetrist teams and helping to deliver new planning techniques to the Centre. You must be an effective communicator, capable of working and responding under pressure and demonstrate a commitment to provide a high quality service. A BSc in Therapeutic Radiography or a Degree in Medical Technology or equivalent is required. A vacancy has arisen for a Clinical Physicist to join Radiotherapy Physics at the Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre. State of the art radiotherapy equipment and services are available with eleven linear accelerators and a full range of supporting facilities, including IMRT, IGRT, Stereotaxy, CT and MRI Simulators, PET/CT, HDR and prostate seed brachytherapy services. PET imaging facilities, with on-site cyclotron, are also available. This is an excellent opportunity to gain specialist knowledge and experience within a large Centre, contributing in aspects of the routine scientific support services provided in the Department and participating in a wide ranging number of new and ongoing scientific developments. You will contribute to the commissioning and development of new planning techniques, develop new QA systems, play an active role in teaching and training and participate in varied R&D projects underpinning the operation of the Cancer Centre. You will be expected to work between Radiation Technology within the Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre and Bioengineering services in the main Gartnavel campus within its Equipment Library, participating in a rota system operating within the Radiation Technology. Duties in this area will include specialised support on a variety of specialised radiotherapy equipment, including undertaking routine quality assurance testing outside of clinical working hours. The major component of the post involves repair and maintenance of biomedical equipment, including infusion devices, with the majority split being within bioengineering services. You will be expected to have relevant practical experience in at least one and preferably, both of the above areas, with experience of working within Quality Systems and preparing standard operating procedures. You must be meticulous and have excellent communication and team working skills. Additional training will be provided as necessary. A Degree in Medical Technology or relevant discipline is required for this post together with relevant practical experience and training across a range of radiotherapy equipment and/or medical equipment involving servicing and repair. An HNC/HND in Applied Physics or Electrical and Electronic Engineering will be accepted provided the knowledge, training and experience profile matches the specifications for this post. An individual is required to provide secretarial and administrative support to the Decontamination Services Department. You must have a good general education, have comprehensive secretarial experience with minute taking skills and be proficient in the use of Microsoft computer packages, have excellent organisational skills and the ability to work well under pressure to achieve deadlines, on you own or as part of a team. Effective communication and the ability to interact with NHS staff at all levels is required.
