These posts would be suitable for candidates wishing to widen their experience of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. As one of the largest and busiest units in the UK the range of work encompasses the whole remit of OMFS; adult and paediatric craniofacial surgery, all aspects of cleft care, facial deformity, facial trauma and head and neck oncology. We welcome applications from those who have completed or are nearing completion of their own training programme wishing to gain additional subspecialty experience or those considering a career in OMFS (or other surgical specialties) who want additional exposure to the specialty. For those with an interest in research there are excellent opportunities. These posts have been created to support the introduction of a compliant out-of-hours SpR / ST rota for the West of Scotland, and the successful candidates will participate on the regional on call rota as second on call (1 in 10). Placements may include the associated West of Scotland Maxillofacial Units in Lanarkshire, Ayrshire & Arran or Forth Valley Health Boards. The posts are available for 12 months in the first instance. An excellent opportunity has arisen for a physicist to join the Radiotherapy Physics Team at the Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre, superbly equipped with eleven Varian linear accelerators offering a IMRT/VMAT, IGRT and stereotactic capability with on-site dedicated MRI and PET-CT scanners, and two HDR treatment units. The department is actively developing and expanding its clinical programmes for IMRT, IGRT and HDR clinical services, and is making good progress in increasing clinical throughput in these techniques. Current areas of research interest include development of transit dosimetry algorithms for EPIDs, and the optimisation of MR imaging sequences for treatment planning and the development of 4DCT techniques in lung radiotherapy. The Centre is also aiming to expand its radiotherapy clinical trials portfolio. You will provide senior scientific support and expert advice for the day to day provision of treatment planning with emphasis in brachytherapy, which is based around HDR delivery for intra-cavity and interstitial treatments. You will play a major role in further developing the HDR service with current emphasis in providing an IGRT led approach, centred around MRI planning. There will be excellent opportunities to be closely involved in the ongoing expansion of the well established IMRT/VMAT treatment planning service at the Centre. You should have experience of radiotherapy physics, particularly within advanced planning and/or brachytherapy. Radiotherapy Physics has a vacancy for a Specialist Dosimetrist working within Treatment Planning. This post is based at the new Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre, offering state of the art radiotherapy equipment and services with eleven linear accelerators and a full range of supporting facilities, including IMRT, IGRT, Stereotaxy, CT and MRI Simulators, PET/CT, HDR and prostate seed brachytherapy services. You will participate in the full range of planning activities of the section and develop specialised expertise in a range of treatment planning, working within the larger Dosimetrist and scientific team. You must be meticulous and have excellent communication and team working skills. Duties include supporting the routine treatment planning and in-vivo dosimetry services, with rotation across various site specific planning teams, supporting the implementation of new planning techniques such as VMAT, IMRT, stereotaxy and HDR planning service. As part of a rota, you will also undertake quality control checks on radiotherapy equipment, participate in pre-treatment QA checks and deliver HDR treatments. You should have a BSc in Therapeutic Radiography or a Degree in Medical Technology. An HNC/HND in Applied Physics or Electrical and Electronic Engineering will be accepted provided the knowledge, training and experience profile matches the specifications for this post, which also provides further details of the relevant practical planning experience and training required for each post. Radiotherapy Physics has a vacancy at its entry Clinical Technologist grade within its Radiation Technology section based at the Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre. The Physics Department delivers specialised scientific and technical support in the provision of cancer services based around state of the art radiotherapy equipment and imaging systems with eleven linear accelerators and a full range of supporting facilities. This post involves working within a team of Technologists, who undertake the servicing and repair of the department's radiotherapy systems. Duties will include specialised support on a variety of specialised radiotherapy equipment undertaking routine quality assurance testing, and planned maintenance and repair outside of clinical working hours. You will participate in a shift rota system for which a shift allowance is currently provided. You must be meticulous and have excellent communication and team working skills. You should possess a degree in Medical Technology or other relevant discipline. An HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in Applied Physics or Electrical and Electronic Engineering will be accepted provided the knowledge, training and experience profile matches the requirements of the post. Registration in the Voluntary Register for Clinical Technologists (VRCT) held by the Institute of Physics and Engineering in Medicine (IPEM) is desirable. Knowledge of the underlying technologies used in radiotherapy technology, including x-ray generation and detection, and microwave and electromechanical systems would be desirable along with an understanding of the methodology applied to equipment design, construction, fault diagnosis and repair to component level. You will maintain, monitor and repair a variety of water systems and plant in large healthcare premises specifically in relation to Control of Legionella and other waterborne bacteria. You will be an experienced time served plumber and have knowledge of filtration, storage, pump sets, controls, building management systems, fault finding, testing and calibration. NHS delivers services around the clock and this post requires you to participate in an On Call System with a 30 minute response time to Inverclyde Royal Hospital for emergency calls. You should have a recognised and registered apprenticeship as approved by the Modern Apprenticeship Implementation Group (MAIG) or equivalent and an SVQ3 level qualification in Plumbing Craft. Equivalent qualifications will include a City & Guilds Institute of London Course 596 Plumbing Craft certificate. Other qualifications required are Higher National Certificate in a relevant electrical or combined electrical/mechanical subject. SURGERY AND ANAESTHETICS DIRECTORATE THEATRE DEPARTMENTS SOUTH GLASGOW AND CLYDE BAND 5 STAFF NURSE/OPERATING DEPARTMENT PRACTITIONER £21,176 TO £27,625, 37.5HRS Ref: 23025N, Based at Royal Alexandra Hospital Ref: 23026N Based in South Glasgow – Victoria Infirmary and Southern General Hospital Currently there are several vacancies for Theatre Practitioners within Victoria Infirmary, Southern General Hospital and Royal Alexandra Hospital. All of these are busy units containing multiple theatres and recovery rooms. Each unit provides care for patients undergoing a range of surgical procedures including General Surgery, Ophthalmology, Gynaecology, Urology, ENT and Orthopaedics (both elective and trauma). You will be a Level 1 Registered Nurse on the NMC Register or ODP registered with Health Professions Council. Previous clinical experience within a peri-operative environment is a definite advantage. Both ILS and possession of peri-operative or recovery module in further education are desirable and you must be willing to extend your own knowledge and skills with an interest of working in the peri-operative environment. We offer a professional development programme and excellent team support. You will be required to demonstrate flexibility by working within a service that runs over a 7 day week and will be expected, where necessary, to engage in multi site working within NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde in order to achieve the needs of the service.
