The Diagnostics Directorate seeks a Consultant Paediatric/Perinatal Pathologist based initially at The Royal Hospital for Sick Children, Yorkhill, Glasgow moving to a new built Laboratory at Southern General Hospital Glasgow from April 2012 as part of an integrated Histopathology/cytopathology department for the whole of NHSGGC . You will be one of three consultants providing the Paediatric/Perinatal service. Paediatric services are currently provided from The Royal Hospital for Sick Children, Yorkhill. The current building was opened in 1971 and is the largest paediatric hospital in Scotland and one of the largest in the United Kingdom. It provides a wide range of services to the local population and is the regional paediatric centre for surgical and intensive care referrals. It is the national centre for the management of chronic renal failure, renal transplantation, paediatric bone marrow transplants and paediatric cardiac surgery. There are 303 paediatric beds. The hospital treats over 24,000 inpatients a year, there are 10,000 day cases, 36,000 attendances at Accident and Emergency and 30,000 new outpatient attendances per year. A new children's hospital is currently being built at the Southern General Hospital campus, co-located with maternity and adult services and will open 2014-15. The Primary Care Mental Health Team aim to meet the needs of people with mild to moderate mental health needs within East Renfrewshire Community Health Care Partnership (CHCP), by providing matched care interventions including large didactic groups, provision of self-help material, guided self help, advice clinics, therapeutic groups and individual psychological interventions. The team will also offer training to the wider primary care team in relation to identification and psychological treatment of common mental health difficulties, sign post users to other services, promote health improvement strategies and undertake joint working where appropriate. The Bridges Primary Care Mental Health Team has secured money through the change fund which will be used to improve Mental Health Services for Older Adults. As a member of the Team, you will contribute as a specialist clinician in the planning and delivery of the Cognitive Behavioural Therapy service for older adults with mild to moderate mental health problems. You will also provide specialist education and training, supervision and consultation to other health care professionals and students. Completion of the specialist Post Graduate course in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy which is recognised and accredited by the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Therapy, or eligibility for registration as a Chartered Clinical Psychologist, is essential. Relevant professional training to degree level or equivalent in a core profession which includes basic psychotherapy training i.e. Registered Mental Nurse, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Counselling, Counselling Psychology, Clinical Psychology is also required. You must have significant post qualification experience with evidence of continual professional development related to Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and membership of a relevant professional body (e.g. HPC/RMN/BPS).
