MobiCall – operating principle of an alarm server

In today’s environment, transportation companies have to face a wide range of challenges. The digital transformation of business processes as well as higher safety requirements may exemplify this context. The proper and quickest possible redirection of information is a key element to cope with these requirements.

MobiCall allows an extensive networking between machines, devices, sensors and the staff responsible, in order to directly transfer important process data, criti- cal thresholds and faults. Thanks to MobiCall it is also possible to ensure an effective and reliable mobilisation of first-aiders and rescue teams to safeguard employees in case of emergency. By means of MobiCall internal and external first aid stations are alerted and evacu- ations are immediately initiated. Crisis teams can be set up according to the emergency situation, to provide the affected areas with information in case of all kinds of

major emergency. MobiCall allows to secure buildings, production facilities and the technical infrastructure while preventing damages. The system supports such pro-cesses acting as a central alarm and information plat- form. A great added value of this solution is providing all conceivable ways to trigger the alarm. Standardised and producer-specific interfaces allow a full integration of existing production plants, hazard detection technol- ogy, building automation systems, IT components and process control systems. MobiCall can alert the respon-sible technicians, managers, safety officers, employees and external agencies, both individually and on a group basis. For this purpose all the well-known media are available, which can be interactively controlled through different types of messages – voice, text, picture and video.

ESCALATION

Event / event inputAn event can be triggered either automatically by a subsystem (FAS, BMS, BPCS, etc.) or manually by the user (telephone, client PC, web, etc.).

Report and controlMobiCall records detailed data about the entire alerting process. The alarm report can be sent auto-matically or retrieved at any time through the alarm centre. As an option, emergency calls and conferen-ces can also be recorded.

CommunicationAccording to the emergency plan and time schedule, MobiCall signals via multi-media the event to a specific group of people such as external and internal extensions, smartphones, client PCs and IP loud- speakers.

Acknowledgement and escalationTo guarantee the maximum safety, the alarm should be acknowledged by a predefined number of recipi- ents. If they cannot be reached, the system can start an alarm escalation to inform other users.

MobiCall provides a better protection for your employees and a quick reactivity to technical and operational alarms. Thus allowing to avoid any kind of interference, machine failure, production loss and downtime. The system pro- vides a time- and calendar-dependent information distri-bution, which enables a flexible mapping of availability lists and rosters. The information transfer occurs on a skill-based, prioritised and a simultaneous or sequential way, depending on the alarm configuration. MobiCall also supports internal watchdog monitoring, automatic back-ups as well as comprehensive reporting and statistical functions.

All scenarios can be configured and managed through the MobiCall-App, both in a centralised and decentralised way. The web-based management tool features an inno-vative “drag-and-drop” configurator. This solution pro-vides IT administrators and users responsible for groups as well as for subject areas with an intuitive and clearly structured tool to configure personal data and alarm parameters. The multi-client capability offers to different areas the opportunity to autonomously administer their own alarm management by means of differentiated ac-cess rights. The connection of external databases is also possible, thus allowing the use of existing master data for the automatic import, which consequently reduces the administrative load.

MobiCall is available in two versions. MobiBBox is the smart “plug & use” solution installed on a compact indus-trial PC with an integrated web server (appliance). This solution is preferred for standard requirements in small and medium-sized businesses. MobiCall create the pow-erful platform for large and complex requirements using server hardware or virtual environments.

As a professional safety solution, MobiCall can also be operated in a redundant set-up with increased perfor- mance and high reliability. MobiCall geo-clustering en-ables redundancy and functional monitoring in several locations.

In emergency situations (e.g. fire alarms or disaster alerts) an immediate mass alerting is necessary. With MobiCall the existing infrastructure can be used so that existing telephones and computers are available to transmit an acoustic or optical alarm signalling. IP-loud-speakers or central PA systems can be connected in order to play back the proper announcement (e.g. in corridors). These functions permit a fast evacuation of

buildings. MobiCall can also be used as a central alarm platform to manage critical situations. The system ensures a fast information supply thanks to simultaneous alerts. Moreover, the co-ordination between acting people is supported by means of automatic teleconferences. The system provides assistance for health emergencies, tak-ing into account the legal and professional association`s rules linked to first-aiders emergency calls.

Personal protection in both internal and external functions

In the past years, threats and infringements have con-stantly increased. To be able to quickly help employees in critical situations, MobiCall allows triggering the so-called masked “silent alarms” in a flexible way using the available PC and communication infrastructure. All alarms are centrally processed with rapidity and reliabil- ity. Emergency teams are informed via phone calls or

PC pop-up messages. Automatic teleconferences are a valid support to estimate the situation and to define the proper assistance measures. MobiCall can also be used to safeguard single workers. Hence, the integration of DECT, WiFi, GSM and remote emergency devices ensures a reliable employees protection.

Starting from the current version, MobiCall supports Low-Power Wide-Area Network based protocols, such as LoRa, SigFox or NB-IoT. Thanks to these technol- ogies it is possible to cheaply and quickly integrate any sensor type. A major advantage of this technology is that no GSM, WiFi or Ethernet infrastructure is neces-sary to let the sensors run. Due to the battery-operated system, no connection to the mains is needed. There- fore, allocated emergency buttons, utility meters, or temperature and level sensors can among others sim-ply be connected to a central MobiCall device.

Page 7: Unified Event Communication

Physical security and management

MobiCall can be operated as a central Physical Security Information Management (PSIM) platform. Local systems, such as burglary control panels, access controls, PA system alarm centre, video surveillance systems, paging stations, intercoms or central building control systems can be recorded and visualised on a central customised

user interface. Thanks to all the gathered information, the user is able to get a comprehensive overview and to take the necessary steps, which include the availability alert as well as the crisis teams’ implementation and the integration of an info hotline.

Control centres and hazard management

• Central representation and compression of video and data sources to be monitored

• Call-up of crisis teams• Optional alerting regarding availability• Live monitoring of alarm and information distributions• Alerting according to the presence status• On-call schedules deposit• Automatic import of alarm plans• Integrated voice recording• Start of emergency conferences• Geo-redundant components design• Integration of digital radio and smartphones clients

MobiCall, with its variety of interfaces for subsystems, such as process control and visualization systems, allows the building automation and ICT components monitoring in real time. When faults or critical thresholds occur, the detailed alarm information is automatically conveyed through the cross-platform to a defi ned group

of people. The integrated task management is a major advantage of this solution, ensuring faults classifi cation and tracking. The entire process, starting from the alarm triggering up to the troubleshooting and including the usual SLA times, can be monitored and visualized.

Service management and process optimization

An efficient employment of all means of communication is a crucial cost and quality factor for an energy supplier. By means of MobiCall all existing systems, such as the network control technology, the telephone system, mobile devices as well as scheduling and administration systems can be linked together. As a consequence, the

workflow can be optimized, thus allowing to sink the costs and to enhance the service quality. Here the task management module plays a key role, since it supports all activities concerning cross-media planning, adminis-tration, monitoring and execution of different tasks.

Service call

• Cross-media input of service tasks concerning faults, maintenance etc.

• Integration of battery-operated sensors for the automated transmission of status messages (e.g. fluid levels)

• Native-App suitable for Android and iOS devices• Skill-based tasks transmission (e.g. to the team responsible

for gas or electricity)• Login and logout functions for employees• VIP functionality to prioritize tasks• Multi-client capable web portal for SLA monitoring and

evaluation of service quality
