    How To Pray Powerful Prayers

I KNOW a lot of people who tell God

    their problems.

When you do that, you release your

stress and thats a great thing.

But thats not enough. It shouldnt

end there. If you end there, you may feel

    comforted but not commissioned.

How do you do that? When you pray,

dont just tell God your problems but tell

Him ofHis promises as well. When you do

that, youre lifting your mind from present

reality to future reality. Like David, youre

    encouraging yourself in the Lord.

Today, as we end our phenomenal

series, Guaranteed, I pray you receive a new

paradigm on how to live life. Youll no longer

see your daily life from the perspective of

your problems but from the position of His

promises. And thats a great shift that will

    impact you forever.

Be very encouraged by God at our

    Feast today.

    May your dreams come true,

    BO SANCHEZ

PS. Next week, youll learn how to receive

holy, healthy, and happy wealth! Watch for it.

    LAST WEEK

LAST Sundays Gospel takenfrom Luke 2:41-52 talksabout Jesus who, as a young

boy, went with his parentsto Jerusalem to attend theFeast of the Passover. Jesusis left behind in the temple. His parents look for Him tono avail, so they decide toreturn to Jerusalem. After threedays, they nd Him preachingamong the elders at the temple.

Fr. Titus Mananzan,SVD, began his homily bytelling the story of a young

boy who loves his pet dogvery much. While playing inthe forest, the boy sees a fairywho, impressed by the boysaffection for his dog, tells the

boy to make a wish and shell

grant it. The boy wishes thathed also be a dog.

Fr. Titus said just asthe boy wanted to becomethe creature he loved, Godalso willed to become man

because He wanted to becomeone with us. As man, Jesusalways remained obedient toGod and his parents. ThoughHe had many struggles andtemptations, He followed thewill of the Father: that He dieson the Cross. God alwayswills the best for us, and our

obedience is a sign of lovefor Him.

As we celebrate theFeast of the Santo Nino, Fr.Titus said that we need toremember the qualities of achild. Matthew 18:3 saysUnless you turn and becomelike children, you will neverenter the kingdom of God.Fr. Titus said let us emulatethe childs sense of wonder, forgiveness, trust, dependence, and humility.

    Be Like a Cild

    Signicance

    BRO. BO SANCHEZ started

    Talk#3: Signifcnc with a

    verse from Mark 8:36 that

    says, Wh dos i prof

man if he gains the whole

world but loses his soul? He

said that we need to pursue

success but we cannot stop at

    merely becoming successful.

    We must aim for signicance

which is the highest form of

success. To be signicant is to

be able to inuence or impact

    others life, and ask nothing

    in return.

    Sharing a personal

    experience, Bro. Bo recalled

a time when he hiked for four

    hours without bringing water

with him to quench his thirst.

He only had a candy in his

pocket which he opted to take,

    thinking that it would make

him feel better. It did but

only for two minutes. He felt

    worse afterwards, realizing

    the bad effect of sugar

    on thirst.

    Similarly, success is

    beautiful and wonderful. You

can have all the power and

pleasure in the world but they

    will never satisfy unless, you

    give yourself to others.

    Bro. Bo also told the

story of a wealthy man who

calls up his friend and tells

him that he is feeling awful

that day. The man buys a new

    luxury car worth P9 million,

in addition to a number of

    other luxury cars that he

already owns. At the end of

the day, he calls the same

friend to tell him that he still

    feels sad and awful.

    The story tells us that

    no matter how much success

and wealth we may have in

life, we will not be happy

    unless we share our success

    with others. We should ask

God to show us the path

    to higher success which

    is signicance.

    Success versus Signicance

    Bro. Bo pointed out that

    success is achieving ones

    dreams, whilesignifcnc

    is helping others achieve

    their dreams.

    The reason we need to

    achieve success is to help

    others achieve success. We

do not need to be completely

    successful. We can help other

    people achieve their dreams

one step at a time. Even if we

    REFLECTIONS

I FIRST attended the Feastwith my classmates RemyLingon and Anna MelissaFlores on January 20, 2013.I heard about the Feast fromone of my professors whooften talked about the prayergathering in class tellingus stories and enlighteningus about the talks and theirsignicance in her life, andadvising us to apply them toour own. She encouraged usto attend the Feast, so weeventually did.

Weve always heard ofthe saying, All the wealth canmake you a lonely person.

I never imagined thesaying to be true. I mean Ialways thought that if yourea wealthy person, everybodyaround you would want toknow you or be your friend. But I was wrong.

Once, I dreamt ofhaving a lucrative job. Idreamt of owning a houseand lot, fancy car, high techgadgets, the works.

Then I heard the talkof Bro. Bo on Signifcnc,

the last of the series onGuaranteed. As I listenedto Bro. Bo, I realized Iwas heading toward a lifewithout signicance, a life ofselshness. I also imaginedthe successful ME and yet Ilet everyone out of it.

Bro. Bo asked whowanted to live a life of successwith signicance. This didnot ring a bell for me. Iwas confused since I neverheard that before and as heexplained, I got a clearer

picture: its about aiming fora success so that you can helpothers be a success too.

I then pondered onmy relationship with myloved ones-- my dad, mom,and most especially myyounger brother.

Way back when we wereyounger, we regularly foughtabout just everything, ridiculedeach other even in front ofother people. We went to thesame school but when wesaw each other in the hallway, its as if we were strangers.I didnt bother to greet him.

There was even a time whenpeople didnt know I had abrother since I didnt talkmuch about him.

Now, I am 20 years old,and my brother is 16.

I am now old enough torealize my mistakes. I did notgive any signicance to theword ate to him and to this dayit makes me teary to realize thetime I have wasted.

After I heard Bro. Bostalk, Ive resolved to includemy brother in my success.

All I dream of now, afterhearing the talk, is how I canhelp my brother fulll his

dreams. Like he wishes to goto college in the PhilippinesI will do all I can to

support him-- even if it meansworking my head off forhis future.

A PromiseBy AThIRA ShYNNE NANDA KumAR

AT FEAST PICC, from le: Remy,Anna Melissa, and Athira

are still on step number one,

we can help those in step zero.

We can teach others what we

    already learned which others

    still have not.

    Bro. Bo said signicance

is not saying go there but

    come here. We cannot help

others with something wehave not yet achieved. We

    can turn around and help

    others with whatever we

    already have.

    Luke 12:16-21 talks

about the parable of the rich

    fool who produces plentiful

    crops but does not have

    enough storage. He decides to

tear down his barns to build a

larger one where he can store

all his grains and goods that

will last for many years so he

can just relax, eat, drink, and

be merry. But God tells him

that his life will be taken from

    him that very night. Who

    then will benet from the

    riches he means to store

    for himself?

    Bro. Bo said there are

three ways to live life on

    planet Earth:

    1. A life of sccess is

lling your barn so that you

    can turn around, train, and

    help other people.

    2. A life of selshness is

    lling your barn and nothing

    more. This will lead to

    utter misery.

    3. A life of signicance

    is helping others ll their

barns. It does not have to be

in a grand manner, but even

in simple acts that can impact

    others life.

    Bro. Bo said let us

ask God to help us bless

    the world, edify, and equip

    another human being. Then,

    we will achieve not only

    success but signicance for

    ourself and for others.

mINISTRIESATTENTION, Feast attendees! Here are your leaders, Armedand Dangerous!

Wait, before you take cover, what just recentlyhappened was Leaders Assembly of the Light of JesusFamily at the Villamor Air Force Gym last January 19.

The meeting prepared our 1,700 leaders for theirbig tasks in 2013 to tend the unchurched, the poor, andthe downtrodden.

And to meet their goal, our leaders are armed-- withunconditional love, like Gods love-- which makes themreally dangerous to anyone and any other obstacle to theirmission. For Gods love conquers all.

Thats how Bro. Bo explained the theme of theassembly:Armed and Dangerous!

The assemblys special guest, retired Lt. General OscarH. Rabena, the 31st Commanding General of the PhilippineAir Force, who is a regular Feast attendee, discussedthe best weapons for leaders in an interview withBro. Randy Borromeo.

The best weapons, Lt. Gen. Rabena said, are three:faith, values, and relationship. He also shared the corevalues of the Air Force which Feast leaders may welladopt: INSTEP-- Integrity, Service, Teamwork, Excellence, and Professionalism.

The couples keep in touch by sendingone another inspirational messages andchecking on them through their Facebookgroup. They often hang out, chatting andeating, celebrating birthdays, weddinganniversaries, even town estas. They holdCG Mini-lympics.

The CG once went on an outreachmission to Tahanan ng Pagmamahal, the Feast partner beneciary taking careof orphans, and Grace To Be Born, theFeast partner beneciary that gives shelterto unwed pregnant women. I GRABBED the last few gifts I neededand lined up at the nearest counter. I openedmy wallet to check how much cash I had.Ooops...the only bill I saw was the one Iallocated for my tithe.

Christmas was just around the corner. The mall was bursting at its seams with

last-minute shoppers. I just had to buy thosegifts. I didnt have a credit card. I must goto the nearest ATM machine to withdrawmoney. But I was just half a foot away fromthe cashier. I couldnt dare leave the linewhich was already snaking way beyondthe barriers.

So I whispered to God, Lord, Illborrow the tithe, ha? Ill give it back laterwhen I withdraw cash from the ATM.

I kind of felt guilty borrowing fromGod. But it was already my turn to pay, andthe cashier was already like, Maam, do youhave Advantage card, po?

I did have the Advantage card-- you

know, those cards given to loyal customerswhich earn points that are as good as cash.

Promptly, I shed out my Advantagecard from my wallet and handed it to thecashier. She swiped the card and said,Maam, you have enough number of pointsto purchase your items. Would you want touse them now?

    Whoa?

The cashier politely repeated whatshe said.

Yup, okay. Use my points!I wanted to laugh as I stepped out of the

department store. What was I thinking? Ofcourse, God didnt want me to use His moneyelsewhere. God gave me points as His rewardfor me since He knew I was committed in mytithing, and far away ATMs cannot disruptthat. I didnt even have to use my own cash.

Now I know God makes us earn pointswith Him, too!
