Rev. Gregor Gorsic, Pastor (815) 886-4165 ext. 317
My dear family of St. Andrew the Apostle! It’s hard to believe but it’s finally here, and so quickly! My last official Pastor’s Page and bulletin article as Pastor of St. Andrew the Apostle Parish! On this Father’s Day, what are my last printed words to you going to be? What should I mention?.... And the word the Lord gave to me is … links! Not golf links, but links to good resources that will help you grow in knowledge and love of our beautiful Catholic faith! If ongoing faith formation is not part of your life, DO IT! MAKE IT SO! First of all, OUR TWO BEAUTIFUL KIOSKS outside the entryways of the church and hall! They are chockful of wonderful reading, listening, meditating material on all kinds of real important, real-time, and just plain REAL topics of our day, of our family lives, of our cultural milieu we’re living in — just simply wonderful stuff! So PLEASE don’t just walk by as if it’s become part of the ignored furniture, but ENGAGE the CD’s, DVD’s, book, pamphlets — ENGAGE YOUR FAITH! And SHARE IT! TALK ABOUT IT! LOVE IT! ENJOY IT! On our website (and app, too!) there are marvelous resources to connect to “real-time Catholic faith” for you, your siblings, your children, grandchildren, nephews, and nieces… WORD ON FIRE, for example, with Bishop Robert Barron, or CathocLink articles, like “How to Hear God When (You Think) He is Being Silent” … There seems to be a huge stereotype about the way that God speaks to us…. Or this article: “This 11-Year-Old Thinks He Can Prove Hawking’s Theory Wrong…And Much Of The Internet Agrees” … Does God exist? It’s a question every person should ask themselves. Many scientists and theologians seek to provide the answers... Or another article: “God Lets Himself Be Eaten! What the Feast of Corpus Christi Really Means” ...Meditation for the Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ …. Or here’s another link: “This Movie Changed How I Think About Our Blessed Mother” … Looking back, I only have one regret from our wedding. The day was filled with joy, family, friends, a beautiful…. Or yet another CatholicLink article entitled “50 Years Ago A Pope Predicted That Because Of Birth Control These Things Would Happen” … In July of 1968, fifty years ago, Pope Paul VI issued his watershed encyclical condemning birth control, Humanae Vitae. Its... And that’s just a light touch of the OUTSTANDING and numerous resources through Catholic Link. Then also consider checking out our U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops website — it is truly just AWESOME! Just go to usccb.org. Or go global at the Vatican website: vatican.va. Or how about try couragerc.org, which is a “ministry to men and women who experience same-sex attractions and those who love them.” Or try roadtopurity.com, to learn about authentic chastity as well as the emotional and biological components of pornography addiction, and also ftnd.org (Fight the New Drug). For good one-on-one counseling, try catholictherapists.com as a starting place for you or a loved one experiencing the myriad of issues that surround us and that are internal to us as a culture. And let me conclude with one last favorite since I’m running out of space: and that’s Catholic Answers at catholic.com. Keep loving your Catholic faith, which is to say, keep loving Jesus, His Mother Mary, and the beautiful Catholic family we are privileged to call our own! Again, gratitude fills my heart as I think of the twelve years God has given me to be here with you at St. Andrew’s. As we prepare for the upcoming transition, I ask you, my family of St. Andrew the Apostle, to keep me close to your heart in your prayers for safe travels during my time of sabbatical, a time of refreshment, light, and peace, and a safe return, refreshed for the next chapter of my call to follow Jesus, the Bridegroom, and to serve Him and His Bride, the Church, as His priest and the friend of His Heart! You are, and will be, in my prayers...always!!! In the loving Hearts of Jesus and Mary, Fr. Gregor

The Society of St. Vincent DePaul St. Andrew the Apostle Conference neighbor helping neighbor… Our helpline 815-886-4165 ext. 304
All calls are confidential with callbacks within 24 hours.
In the Gospel Jesus says: “This is how it is with the reign of God. A man scatters seed on the ground. He goes to bed and gets up day after day. Through it all the seed sprouts and grows without his knowing how it happens.” The seeds of hope that you sow by doing good deeds for your family, neighbors, co-workers and the poor grow graces which enrich your life and lives of others through your example—leading to joyful feelings and eternal happiness with our Savior. Live every day to it’s fullest as God is beside you dispensing his love. Do you have a few hours a month to spread joy and hope? Consider joining our St. Vincent de Paul Conference here at St. Andrew as we need team members. Please call our helpline 815-886- 4165 Ext. 304.

SECOND COLLECTION FUND FOR DIOCESAN INFIRMED AND ELDERLY PRIESTS
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
This year, Father’s Day is celebrated on June 17. There will be a special collection taken at Masses on June 16-17 to care for our infirmed and senior priests. The
Fund for Diocesan Infirmed and Elderly Priests is a special way for the people of the Diocese of Joliet to express their concern for the welfare of those who have dedicated their lives in service to our pastoral care.
The money in this fund goes toward priests who need help with extraordinary medical expenses or suffer a catastrophic illness. It also provides for the care of the St. John Vianney Villa, home to several senior priests in the Diocese of Joliet.
Prayerfully consider making a donation to help our aged and sick priests as an expression of appreciation for all they have done in exemplifying Christ’s mercy, through their spiritual guidance and celebration of the sacraments.
On behalf of all the active and senior priests of the diocese, I am grateful for your prayers and for your generous support of the Father’s Day Collection for our aged and infirm diocesan priests. Please be assured of my prayers for you. Most Reverend R. Daniel Conlon Bishop of Joliet

St. Andrew the Apostle We Care Food Pantry
The St. Andrew We Care Food Pantry is open every Wednesday from 10:00 am. until 12:30 p.m. for any eligible family in Romeoville in need of food assistance.
Our pantry is open only to Romeoville residents so proof of residency and an ID must be shown upon sign-in each week. If you are a parishioner of St. Andrew and you find yourself in need of food assistance, you are more than welcome to come to the We Care Food Pantry also. Proof of residency is a utility bill with your name and address on it plus your Driver’s License or State of Illinois ID. That must be brought in each time you come for food assistance.
The Pantry is located at 219 Arlington. For further information, please contact Shirley Grzenia at (630) 945-1317. This is the new phone number to call for food pantry inquiries and assistance. Thank you and God Bless. Crisis Pregnancy Waterleaf 1-888-4-HOPE-4-1 Birthright 1-800-550-4900
