Annual Candlelight Tour at Historic Schuyler HouseSCHUYLERVILLE – Saratoga National Historical Park announces that the annual Candlelight Tour of the General Philip Schuyler House, located just south of Schuylerville on Route 4, will be held on Saturday, October 13 from 6-9pm. Old Saratoga Historical Association hosts the event and in addition to providing light refreshments, their members join park staff and volunteers to guide visitors through the candle-lit atmosphere of General Schuyler’s 1777 country house. As the autumn evenings can be chilly or wet, please dress for the weather. It is also recommended that visitors bring a flashlight for the walk back to their cars. First Night Saratoga Seeks VolunteersSARATOGA – Saratoga Arts is seeking volunteers to assist in overseeing First Night Saratoga, the region’s largest New Year’s Eve celebration of the arts and community. Volunteers will serve as hosts and hostesses in one of over 30 venues, for a chosen 3-hour shift between the hours of 6pm and 11:40pm. New volunteers are required to attend a one-hour training session on one evening in December. All volunteers receive a free First Night Sarato-ga admission button and a First Night poster. Special “early bird” incentives have been added for those who sign up before November or for later shifts. Lions Club to Hold 15th Annual Golf Outing SARATOGA SPRINGS/WILTON – The 15th Annual Saratoga Springs Li-ons Club Golf Tournament will be held on Friday, October 5, at McGregor Links Country Club in Wilton. The four-person scramble event is open to the public and proceeds benefit the many programs and services provided to the community through the Saratoga Springs Lions Club. The event costs $115 for a single player or $440 for a foursome with participants able to enjoy 18 holes of golf with cart, lunch, dinner, an awards ceremony and prize give-aways as part of the event. The Way We Were Car ShowBALLSTON SPA – The Ballston Spa Business & Professional Association has announced plans for the tenth annual “The Way We Were” Car Show to be held Sunday, October 7, from 9am-4pm on Front Street in Historic Ballston Spa. The Mohawk Hudson Humane Society’s “Empties For Animals” campaign helps support the mission of the organization, includ-ing sheltering, adoption, education, advocacy and the preven-tion of cruelty to animals. This year’s goal is to raise $125,000, in honor of the Society’s 125th Anniversary. To reach the goal, the Goldstein Auto Group will need to collect more than 1,500,000 cans and bottles. The 2012 "Empties For Animals” campaign has raised over $46,000 during the first half of this year, an increase of $12,000 or 34% over the same period last year. The 2011 campaign raised a total

Monies from the program were used to benefit the more than 6,500 animals cared for by the Society in 2011. “We are very pleased to continue our partnership with the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society and support the 2012 “Empties For Animals” campaign.
