1.2 General Cautions The following cautions are considered to be generic for all phone models and will not be repeated in the Disassembly, Replacements and Reassembly sections: SWITCH OFF THE PHONE AND REMOVE ANY MEMORY STICK BEFORE THE START OF THE DISASSEMBLY! KEEP ALL CONTACT SURFACES CLEAN! BE CAREFUL WHEN USING TOOLS LIKE THE DENTIST HOOK, TWEEZERS, OPENING TOOLS, GUITAR PICK ETC.

TO AVOID SCRATCHES OR DAMAGES TO THE EXTERIOR AND INTERIOR PARTS OF THE PHONE! BE CAREFUL NOT TO DAMAGE ANY CONTACT SPRINGS! REMEMBER TO REMOVE THE PROTECTION FOILS ON NEW PARTS SUCH AS THE FRONT COVER AND LCD! NEVER TOUCH THE DISPLAY GLASS! USE AIR BLOW EQUIPMENT TO KEEP THE FRONT WINDOW AND DISPLAY MODULE DUST FREE!

1.3 Adhesives Use a dentist hook and/or the tweezers to remove old adhesives. Clean the surface with isopropyl alcohol before attaching new adhesives.

2 Disassembly When you are going to replace a part being listed in Replacements, the instruction of that section usually begins by directing you to this Disassembly section with a specification of the instructions you have to carry out in order to disassemble the phone as far as needed before returning to Replacements for the actual replacement.

2.1.1 Battery Cover Assembly & Battery

Insert and press the Front Opening Tool down to release the Battery Cover Assembly,

and remove the Battery Cover Assembly.

Insert and press the Front Opening Tool down to release the Battery,

and remove the Battery.

2.1.2 Screw Cover Coated

Slide the Sliding Lens Cover to its end position.

Use the Dentist Hook to remove one of the Screw Cover Coated,

and do the same on the opposite side. THE TWO SCREW COVER COATED MUST BE SCRAPPED, CANNOT BE REUSED!

2.1.3 Co-Brand Label

Use the Dentist Hook to release and remove the Co-Brand Label. THE CO-BRAND LABEL MUST BE SCRAPPED, CANNOT BE REUSED!

2.1.4 Antenna Cover Assembly

Use torx bit no. 6 to remove these two 1,6 x 6,1 screws. THE TWO 1,6 X 6,1 SCREWS MUST BE SCRAPPED, CANNOT BE REUSED!

Use the PH00 bit to remove this Flat Head Screw,

and the second one on the opposite side. THE TWO SCREWS MUST BE SCRAPPED, CANNOT BE REUSED!

Insert the Guitar Pick as shown in picture to unlatch the Antenna Cover Assembly at this side,

Antenna Cover Assembly continued

and do the same on the opposite side.

Use a Dentist Hook to release the Antenna Cover Assembly at both ends on this side,

and do the same on the opposite side.

Remove the Antenna Cover Assembly.

NOTE!!! The below information regarding the Antenna Cover Assembly is ONLY for units that are produced before 09w10.

Remove the current gasket and mesh using a scalpel or similar tool. Be careful not to damage the sealing surface on the Antenna Cover.

The protrusion in the plastic shows the placement area for the gasket.

Assemble the new gasket (1203-5255:2) and mesh on the Antenna Cover. Be careful not to cover the holes with the gasket.

Press the gasket hard for 3 seconds to make sure the adhesive is activated.

Assemble the grounding gasket (1210-8839:2) using a tweezers.

The gasket should be aligned against the screw boss and metal edge (red).

Assemble a grounding gasket also on the opposite side of the Antenna Cover by repeat the above assemble steps.

2.1.5 Speakerbox Assembly

Use the Front Opening Tool to disconnect the BtB connector.

Use the Front Opening Tool to release the Speakerbox Assembly on this side,

and on the opposite side.

Remove the Speakerbox Assembly.

2.1.6 PBA incl. Card Reader Assembly

Use the Front Opening Tool to release the PBA here.

Raise the PBA as far as it goes and disconnect the Keyboard FPC Assembly BtB connector using the Front Opening Tool.

Use the Front Opening Tool to disconnect the LCD FPC connector.

Turn the PBA upside/down and unlock the ZIF connector by opening the lock with the Front Opening Tool.

PBA incl. Card Reader Assembly continued

Use the Flex Film Assembly Tool to pull the FPC out of the ZIF connector.

Remove the PBA.

2.1.7 Card Reader Assembly

Use the Front Opening Tool to disconnect this BtB connector which is located on the PBA.

Use the Front Opening Tool to separate the Card Reader Assembly from the PBA.

Remove the Card Reader Assembly.

2.1.8 Sliding Lens Cover

There are four Plastic Slider Snap as indicated by the arrows in the picture.

Use the Dentist Hook and push all four Plastic Slider Snap down to unsnap them.

Use the Dentist Hook to release them and to have them removed. THE FOUR PLASTIC SLIDER SNAP MUST BE SCRAPPED, CANNOT BE REUSED!

Use the Front Opening Tool to unsnap the Sliding Lens Cover on this side,

Use the Flex Film Assembly Tool to separate the Keyboard from the Dome Foil,

and remove the Keyboard.

2.1.11 Dome Foil

Use the Flex film Assembly Tool to separate the Dome Foil from the Keyboard FPC Assembly,

and then have it removed. THE DOME FOIL MUST BE SCRAPPED, CANNOT BE REUSED!

2.1.12 Keyboard FPC Assembly

Use an ESD Tweezer to separate the Gasket for Keyboard BtB from the Keyboard FPC Assembly. THE GASKET FOR KEYBOARD BTB MUST BE SCRAPPED, CANNOT BE REUSED!

Use the ESD Tweezers to remove the Foil Adhesive Double Side 0.0 mm Adhesive Keyboard Flex. THE FOIL ADHESIVE DOUBLE SIDE 0.0 MM ADHESIVE KEYBOARD FLEX MUST BE SCRAPPED, CANNOT BE REUSED!

Use the Front Opening Tool, or the ESD Tweezers, to unlock the ZIF connector.

Use a Front Opening Tool, or the ESD Tweezers, to release the Keyboard FPC Assembly from the Frame Assy.

Keyboard FPC Assembly continued

Pull the Keyboard FPC Assembly, in the direction of the arrow, to disconnect the ZIF connector.

Use the Flex Film Assembly Tool to release the Keyboard FPC Assembly.

Remove the Keyboard FPC Assembly. THE KEYBOARD FPC ASSEMBLY MUST BE SCRAPPED, CANNOT BE REUSED!

3.16 Top Front Outer Panel Assy

REMOVAL Slide the lens cover to its open position (1). Insert the Dentist Hook underneath the Top Front Outer Panel Assy (2) and then have the panel removed by using the tweezers or your fingers. BE CAREFUL NOT TO CAUSE SCRATCHES ON THE FRAME ASSY WITH THE DENTIST HOOK.

INSTALLATION Position the new Top Front Outer Panel Assy so that it fits perfectly in the cavity of the Frame Assy and then press with your fingers to have it securely attached.

3.17 Carrier Top Front Inner Panel Assy

REMOVAL Follow the 2.1.1 2.1.6 & 2.1.8 - 2.1.9 Disassembly instructions! Release the Carrier Top Front Inner Panel Assy from the Frame Assy at one of the top corners using your fingers or the Dentist Hook and then carefully pull to have the panel removed.

INSTALLATION Position the new Carrier Top Front Inner Panel Assy so that it fits perfectly in the cavity of the Frame Assy and then press with your fingers to have it securely attached. Follow the 4.1.4 4.1.5 & 4.1.7 - 4.1.12 Reassembly instructions!

3.18 Ear Speaker

REMOVAL Follow the 2.1.1 2.1.6 & 2.1.8 - 2.1.9 Disassembly instructions! Insert the Dentist Hook underneath the Ear Speaker to loosen it from the Frame Assy and remove the Ear Speaker using the tweezers.

INSTALLATION Use the tweezers to position the new Ear Speaker in the Frame Assy and then press with the tweezers, without touching the contacts, to have it securely attached. Follow the 4.1.4 4.1.5 & 4.1.7 - 4.1.12 Reassembly instructions!

3.19 5MP Camera & Cushion

REMOVAL Follow the 2.1.1 2.1.6 & 2.1.8 - 2.1.9 Disassembly instructions! Turn the Top Rear Inner Panel Assy upside/down and disconnect the BtB connector by using the Front Open Tool.

Insert the Front Open Tool between the two FPC parts,

and separate them.

Release the 5MP Camera by bending the metal holder.

5MP Camera & Cushion continued

THE 5MP CAMERA IS ATTACHED WITH GLUE! Insert the Front Opening Tool (1) underneath the 5MP Camera to raise it up (2).

Release and raise the FPC part (1) to make room for the removal of the 5MP Camera. Gently pull (2), using the Flex Film Assembly Tool, to have the 5MP Camera released and removed.

INSTALLATION The Top Rear Inner Panel Assy should now like this.

Optional Instruction In case the Cushion for the QCIF VGA Camera needs to be exchanged, that can be done at this stage: Remove the old Cushion. Insert a new Cushion as shown in picture.

5MP Camera continued Insert the new 5MP Cameras BtB connector underneath the FPC (1) and slide it gently until the connector appears as shown in picture (2). Gently press (3) the 5MP Camera to the bottom of the Top Rear Inner Panel Assy.

Bend the metal holder back to its original position to secure the position of the 5MP Camera.

Connect these BtB connectors,

3.20 Qcif VGA Camera & Camera Gasket

REMOVAL Follow the 2.1.1 2.1.6 & 2.1.8 2.1.9 Disassembly instructions! Turn the Top Rear Inner Panel Assy upside/down.

Insert the Camera Tool into the Camera Socket (1) as far as it goes in order to release the Qcif VGA Camera from the Camera Socket. Remove the Camera Tool (2) and remove the Camera by lifting straight up (3) using your fingers or the tweezers.

INSTALLATION Place the Camera into the Socket so that the Cameras guiding peg (1) coincides with the cavity (2) of the Socket. Press with your finger, without touching the lens, and make sure that the Camera has reached the bottom of the Socket.

3.21 Shield Can Lid BB 1 & Conductive Gaskets

REMOVAL Follow the 2.1.1 2.1.7 Disassembly instructions! Use the Dentist Hook to release the Shield Can Lid BB 1from the Shield Can Fence and then remove it. THE SHIELD CAN LID BB 1MUST BE SCRAPPED, CANNOT BE REUSED!

INSTALLATION Position the new Shield Can Lid BB 1over the Shield Can Fence and press gently with your fingers until it is properly attached on all sides.

Two kinds of new conductive gaskets have to be attached to the Shield Can Lid BB 1as shown in this picture: two Conductive Gaskets at locations 1 one Conductive Gasket, Grey at location 2 Follow the 4.1.6 4.1.12 Reassembly instructions!

3.22 Shield Can Lid BB 2

REMOVAL Follow the 2.1.1 2.1.6 Disassembly instructions! Use the Dentist Hook to release the Shield Can Lid BB 2 from the Shield Can Fence and then remove it. THE SHIELD CAN LID BB 2 MUST BE SCRAPPED, CANNOT BE REUSED!

INSTALLATION Position the new Shield Can Lid BB 2 over the Shield Can Fence and press gently with your fingers until it is properly attached on all sides. Follow the 4.1.7 4.1.12 Reassembly instructions!

3.23 MComp Sheet Metal

REMOVAL Follow the 2.1.1 2.1.6 Disassembly instructions! Unsnap four hooks by using the Dentist Hook and remove the MComp Sheet Metal from the Shield Can Lid.

INSTALLATION Position the MComp Sheet Metal and snap it onto the Shield Can Lid using the four hooks. Follow the 4.1.6 4.1.12 Reassembly instructions!

3.24 BT Antenna

REMOVAL Follow the 2.1.1 2.1.6 Disassembly instructions! Use the Dentist Hook to remove the BT Antenna.

INSTALLATION Position the new BT Antenna carefully and then attach it to the Frame Assy. Follow the 4.1.7 4.1.12 Reassembly instructions!

3.25 Side Keys

REMOVAL Follow the 2.1.1 2.1.6 Disassembly instructions! Unhook the Side Keys from the Frame Assy at both ends by using the Dentist Hook and remove the keys with the help of the tweezers.

INSTALLATION Use the tweezers to position and attach the new Side Keys to the hooks at both ends. Follow the 4.1.7 4.1.12 Reassembly instructions!

3.26 MComp Spring Metal pogo spring

REMOVAL Follow the 2.1.1 2.1.6 & 2.1.8 - 2.1.9 Disassembly instructions! There are two MComp Spring Metal pogo spring at the top of the Frame Assy, located here,

and here.

Remove the MComp Spring Metal pogo spring by pressing with the tweezers from the inside of the Frame Assy.

INSTALLATION Insert new MComp Spring Metal pogo spring from the outside of the Frame Assy and push with the tweezers as far as it goes. Follow the 4.1.4 4.1.5 & 4.1.7 4.1.12 Reassembly instructions!

3.27 Liquid Intrusion Indicators

INSPECTION Follow the 2.1.1 2.1.6 Disassembly instructions! The Liquid Intrusion Indicator is positioned according to following pictures. IF THIS LIQUID INTRUSION INDICATOR IS MISSING PLACE A NEW ONE AT EXACTLY AT THIS POSITION!

If there are traces of liquid intrusion on any Liquid Intrusion Indicator, abort further repair actions and handle the phone in accordance with your local directives. Follow the 4.1.7 4.1.12 Reassembly instructions!

3.28 Display & Touch Sensor FPC Assy & Light diffusion film

REMOVAL Follow the 2.1.1 2.1.12 Disassembly instructions! Press down the Frame Assy at opposite corners (1) in order to release the Display from the Frame Assy (2).

Use your fingers to remove the Display.

Use tweezers to remove the Touch Sensor FPC Assy. THE TOUCH SENSOR FPC ASSY CANNOT BE REUSED!

Use tweezers to remove the Light diffusion film. THE LIGHT DIFFUSION FILM CANNOT BE REUSED!

Display 2.0 TFT & Touch Sensor FPC Assy & Light diffusion film continued

INSTALLATION Use blunt pair of tweezers to position the new Light diffusion film.

Use ESD tweezers to position the new Touch Sensor FPC Assy.

Use your fingers to position the Display.

Turn the Frame around and use the Guitar Pick to fold down the four metal wings on the new Display

Position the Frame Assy onto the LCD pressure tool.

Use the Pressure Tool to press with 100 N the Keyboard for at least 5 seconds. Follow the 4.1.1 4.1.12 Reassembly instructions!

4.1.1 Keyboard FPC Assembly

Thread the Keyboard FPC Assembly through the Frame Assy.

Place the Keyboard FPC Assembly so that it fits in the cavity (indicated by arrows) of the Frame Assy and press to attach it.

Use the Flex Film Assembly Tool to connect the ZIF connector of the Keyboard FPC Assembly (1). Lock the ZIF connector (2).

Use the ESD tweezers to attach a new Foil Adhesive Double Side 0.0 mm Adhesive Keyboard Flex.

Keyboard FPC Assembly continued

Attach the Keyboard FPC Assembly to the Frame Assy.

Use the ESD tweezers to attach a new Gasket for Keyboard BtB to the Keyboard FPC Assembly.

4.1.2 Dome Foil

Attach a new Dome Foil while using the holes indicated by the arrows as guides to the corresponding holes on the Keyboard FPC Assembly.

4.1.3 Keyboard

Place the Keyboard on top of the Dome Foil so that the lower part of the Keyboard touches the border of the Frame Assy.

4.1.4 Top Rear Inner Panel Assy

Position the Top Rear Inner Panel Assy to the Frame Assy,

and snap the Top Rear Inner Panel Assy to the Frame Assy.

Press like this to secure that both sides are properly snapped.

4.1.5 Sliding Lens Cover

Slide the Sliding Lens Cover onto the phone.

THE SLIDING LENS COVER MUST BE FULLY OPENED! Get four new Plastic Slider Snap and attach them to the Frame Assy, two on each side.

Slide the Lens Cover back to closed position.

4.1.6 Card Reader Assembly

THE SHIELD CAN LID HAS GUIDING PINS! Position the Card Reader Assembly,

and press to attach it to the PBA.

Connect this BtB connector by carefully pressing with your finger.

4.1.7 PBA incl. Card Reader Assembly

Turn the PBA upside/down and insert the FPC into the ZIF connector using the Flex Film Assembly Tool as shown in picture.

Lock the ZIF connector.

Raise the PBA and connect the LCD FPC BtB connector by carefully pressing with your finger,

and then connect the Keyboard FPC Assembly BtB connector to the PBA in the same way.

PBA incl. Card Reader Assembly continued

Turn the PBA to this position,

and place it like this. MAKE SURE THE SIDE SWITCHES ARE POSITIONED CORRECTLY!

Press on the Card Reader Assembly until the PBA is properly latched to the Frame Assy.

4.1.8 Speakerbox Assembly

Insert the Speakerbox Assembly like this,

and press until it is properly latched.

Press carefully with your finger to connect the BtB connector of the Speakerbox Assembly FPC to the PBA.

4.1.9 Antenna Cover Assembly

Position the Antenna Cover Assembly like this,

and use the Front Opening Tool to press and snap the Antenna Cover Assembly onto the Frame Assy on this side,

and the opposite side.

Press by using the Front Open Tool to make this part of the Antenna Cover Assembly snap to the Frame Assy, on both sides.

Use the PH00 bit to tighten one new Flat Head Screw on each side of the phone with10 Ncm torque.

Tighten two new T6 1,6 x 6,1 screws with 10 Ncm torque.
