Spring appears to be with us, withlighter evenings and better weather,the combination helps to feedoptimism for the months ahead. It is interesting to reflect that the term ‘credit crunch’ was firsttermed as long ago as 2007. Time really does fly and whilstthe road ahead will certainly be rocky (much like the pot-holed roads I find myself travelling each day!), what seemsincreasingly likely is a slow recovery as the year unfolds.

Business confidence in the UK is at its highest point for fouryears according to the latest KPMG Global Business Outlooksurvey.

l Expectations in manufacturing are the highest in its nine year history

l Confidence in the service sector at levels not seen since April 2007

It is the type of fillip that the automotive retailing sector andindeed the wider economy needs.

Whilst new car sales are down on the levels achieved duringthe scrappage scheme, used car sales continue to performwell. Naturally, there has been particularly strong interest insmaller, more economical cars; but demand has been suchthat virtually all car type sales have performed well at the‘block’ and on-line. What has been interesting to note is thatcondition is clearly playing an increasingly important role.Mindful of this, vendors have been key customers to ourTechnical Services operations at Leeds and Edinburgh.

SMA Technical Services offers a de-fleet service toremedy damage and ensure that the car can be on the forecourt fast,ready to sell. A fully trained team has bodyshop and preparationfacilities all under cover, ready to speed up the whole process, justwhat dealers tell us they want.

Leading Edge FacilitiesA business lounge, meeting facilities, Wi-Fi, great catering and a warmand comfortable twin lane auction hall are all ready to ensure thatbuyers and sellers can work hard to source or dispose of stock and stayin touch with ‘base’ remaining fully productive whilst on-site.

A Skilled and Enthusiastic TeamGreat facilities are fine, but at the end of the day it is service that reallycounts. SMA Vehicle Remarketing prides itself on its people.
