Dear Rotary Leaders,

Ann. Srimathi and I wish all of you a happy Dasara 2010.

The month of September saw the successful conduct of ICGF on New Generations Sashakta. Thanks to the efforts of Dist. Director Col. V. Subramanyam, and Rotary Bangalore City Centre. The Vocational service month started off very well. We had a well thought out and successfully organized ICGF on vocational services. The catalog and product exhibition done for the first time, at district level was a grand success and it amply met the objectives of coming to know of their fellow Rotarians' vocations and furthering networking through their products and services. I am happy to note that we have succeeded in providing fundamental inputs to the youth on self employment opportunities in the Awareness Program organized concurrently with ICGF, again a first. Very truly, WE ARE BUILDING COMMUNITIES.

I wish all of you the best.

The process of selecting the RUSI Award for the best innovative SME was done in a professional manner and my special apprecia-tion to Rotary Udyog and all concerned. I am happy that this event has taken off this year and could be a recurring event henceforth.

My official visits to the clubs as Governor have given me the satisfaction that every club is putting its best efforts towards fulfilling the goals and objectives of Rotary and I am pleased with the plans and performances. I am also thankful to the clubs for the hospitality showered on me during my official visits.

Our efforts to BRIDGE CONTINENTS goes on unabated. Our GSE Committee has finalized the selection of team leaders for the two outgoing GSE team to USA. The Belgium nite was a grand success and it has strengthened our efforts to bridge Belgium with District 3190. As you are all aware the rotary foundation seminar and the ICGF on International Service “SAMASHTI” will be held on 13th November 2010. The program will be interesting and will open new vistas for BRIDGING CONTINENTS. So, friends, I request you to attend in large numbers.

Before I conclude, Srimathi and I wish a happy and prospersous Deepavali to all Rotarians and their family!

Dear Friends in Rotary, I had a very interesting and pleasant experience of Rotary in action. The useful and interesting programs which I saw in clubs have impressed me very much. I am really amazed at the untiring efforts of Rotary families in doing service to the needy. May your tribe increase!

The ICGF on youth service and vocational services have been excellently organized and the outcomes of each of these events have surpassed my expectations. Congratulations to the organizing clubs and the District Committees.

During the Governors Official visits to clubs outside Bangalore, I have had the opportunity of visiting several places of religious and cultural significance, which have an informative and thoroughly enjoyable experience.

This is the festive season and the cheer and happiness in all families is not only apparent but spills over to Rotary too. I wish all of you a happy, prosperous and safe Deepavali

Thank you Friends

ICGF- New Generation “SASHAKTHA” a memorable event

SASHAKTHA, the ICGF on New Generation was conducted by Rotary

Bangalore City Centre on 5th September 2010. It brought together, young minds and inspiring leaders onto one platform for empowering the youth into building a better nation. ICGF was a grand success with over 250 Rotaractors who actively attended the event and made it a very memorable experience. 7 clubs participated in the collage competition too which was held at the venue with the Rotafest Theme of “We are the world”. It all started with a quick introduction of the ICGF by the ICGF Chairman. PDG Rtn Darius Marshall took the centre stage and inspired the youth with his never-say-die spirit! He also touched upon the subject of delivering effective speeches that certainly helped several Interactors and Rotaractors present that day. The captivated audience was then treated to another riveting speech by Mr. Shafi Mather who stressed upon the

point of wiping out corruption using his website bribebusters.com. Mr Shafi Mather also encouraged the youth of today to become social entrepreneurs by sharing with us some examples of his

successful initiatives, which addressed the needs of the society and benefited the community as a whole. The Rotary Bangalore City Centre also did an excellent job of bringing together 5 young Entrepreneurs for a panel discussion on the topic, 'Follow your path, Break the mould.' The focus of the discussion was to encourage the youth to provide employment r a t h e r t h a n s e e k employment and thus become entrepreneurs. However, the highlight of the day was the DRUM JAM and the

excellent performance by Vasundhara Das. All present - the youth, the elderly, & the kids, grooved to the songs sung by Vasundhara and later learnt the art of drumming in a short span of 20 minutes.

Music, yet again proved to be a great b i n d i n g f a c t o r t h u s b u i l d i n g communities and bridging continents!

Congratulations to Dist. Director Col. V. Subramanyam, ICGF Chair, Ashok Bhoopalam, Prez., RB City Centre, Rajyalakshmi and her team, DRR Giri & DIR Irfan.

From The DG's Desk
